Another update on Chris Kyle murder

Something has been bugging me about the report from the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram

The suspect, identified as Eddie Ray Routh, 25, was pursued to a house in Lancaster by officers, including a local SWAT team. Routh again try to flee in a vehicle but was stopped about 9 p.m. after spikes were laid across a road, Bryant said.

“The suspect has been caught and is in custody in Lancaster,” the sheriff said. Erath County sheriff’s investigators and Texas Rangers were securing a capital murder warrant, he said.

Witnesses told sheriff’s investigators that the gunman opened fire on the two men around 3:30 p.m., then fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims. The sheriff’s department didn’t get a call until around 6 p.m.

Why the 2-and-a-half hour delay in the police getting a call? Something does not add up about that. Again, details are somewhat sketchy, and I am still looking, and re-reading everything I can find. More updates when I can

Latest on Chris Kyle murder

On Twitter this lady, Tamara Jolee seems to have some good information

Said alleged suspect Routh displayed aggression, “mental issues” all the way back in HS. Later became Marine and aggression “accelerated”

Other victim along with Chris Kyle is Chad Littlefield, also from here. Both leave behind wives and children.

Her friend is married to the second victim.

Shocking News- Top American Sniper Chris Kyle killed? UPDATED Suspect, Eddie Ray Routh, 25 arrested. Updated! Killers photo found?

According to this story at the Dallas Morning News Chris Kyle was shot to death today

Lancaster Police arrested a man in connection with a double slaying in Erath County. Unconfirmed media reports say one of the dead is top Navy Seals sniper Chris Kyle.

Police saw a suspect matching the description of the man wanted in Erath County. After a short chase, they arrested Eddie Routh, 25.

WFAA is reporting that Kyle died like the hero he was

Two people were killed Saturday at a gun range in Erath County.

Three sources tell News 8 that one of the victims was Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and author of the New York Times bestselling book, “American Sniper.”

Kyle was shot point-blank while helping another soldier who is recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome, News 8 learned.

An alert was issued for the suspect, who was believed to be driving a black Ford F-350 truck with large tires and rims.

Police have reportedly captured the suspect in Lancaster, south of Dallas. The suspect was believed to be highly trained with military experience

The shooting location is 53 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

More updates as I get them. Please pray for Chris’s wife and two children.

It is being reported that the man arrested is Eddie Routh, 25. I found an Eddie Routh that graduated from Midlothian High School in 2006, so the age would match. Midlothian is just south of me. This report claims the man arrested was a Marine from Midlothian, Texas. The first question I have is was the man they were helping the one that killed them?

Here is the latest I have found

Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and author of the best-selling book American Sniper, and a second person were shot and killed Saturday at a gun range in Erath County, U.S. Marshals said.

Late Saturday, Lancaster police arrested a man who they say matched the description of a man wanted in connection with the slayings. After a brief chase, officers arrested 25-year-old Eddie Ray Routh, according to Lancaster police spokesperson Kelly Hooten.

Reporting on the shootings, the Stephenville Empire-Tribune said Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant would not discuss the victims. But the newspaper said that a source working at Rough Creek Lodge, which has a gun range at which the newspaper reported the slayings occurred, confirmed that one of the victims was Kyle.

Apparently, Kyle and the others were attending a veterans charity event

A close friend tells Breitbart News that Chris Kyle was at a veterans’ charity event, helping a fellow military member learn sniper shooting technique, and that he was shot by a Marine suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. The suspect, Eddie Ray Routh, has been arrested in Lancaster, Texas in connection with the shooting.

So if that report is true, it seems to indicate that Kyle was not shot by the man he was helping. Unless I am just misreading it somehow.

Pat Dollard has gotten a tip that this is a picture of Routh

Thanks to a tip to PatDollard.com, we found what is apparently a picture of the assumed killer of Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle.

The apparent shooter is Eddie Ray Routh, 25, “a former Marine who is said to suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome.”

Here is another update from the local NBC affiliate

Empire-Tribune reporter Sara Vanden Berge told NBC 5 that it did not sound like an accidental shooting but appeared to be an intentional shooting.

Vanden Berge said Kyle was at the shooting range with the suspect and another man. She said her understanding was that Kyle had an open invitation to visit and use the range at Rough Creek and did not have a guide with him.

A source told her that the man suspected in the shootings was a veteran and may have been doing some sort of shooting therapy, she told NBC 5.

Lancaster police confirmed that Routh was arrested Saturday night and that he was a wanted murder suspect.

This is why we must investigate Benghazi

Heading out to work, but I had to post this story I found at The Lonely Conservative

What really happened in Benghazi?

It’s even worse than we previously thought. A retired four-star admiral is now claiming that Barack Obama intentionally conspired with America’s enemies to stage a bogus attack and the kidnapping of an American ambassador so he could “negotiate” the release of a “hostage” and bolster his mediocre approval ratings just prior to the election!

The Washington Examiner, quoting retired Four-Star Admiral James Lyons, writes: “the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi… was the result of a bungled abduction attempt…. the first stage of an international prisoner exchange… that would have ensured the release of Omar Abdel Rahman, the ‘Blind Sheik’…”

But something went horribly wrong with Obama’s “October Surprise.” Although the Obama Administration intentionally gutted security at the consulate prior to the staged kidnapping, former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed direct orders to stand down, saved American lives, single-handedly killed scores of attackers…and the attackers, believing that Obama had betrayed them, tortured Ambassador Chris Stevens and dragged his body through the streets.

Some will say that Admiral Lyons’ accusation is not a smoking gun. We agree; that’s exactly why Congress must investigate Benghazi-gate.

We will see how this accusation, and that is all it is at this point shakes out. I recall early on hearing rumors about this being a failed “October Surprise” was it? Hopefully we will find out.

Bombshell! Did White House call off airstrike in Benghazi?

Via Blackfive comes this

Having a back and forth with a former legendary Delta operator.  Here is the gist of what he is implying:

The news is breaking today but there is a small bit that is being overlooked.  According to the statements from Fox News:

The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Specter gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

Everyone is reporting this but they are missing a key point.  From the retired Delta operator:

Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.

One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target.  That means that Specter WAS ON STATION!  Probably an AC130U.  A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser.  You do not “paint” a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.

Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.

If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.

If that SEAL was actively “painting” a target; something was on station to engage!  And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!
Lots more at the link, including several updates you ought to read. Included are some updates that might paint a different picture, so you should definitely check those out, it is important that we get all the facts. But, I will  say that nothing I have seen, or read looks good for Team Obama. It is bloody obvious that not nearly enough was done, before, or during the attacks. It is also glaringly obvious that Team Obama has been in CYA mode since September 11th.

Dishonorable Disclosures

Smitty posts the video featuring a group of former U.S. intelligence and Special Forces operatives called OPSEC It is a must see

Hot Air has more

The OPSEC group says it is not political and aims to save American lives. Its first public salvo is a 22-minute film that includes criticism of Obama and his administration. …

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not,” Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

“As a citizen, it is my civic duty to tell the president to stop leaking information to the enemy,” Smith continues. “It will get Americans killed.”

An Obama campaign official said: “No one in this group is in a position to speak with any authority on these issues and on what impact these leaks might have, and it’s clear they’ve resorted to making things up for purely political reasons.” …

Following the film’s release, OPSEC’s spokesmen said, the group expects to produce TV spots on the anti-leak theme that will air in a number of states, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Nevada – key battleground states.

No one in this group is in a position to speak with any authority on these issues? Err, really? You don’t suppose Navy SEALs, CIA officers, and military commanders aren’t perhaps in the best position to speak about the dangers of high-level security leaks and the importance of safeguarding both our gathered intelligence and our individuals?

One very bad man

Chris Kyle is a Navy Seal sniper, with over 160 kills to his credit

Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle has the nickname “the legend.” It’s a title given to him by his fellow soldiers. And once you hear his story, you’ll understand why.

Kyle is the “deadliest in U.S. history,” the New York Post says. So how many kills have earned him that designation? Just 160. He details many of them — and many other stories — in his new book, “American Sniper,” which hits bookstores today.

For example, he recalled taking out seven insurgents in Fallujah around Thanksgiving 2004:

It’s November 2004. Thanksgiving time. The second battle of Fallujah has launched, and Kyle is swaddled in silence atop an upturned baby crib, studying the enemy through a Nightforce 4.5-22 power scope attached to a .300 Win Mag rifle.

He’s feeling badass.

“We just got word that the president of Iraq said that anyone left in the city is bad — meaning, clear to shoot,” he recalled for The Post. “From that point on, every fighting-age male was a target.”

That was just fine with Kyle, who spent five weeks in the hideout, protecting Marines on the ground and bagging seven confirmed kills — adding to his official total of 160, making him the deadliest sniper in US history.

“After the first kill, the others come easy. I don’t have to psych myself up, or do anything mentally — I look through the scope, get the target in the cross hairs and kill my enemy before he kills one of my people,” Kyle writes in his new autobiography […] .
