Police: Gun Owner Saved Cop From Attack By Kids – Philadelphia Inquirer

Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood praised the efforts of licensed gun owner who came to the aid of a police officer.

Police are crediting a vigilant gun owner with saving the life of an Upper Darby cop Friday after he saw the officer being attacked and surrounded by a large group of teens.

“There were 40 kids. If it wasn’t for the good Samaritan stepping forward, he’d have been dead meat,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “There’s no doubt they would have attacked him.”

About 3 p.m. every weekday, from six to eight township police officers patrol the area near Upper Darby High School as nearly 4,000 kids pour out of the building on Lansdowne Avenue near School Lane.

Most kids and most days are good, Chitwood said.

Friday was not.

That afternoon alone, police responded to three fights in three locations near the school. When the dust settled, eight teens, ages 13 to 17, were charged with crimes, and two officers were injured so severely that it’s unclear when they’ll be able to return to work, Chitwood said.

The most egregious of the incidents took place on Wayne Avenue near Marshall Road, less than a mile from the high school.

An officer who broke up a fight between two teen boys that had attracted a large crowd at that location was holding one of the combatants at bay when the teen’s opponent attacked the officer, Chitwood said.

“As he breaks up the fight, he takes one kid and then the other jumps [on] him. Now he’s fighting two of them and he’s calling for an assist officer at the same time,” Chitwood said. “There’s a crowd of 40 or 50 kids watching the fight, and they all move in towards the officer.”

That’s when the good Samaritan, who lives on the block, came out of his house with a gun in his hand and told the teens to get away from the cop, Chitwood said.

“He had the gun in his hand, but he didn’t point it at the kids, he just told them to back off,” Chitwood said. “If this guy didn’t come out and come to the aid of the officer, this officer would have had significant problems.”

The 35-year-old gun owner, who has a concealed-carry permit, kept the group of teens at bay until responding officers arrived, Chitwood said.

Not only did the officer who tried to break up the fight suffer significant hand injuries, Chitwood said, but an officer who responded to the request for backup also suffered a major injury to a leg when he was kicked by one of the teens in the fight.

The two juveniles in that fight each were charged with aggravated assault on police, riot, harassment, and related offenses. They were remanded to the Delaware County juvenile detention facility in Lima, Chitwood said.

Six more youths were arrested for fighting around the same time that day at two other locations near the school, Chitwood said; one was sent to the juvenile detention facility and the other five were released to a parent or guardian. Six of the eight arrested students attend Upper Darby High. The seventh attends Beverly Hills Middle School; the eighth goes to a school in Ridley Township.

“There’s thousands of kids that walk to and from that school without a problem, but every once in a while you get these wannabe gangsters, and if they want to be gangsters, we’ll treat them like gangsters,” Chitwood said.

Since Friday, police said, after-school patrols around Upper Darby High have been doubled.

“Our goal is to make sure these kids get home safe,” Chitwood said. “I can’t emphasize it enough, but the majority of these kids are decent kids.”

Moonbat-produced video wins coveted ObamaCare Propaganda award

Via The Daily Caller

The Department of Health and Human Services has crowned a YouTube video entitled “Forget About The Price Tag” as the grand prize winner in a contest meant to encourage young people to sign up for Obamacare.

The video contest, announced in August — in partnership with a group called Young Invincibles — encouraged participants to produce clips filled with pro-Obamacare messaging.

HHS’s grand prize-winning video, announced Monday by the White House, features a young woman named Erin McDonald singing an Obamacare-loving version of Jessie J’s hit single, “Price Tag.”

Without a hint of irony, McDonald sings her chorus: “Ain’t about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching. Ain’t about the, yeah, bla-bling bla-bling. Affordable Care Act. Don’t worry ’bout the price tag.”

Ah goodness, talk about transparency, this video shows, clearly, why no one with an IQ above 65 would support ObamaCare. The fool who did this video ignores the reality of the consequences associated with ObamaCare. Millions of people  who had health insurance, insurance they liked are being forced OFF those plans. And now face paying far more for plans they either do not like, or with much higher deductibles. The irony here is that the bill this buffoon celebrates forces people to do the very thing her song urges them not be worry about, the price tag!

Sure it is easy to say do not sweat the bill, unless you cannot pay it, in which case you will be fined by the IRS. It is east to say do not worry about the cost, but very hard to have to  choose between having much more costly health insurance and saving less money, or enjoying life less, or taking fewer vacations, or opening a small business. And again, this is being  forced onto people who HAD good insurance, and were forced, BY LAW, off those plans. It is damned easy to say, do not worry about the cost, unless you are forced to lose your doctor, or are no longer free to use the hospital you prefer. It is so very easy for this Nimrod to sing about forgetting about the cost. But what IS the real cost? The real cost is losing your control of your health care, losing your insurance, and then being forced onto a plan you do not want, one that costs more, and gives you no real choices.

By the way, this walking brain donor won $2,000 for her video. I guess that is the going rate for useful idiots these days.

Former Top Lobbyist For Leftist Criminal Organization ACORN Heads ObamaCare Youth Video Contest

White House Taps ACORN’s Former Top Lobbyist To Head Obamacare Youth Video Contest – Weasel Zippers

.

Update to this story.

Via Daily Mail:

A liberal organization tapped Monday to manage a new federal government-sponsored video contest aimed at encouraging young Americans to embrace Obamacare is run by ACORN’s former top lobbyist, MailOnline can reveal.

ACORN, the once-mighty Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, crumbled in 2010 just months after a video sting operation showed its employees advising activists posing as a pimp and prostitute on how to evade federal taxes and hide crimes including human trafficking and prostitution.

Congress voted officially to defund it shortly thereafter.

The far-left ACORN was also dogged for years by allegations – some proven, others not – that its street-level organizers engaged in widespread voter registration fraud.

In its heyday, ACORN’s legislative agenda was managed by Deepak Bhargava, an Indian-born community organizer. Bhargava left ACORN in 2002 after holding the top government affairs position there for 10 years. He is now executive director of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Community Change.

In 2013 that organization sponsored a new youth outreach arm called Young Invincibles, which announced a partnership on Monday with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Their joint effort will award cash prizes to the creators of online videos that convince millennials to sign up for Obamacare health insurance exchanges, which open for enrollment on October 1.

Should I attend CPAC next year?

Well, let me weigh the pros and cons.

Donald Douglas has a good reason NOT to! I mean look at this headline ‘Sex at CPAC is Strongly Discouraged’

What? Donald explains

Look, you’re surrounded by young women at CPAC, so it’s not surprising that a lot of young conservative dudes would be looking to score, but by the looks of the buzz online yesterday, a backlash is brewing among those older and wiser. See Robert Stacy McCain, for example, “Cody’s Totally Excellent CPAC.”

Robert links to Erick Erickson, “CPAC: Not Quite Like the Media Matters Communications Room. But Still, Grow Up” (at Memeorandum as well). And also to Melissa Clouthier, who pulls no punches, CPAC: The Jersey Shore-ification of Our Young People“:

Wow! Looks like I missed it this year. I can see the point, I guess, very public displays of “affection” are not my cup of tea, and Melissa Clouthier lays down some rules for the ladies at CPAC.

1. No cleavage. That’s right. Cover that up. I say “no” in absolutist terms because women will show a tiny bit and that’s okay, but really, in a business environment where ideas are the priority, a dude thinking about your ta-tas is counter-productive.

Very good point, no doubt. I would say, though that as a guy, we are pretty much going to be thinking of Ta-Tas even without visible cleavage. Sorry, just being honest.

2. Skirts no more than three finger-widths above the knee. Why do I even have to write this? Well, because someone is allowing these girls out of the house with mini-skirts that reveal too much.

Another good point. take it from me,  guy, a very short skirt is inviting to the eyes, but, it also plants the seed, in the male mind, that the woman wearing that skirt is a girl, that, well , you know

3. Save the stilettos for Saturday night on a date with your boyfriend.

No real thoughts here, except how does a woman, or Andrew Sullivan, walk in those things?

4. Bend at the knee. No, I don’t want to see your butt.

Personally, I do not mind looking at your butt ladies, but, again, the key point here is that ultimately, a man will still be attracted to you, and will RESPECT you more if you dress more conservatively. Trust me, nothing is sexier than a woman in business attire. But, again, there is my point, in a way. Men will ALWAYS be drawn sexually to attractive women. A pretty girl is pretty, no matter what she wears. Sure, we will respect a hot woman who dresses in a less revealing fashion, more than a woman dressed like she is in a rap video. But, in the end, the male mind is, well, the male mind

I will leave you with thoughts from Douglas. Thoughts I tend to agree with. Sorry, I guess I am just a Libertarian on this in the end.

I don’t know, but I suspect that young people raised well by their parents already know this. My son for example is a young gentlemen who respects his girlfriends and hangs with a good crowd. But in four or five years, if he’s out at a CPAC-like conference, I’m not going to blame him if he’s looking for a good time — and if that means notching a bedpost, well, you only live once. Frankly, young people are looking for action, and I’d be surprised if this notion of no hitting on hotties at CPAC finds a huge audience with the hip crowd. Indeed, I think I’m with Dan Riehl on the more on the libertarian side of things. Either way, have fun, be responsible and dress nice — and most of all, keep a perspective on things. Sure the goal is marriage and family, but one doesn’t have to detour to the monastery beforehand.

Amen! Like Dan Riehl, I will SUFFER for the advancement of Conservatism

Talk about blogs coming of age. In my opinion, CPAC is about politics, not parenting. If it takes hundreds of new folks with perhaps more libertarian, than traditional, leanings to infuse a more powerful right in America, I’ll take it. And if some number of them are hotties in tube tops, I’ll find a way to endure because I love America just that much. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! ; )

Yep! Dan and I are just that damn selfless! The lengths we will go to for the cause!
