Disgraced CBS Boss Les Moonves Destroyed Evidence In Failed Sexual Misconduct Cover-Up Scheme – Breitbart

Disgraced CBS chief executive Les Moonves destroyed scores of evidence and lied to investigators conducting a probe into multiple allegations against him, ranging from sexual harassment to rape.

Les Moonves “engaged in multiple acts of serious nonconsensual sexual misconduct in and outside of the workplace, both before and after he came to CBS in 1995,” says a report, according to the New York Times.

The 59-page report, prepared by outside lawyers hired by CBS, said Moonves was “evasive and untruthful at times and to have deliberately lied about and minimized the extent of his sexual misconduct.”

Moonves – who joined CBS in 1995 and helped make it America’s most watch network, helping to shepherd hit TV shows like Survivor, How I Met Your Mother, and Big Bang Theory – was first accused in July of sexual misconduct by six women, dating back two decades…

A myriad of factors contributed to Meyer’s decision, but sources say foremost among them was his happiness with the state of the Ohio State program he inherited seven years ago.

Meyer, 54, will be replaced by Ryan Day, the 39-year-old offensive coordinator who served as Ohio State’s interim coach earlier this season. The university will announce Day as the permanent replacement on Tuesday, and the team was scheduled to be informed in a meeting early Tuesday morning.

NFL Ad Revenue Crashes Due To 2017 Ratings Decline Over Anti-American Kneeling – Breitbart

The National Football League’s 2018 ad revenue has sharply declined due to the crashing television ratings the league suffered in 2016 and 2017, according to reports.

The NFL’s TV ratings suffered a precipitous loss over the previous two seasons, with the 2016-2017 numbers down 10 percent. TV ad pricing is based on previous ratings periods, and so these declines seriously cut into the ad prices that the league could charge for the 2018 TV season.

Because of the bad numbers from last season, ad revenue fell 19 percent in the first two months of the 2018 season, Bloomberg reported.

“The effects of the lower audiences last year are spilling into this season,” said James Fennessy, chief executive officer of advertising research firm Standard Media Index.

There is a spot of good news for the league’s revenue for next year, though. Thus far this season, with the player protests during the national anthem fading, the TV ratings slide finally stabilized and in some cases have even seen modest gains…

Over 1,400 Earthquakes Have Rattled Alaska Over The Past 3 Days – Washington Standard

The shaking in Alaska still hasn’t stopped, and that has many residents wondering if the worst is still yet to come. Friday’s magnitude 7.0 earthquake could be felt 400 miles away from Anchorage, and it was the most destructive quake that the city has experienced since 1964.

But those living in the region can’t really shift into recovery mode yet because the ground continues to shake. In fact, it is being reported that there have been more than 1,400 aftershocks that have been recorded so far.

Since Friday’s tremor, the strongest to strike The Last Frontier since a 7.9 in the remote Rat Islands in 2014, the U.S. Geological Survey has recorded 166 aftershocks of magnitude 3.0 or higher around Anchorage as of 4:50 p.m. PST Sunday, USGS geophysicist Brad Aagaard told USA TODAY. Earthquakes of 3 or higher are strong enough to be felt.

There have been hundreds of smaller disturbances: 1,406 aftershocks of at least magnitude 1.0.

None of the news reports that I have found include aftershocks under magnitude 1.0…

Luke Sky Walker Arrested In Tennessee – Charlotte Observer

Has the calling of the Dark Side become too strong? Some people thought so after a man named “Luke Sky Walker” was arrested in Elizabethton, Tenn., where police say he violated his probation after a felony theft charge, WJHL reported.

The 21-year-old man, with his short and sandy brown hair, even bears a small resemblance to the young Jedi master Luke Skywalker from the original “Star Wars” films.

But while that Luke escaped with stolen Death Star plans, this Luke was caught in 2017 after police say he helped steal more than 40 road signs in April of 2017, the Elizabethton Star reported. The total value of the signs was about $2,300, according to the paper.

As of Monday, he was still being held without bond at the Carter County Detention Center, according to jail records.

On social media, some poked fun at the man’s unusually cinematic name. But the star reaction (literally) came from Mark Hamill himself…

Supreme Court Rejects Request To Hear Enviro-Weenie Challenge To Trump’s Border Wall Construction – Washington Examiner

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a request from a trio of conservation and environmental groups seeking to block construction of President Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The justices declined to consider the groups’ appeal of a lower court ruling that paved the way for the federal government to begin replacing border fencing in two locations and building wall prototypes.

The judge, U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, rejected the groups’ challenge to a 1996 federal law that gives the government the power to waive environmental laws to more quickly begin work on a wall. The Department of Homeland Security sought to sidestep the laws as it pursued the projects related to construction of the border wall.

U.S. Census Bureau: 63 Percent Of Non-Citizens On Welfare – Washington Examiner

A majority of “non-citizens,” including those with legal green card rights, are tapping into welfare programs set up to help poor and ailing Americans, a Census Bureau finding that bolsters President Trump’s concern about immigrants costing the nation.

In a new analysis of the latest numbers, from 2014, 63 percent of non-citizens are using a welfare program, and it grows to 70 percent for those here 10 years or more, confirming another concern that once immigrants tap into welfare, they don’t get off it.

The Center for Immigration Studies said in its report that the numbers give support for Trump’s plan to cut non-citizens off welfare from the “public charge” if they want a green card that allows them to legally work in the United States.

Cohen theoretically could get up to 70 years in prison if sentenced to consecutive terms for all his crimes. But sentencing guidelines would call for any prison term to be much less than that, in the range of several years…

MAGA Update: U.S. Consumer Confidence Jumps To 18-Year High – CNBC

Consumer confidence rose in September, notching its highest level in about 18 years. The Conference Board’s index rose to 138.4 this month from 134.7 in August. Economists polled by Reuters expected consumer confidence to dip to 132.

“Consumers’ assessment of current conditions remains extremely favorable, bolstered by a strong economy and robust job growth,” said said Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators at the Conference Board. “These historically high confidence levels should continue to support healthy consumer spending, and should be welcome news for retailers as they begin gearing up for the holiday season.”

Franco added September’s index print is near the all-time high of 144.7 reached in 2000. The survey measures Americans’ sentiment on current economic conditions and prospects for the next six months, including business and labor market conditions.

James “Whitey” Bulger was killed shortly after being moved to a high-security federal prison in West Virginia, the Herald has confirmed.

Bulger, 89, was convicted in 2013 of being complicit in 11 murders in Massachusetts, Florida and Oklahoma. His attorney, Hank Brennan, who tried to appeal Bulger’s life sentence all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, declined comment pending notification by the Bureau of Prisons.

Bulger arrived at USP Hazelton yesterday. He was found unresponsive at 8:20 this morning, according to a statement from the Bureau of Prisons, which provided no other details.

“Life-saving measures were initiated immediately by responding staff. Mr. Bulger was subsequently pronounced dead by the Preston County Medical Examiner,” the statement said…

Two football players who were falsely accused of rape are now suing the school and the female student who made the claims against them.

Dhameer Bradley and Malik St. Hilaire are suing Sacred Heart University (SHU) and Nikki Yovino for slander and infliction of emotional distress over the false accusation. SHU suspended the students from the football team after the accusations, which turned out to be false, and say their scholarships were revoked (the school disputes this claim).

Yovino was already sentenced to (only) one year in prison for her crime, after a last-minute plea deal. She was facing up to six years in prison for second-degree false reporting of an incident and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

On Oct. 15, 2016, Yovino told police she had attended a football club party at a house near the university. She claimed two men pulled her into a bathroom in the basement and sexually assaulted her…

A gynecologist pleaded guilty Friday in Mesa County, Colorado after prosecutors charged him for dyeing a patient’s vagina purple as some sort of “joke.” Dr. Barry W. King, 58, will submit to a deferred judgment and sentence for a misdemeanor count of harassment, according to the Grand Junction Sentinel.

His conviction will be dismissed in two years, assuming he doesn’t cause any more problems. King must do 100 hours of public service, write the woman an apology letter, and hand over $500 to Western Slope Center for Children, a non-profit organization that provides services to children who’ve been sexually abused.

A potential medical breakthrough that could put an end to the daily insulin injections endured by people living with diabetes has been unveiled by Dutch scientists.

By destroying the mucous membrane in the small intestine and causing a new one to develop, scientists stabilised the blood sugar levels of people with type 2 diabetes. The results have been described as “spectacular” – albeit unexpected – by the chief researchers involved.

In the hourlong procedure, trialled on 50 patients in Amsterdam, a tube with a small balloon in its end is inserted through the mouth of the patient down to the small intestine.

LifeSite, a Christian pro-life news outlet, was allegedly blacklisted by its web host and given just 12 hours to find another host the website, or risk being offline.

Police Looking For Man Who Ejaculated Onto Woman On Manhattan Subway – WPIX

The NYPD is asking the public’s help identifying a man accused of ejaculating onto a woman while they were aboard a train in Manhattan.

The incident happened on Monday, Oct. 1 at about 8 a.m. aboard a southbound D train.

Police said the 27-year-old victim was standing near the back of the car when an unknown individual boarded the train at the West 59th Street and Columbus Circle station and stood behind her.

When the train stopped at the following stop at the Rockefeller Center station, the victim realized the man ejaculated onto her buttocks and backpack, police said.

Police provided a cellphone photo of the alleged assailant.

The individual is described to be about 25-years-old and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants…

Atlanta To Pay Out $1.2 Million To Christian Fire Chief After Violating His First Amendment Rights – Daily Wire

Former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran was terminated from his position after writing a devotional book in his off-time which briefly discusses Biblical views on sex and marriage.

After a December 2017 ruling found that the city discriminated against Mr. Cochran and violated his First Amendment rights by firing him for expressing Christian views with which they disagree, the city council on Monday agreed to pay out $1.2 million to the former chief for damages and attorneys’ fees, reports Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the organization which represented Mr. Cochran.

“The government can’t force its employees to get its permission before they engage in free speech. It also can’t fire them for exercising that First Amendment freedom, causing them to lose both their freedom and their livelihoods,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot.

Theriot said he hopes the pay-out “will serve as a deterrent to any government that would trample upon the constitutionally protected freedoms of its public servants.”…

Man Sentenced To 6 Months In Jail For Having Sex With His Dog – Circa

A man in Aurora, Colorado has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty after getting caught having sex with his dog. Frederick Manzanares was sentenced to six months in prison and two years probation. Manzanares allegedly participated in sexual acts on the dog with his former girlfriend, KDVR-TV reports.

The incident occurred in the backyard of his trailer home. The dog, a male Akita mix, unfortunately won’t be able to recover and will have to be euthanized. The dog has become extremely aggressive and can’t be given away for adoption, KDVR reports.

“This dog cannot safely be adopted,” Judge Cheryl Rowles-Stokes said as she sentenced Manzanares, according to Patch. “This dog cannot safely be transferred… This dog cannot recover.”…

Organizers of the annual Davos conference ranked the United States first in their ranking of the world’s most competitive economies for the first time in a decade Wednesday, saying the No. 1 spot reflects a new methodology and long-term factors more than recent policies of the Trump administration.

The World Economic Forum said its “Global Competitiveness Report” is based on nearly 100 separate factors in a dozen categories that have been reworked slightly to better reflect today’s rapidly changing, increasingly digitized world economy.

CDC Confirms 62 Cases Of Polio-Like Illness Across U.S. – The Hill

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating 127 suspected cases of a polio-like condition that mostly affects children. The CDC said that 62 of those cases have been confirmed in 22 states in 2018.

Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is a rare but serious condition that can cause paralysis, drawing comparisons to polio. AFM primarily impacts the nervous system and weakens muscles.

There isn’t a cure for AFM and the CDC does not yet know its long-term impacts. The causes of the condition aren’t clear, but the CDC said it could be caused by other viruses, environmental toxins and genetic history.

“We are actually looking at everything. We are looking beyond the normal infectious diseases that can cause this,” said Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

Washington Archdiocese Publicly Names 31 ‘Credibly Accused’ Predator Priests – Daily Caller

The Archdiocese of Washington, to foster “transparency and accountability,” released a list Monday of 31 clergy members “credibly accused” of sexually abusing minors since 1948.

Cardinal Donald Wuerl, whose resignation as archbishop of Washington was accepted Friday amid mounting furor over his alleged complicity in sexual abuse cover-ups, released the list in an effort to help the archdiocese heal from wounds of abuse and distrust.

Of the clergy members named, none are still active in ministry, 28 were archdiocesan priests, three were priests of independent religious orders, 13 were never arrested and 14 are still alive, according to The Washington Post.

Former cardinal Theodore McCarrick was not included on the list because he was not a priest of the archdiocese when he allegedly committed acts of abuse.

Paul Allen, who cofounded Microsoft with Bill Gates, died Monday afternoon after a battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, his family confirmed to Business Insider. He was 65.

Allen, a tech billionaire, was a philanthropist and the owner of the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trail Blazers. He operated Vulcan Ventures, a venture-capital fund.

Allen was first diagnosed with the cancer in 2009, and disclosed earlier this month that it had returned after a period of remission. At the time, Allen said that he planned on staying involved with his various business ventures. It was the third time that Allen has been diagnosed with some form of lymphoma. President And First Lady Visit Hurricane-Ravaged Florida – UPI

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump witnessed first-hand Monday the impact of Hurricane Michael on northwest Florida. The pair landed in Panama City around 11 a.m. and were given a tour of the area by Florida Gov. Rick Scott. Trump praised Scott and said the chief federal priority is food, electricity and safety for residents.

Dow Sets Record High On Strong Job Growth, Apple Hits New High – Investor’s Business Daily

The major stock indexes were squarely higher in today’s stock market action after ADP payrolls came in above expectations. Private payrolls grew by 230,000 in September vs. the 179,000 Econoday consensus estimate.

Blue chip stock Apple (AAPL) set a fresh record high. Meanwhile, Leaderboard stock Nvidia (NVDA) fell for a second straight day, as it eased from new highs.

Report: FBI To Complete Kavanaugh Inquiry Wednesday With Vote Coming This Week – True Pundit

The F.B.I. is expected to complete its investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh and deliver the results to the Senate as early as Wednesday, and Republican leaders said Tuesday that they expect to vote on the nomination this week.

364 Guns Stolen From Memphis UPS Facility Intercepted On Way To Chicago – WREG

Approximately 364 of the guns stolen from an UPS facility in Memphis have been recovered en route to Chicago.

Federal ATF agents are still looking for one of the suspects, 24-year-old Roland Jackson, and offered a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Taveyan Turnbo, 18, is in custody.

According to a federal criminal complaint, the UPS facility received a shipment from the Ruger factory in North Carolina on Sept. 28. The 16 pallets of firearms were scheduled to leave two days later for Dallas, Texas.

Before they could be shipped, two men entered the Brooks Road facility in Memphis, loaded three pallets into a U-Haul van and sped away.

Authorities said there were roughly 367 guns in those pallets. All of the weapons were either .22 caliber or .380 caliber firearms, authorities said…

New taxes on e-commerce sales went into effect Monday in 10 states, making online shopping a little more costly for many consumers.

A Supreme Court ruling in June gave states the green light to impose sales taxes on e-commerce companies, even if they don’t have stores or warehouses within the state’s borders. The case, South Dakota vs. Wayfair, made it likely that consumers would pay more for online purchases from out-of-state retailers.

Several states, including Hawaii, Tennessee and Vermont, began collecting online sales taxes in July, according to the Tax Foundation Opens a New Window. Mississippi’s taxes took effect in September.

Neighbors Complain About Florida Man Doing Yard Work Naked; Police Say It Is Legal – Circa

Neighbors in Stuart, Florida, are irritated with their fellow resident who has been doing yard work in the nude.

“I came out Sunday night to put the trash out, and I look over and he is bent over, winding up his hose, and I’m like that is my view of the neighborhood,” Melissa Ny, a neighbor, told WPBF-TV. “He works on his car, and he does it naked and everyone has called the police, he is just out there doing his yard work, whatever he needs to do outside, naked.”

For illegal immigrant families nabbed at the border, meanwhile, they’re usually released together as part of the court-imposed catch-and-release practice. And nearly one-in-three of those parents quickly cuts off the ankle monitoring device meant to make sure they show up for their deportations.

Trump Rolls Back Obama-Era Methane Rule – Daily Caller

The Trump administration on Tuesday rolled back methane standards for energy companies that operate on public lands, eliminating a major rule enacted during the Obama administration.

The Bureau of Land Management rescinded a rule meant to curb methane emissions from fossil fuel development. Enacted in 2016, the Methane and Waste Prevention Rule regulates leaked, flared and vented natural gas from fossil fuel operations on public land.

The revision was expected, as the Department of the Interior indicated since August that a rule change was looming. BLM expects that rolling back the methane rule will result in a net savings of $1 billion over the course of a decade for oil and gas companies.

A ten-year-old boy from Berlin was reportedly raped by three asylum seeker classmates while on a school trip to an isolated castle north of the German capital.

The attack occurred just before the start of the summer holidays at a school trip to Schloss Kröhlendorff, an isolated castle where the victim and 38 other students were supposed to engage in various outdoor activities.

A Texas man is facing a voyeurism charge in South Carolina after he allegedly slipped into a convenience store restroom wearing women’s clothing and tried to film a woman sitting in the stall next to him, according to Greenville Police.

The man, identified as Shawn Thomas Hallett, 38, was still wearing makeup and a hint of red lipstick in the mugshot posted by police on Facebook. Investigators say Hallett was “nabbed” at the store wearing a wig, women’s clothing and even women’s shoes.

WYFF reports Hallett is from Levelland, Texas, and the station said the site of the incident was a QuikTrip on South Academy Street in Greenville.

The alleged victim told investigators she went into the store’s restroom and not long after saw “a cell phone appear under the stall wall.” The woman quickly left and called police, said a press release.

Toyota said Monday it will invest $500 million in Uber and widen an existing partnership to include development of self-driving cars for ride-sharing firms.

The additional cash comes as Uber struggles with autonomous technology after a March accident involving a test vehicle left an Arizona pedestrian dead. In the aftermath, Republican Gov. Doug Ducey ordered the company to stop road tests in the state, and Uber later abandoned testing in Arizona altogether.

“This agreement and investment marks an important milestone in our transformation to a mobility company as we help provide a path for safe and secure expansion of mobility services like ride-sharing that includes Toyota vehicles and technologies,” Shigeki Tomoyama, the head of Toyota’s self-driving car unit, said in a statement.

Leftist Judge Extends Online Ban On 3D Gun Blueprints, Says Free Speech Right Is Abridged But Not Abrogated – ABA Journal

A federal judge in Seattle has found that a former law student’s presumed First Amendment interests in publishing online blueprints for plastic 3D printed guns are “dwarfed by the irreparable harms” likely to be suffered by the states if federal restrictions on the blueprints are lifted.

The preliminary injunction issued Monday by U.S. District Judge Robert Lasnik blocks the federal government from allowing publication of the blueprints until resolution of the multistate lawsuit seeking to keep the blueprints offline. Lasnik had issued a temporary restraining order in the case July 31.

Lasnik said he “declines to wade through” the First Amendment issues on the limited record so far, but any burdens on speech are outweighed by likely harm to the states. Lasnik added that the First Amendment right “is currently abridged, but it has not been abrogated.”…

It does not violate Twitter’s rules against abuse to wish death upon National Rifle Association (NRA) spokeswoman Dana Loesch’s children, Twitter ruled Sunday evening.

“The only way these people learn is if it affects them directly,” Twitter user Milan Legius wrote in a reply to Loesch. “So if Dana Loesch has to have her children murdered before she’ll understand, I guess that’s what needs to happen.”

“You may not make specific threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people,” Twitter’s rules state.

But when Loesch’s husband Chris reported the tweet wishing death upon their children, Twitter initially ruled in favor of Legius…

Hundreds Of Kansas Residents Exposed To Contaminated Water For Six Years – Washington Examiner

State officials in Kansas let hundreds of residents near Wichita risk drinking contaminated water for six years before telling them there was a problem, according to a report.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment in 2011 found dry cleaning chemicals in groundwater in Haysville, but did not test nearby private wells used for drinking, washing, and bathing. The department also did not advise residents so they could test their wells themselves, the Wichita Eagle reported over the weekend. Public water sources were not contaminated.

The KDHE told the news outlet it did not act immediately because the department believed the contaminated water was flowing away from private wells before it found out in 2017 that was not the case. Identifying and treating affected groundwater in Kansas is complicated by state laws that protect the dry cleaning industry.

Perchloroethylene, a dry cleaning chemical, can affect a person’s mood, memory, and vision when consumed over long periods of time…

U.S. Forces Kill Head Of ISIS In Afghanistan, Along With Ten Other Terrorists – Reuters

The head of Islamic State in Afghanistan, Abu Saad Erhabi, was killed in a strike on the group’s hideouts in Nangarhar province on Saturday night, authorities said on Sunday. Ten other members of the militant group were also killed in a joint ground and air operation by Afghan and foreign forces, the National Directorate of Security in Kabul said in a statement.

A large amount of heavy and light weapons and ammunition were destroyed during raids on two Islamic State hideouts. The jihadist group’s Amaq’s news agency carried no comment on the issue.

Lieutenant-Colonel Martin O’Donnell, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, said the United States carried out a strike in Afghanistan on Saturday against a “senior leader of a designated terrorist organization.”

The provincial governor of Nangarhar said Erhabi was the fourth Islamic State leader in Afghanistan to be killed since July 2017…
