Americans Evacuate From U.S. Consulate In China After Debilitating Sonic Attacks – Zero Hedge

Several U.S. citizens have been evacuated from the U.S. consulate in Guangzhou, China, after falling ill with various neurological symptoms from mysterious “sonic attacks” similar to incidents reported in Havana Cuba which left 20 State Department employees with serious injuries.

On Wednesday night, consulate worker Mark Lenzi and his family were evacuated after hearing strange noises over the course of several months, which Lenzi described as “marbles bouncing and hitting a floor then rolling on an incline with a static sound,” according to the Washington Post.

At first, he and his wife thought that their neighbor – a fellow Foreign Service officer in the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou, China – was responsible. The neighbor denied having anything to do with it.

A few months later, the headaches started – excruciating pain that lasted for days at a time…

.

.
More than fifty thousand people – 50,308 – were either apprehended or deemed inadmissible at the Southwest border last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said on Wednesday. It’s the highest monthly total of the Trump presidency.

The 50,308 apprehended/inadmissibles in March is a 37 percent increase from the 36,695 counted in February, but a whopping 203 percent increase from March 2017’s 16,588.

CBP said the number of family units increased by 49 percent from February to March, and the number of unaccompanied children increased by 41 percent compared to February.

“The traffickers and smugglers know that, if you arrive with a family, under our current legal and court system, you have a much better chance of being released into the United States,”…

There Are Now More Job Openings Than Unemployed Workers In The U.S. – The Hill

There are now more job vacancies than unemployed workers to fill them in the U.S. for the first time since 2000.

Data released on Tuesday by the Labor Department showed a record 6.7 million job openings in the U.S. in April, a slight increase from 6.63 million in March.

The data also showed just 6.35 million workers categorized as unemployed, down from 6.59 million in March.

“Never before have we had an economy where the number of open jobs exceeds the number of job seekers,” Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “This administration is committed to ensuring that all Americans have the necessary skills to access good, family-sustaining jobs.”

The manufacturing of long-lasting durable goods, including airplanes and machinery, saw some of the biggest increases in job vacancies in April, in addition to the information sector…

The Justice Department’s internal watchdog has concluded that James Comey defied authority at times during his tenure as FBI director, according to sources familiar with a draft report on the matter.

In the draft report, Inspector General Michael Horowitz also rebuked former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for her handling of the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s personal email server, the sources said…

CNN’s Ratings Collapse Marches Into June – Breitbart

Far-left cable channel CNN suffered a massive ratings collapse in May. June is shaping up to be worse.

CNN stumbled out of May with a massive -25 percent ratings collapse when compared to the same month last year. Because Fox News actually experienced total viewer growth and MSNBC’s loss was a negligible two percent, we know the problem is CNN and not the news cycle or Americans tiring of the news.

To understand just how awful of a week CNN just had, you have to understand just how bad the entire month of May was for the anti-Trump cable channel.

Trump’s “Trade War” Is Working: U.S. Trade Deficit Collapses – Zero Hedge

One month after the biggest plunge in the U.S. trade deficit since the financial crisis – good news for Trump who has engaged in “trade war” with the rest of the world to boost U.S. trader and exports – the good news continued in April, when according to the Census Bureau, the U.S. deficit shrank again, down 2.1% from a revised $47.2BN to $46.2BN – the lowest since September 2017, and beating not only the $49BN consensus estimate, but also also the lowest Wall Street estimate of $46.2BN.

The number was so good, some were wondering why Trump didn’t pre-tweet it, as he did with the payrolls report.

Incidentally, with today’s revision, the March plunge in the U.S. trade deficit has now risen to $10BN, the highest since 2008, and the second biggest improvement in the U.S. deficit on record.

According to the census bureau, the deficit decreased from a revised $47.2 billion in March to $46.2 billion in April…

Rep. Kristi Noem Wins South Dakota GOP Governor Primary – Fox News

U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem won South Dakota’s Republican primary for governor on Tuesday, defeating Attorney General Marty Jackley to emerge as the favorite to become the state’s first female governor.

GOP primary voters made Noem the only woman South Dakota Republicans have nominated for the state’s top job. She advanced to face well-funded Democrat Billie Sutton, a state senator and former professional rodeo cowboy, in the November general election.

Noem credited her primary victory in part to traveling around the state and talking about policies that cast a bold new vision for South Dakota.

“I expect the general election will be competitive as well, but we’re going to work hard,” Noem said. “We will start focusing on that tomorrow.”

Kay Ivey Takes The Republican Primary For Alabama Governor, Moving On To The General Election – WHNT

Gov. Kay Ivey clinched the Republican nomination in Alabama’s gubernatorial primary race Tuesday, and now she seeks to win the office outright after her appointment 14 months ago, when predecessor Robert Bentley resigned in the fallout of a sex-tinged scandal.

She will face Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, who won the Democratic nomination. Alabama hasn’t elected a Democrat to the governor’s office since 1998, but the party has been energized by a win in December’s U.S. Senate race and seeks a resurgence in state politics.

Maddox defeated former Alabama Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb and other candidates. He’s been Tuscaloosa mayor since 2005 and is running on a platform that includes establishing a state lottery to fund a mixture of college scholarships, pre-kindergarten programs and financial assistance for the state’s poorest and struggling schools.

8 Reasons To Still Hate Obamacare – Stephen Moore

Remember Obamacare? The fight is far from over on the future of the Obama-era health insurance overhaul.

Republicans are making a list-ditch effort this year to turn the program and the money over to the state. This isn’t full Obamacare repeal, but would make a world of sense because states would be free to experiment and find ways to reduce costs and provide better services.

Democrats are adopting a new political spin, which is that everything is fine with Obamacare. They claim that the only reason premium and deductible costs keep exploding is because President Donald Trump repealed the individual mandate tax – which was nothing more than an unfair penalty on low-income families that can’t afford the high cost of the health law’s mandates.

But if Trump is to blame, why were the costs skyrocketing two years before Trump even entered the Oval Office?…

Iowa Legislature Passes ”Fetal Heartbeat’ Abortion Ban – Reuters

Iowa’s Republican-controlled legislature passed the most restrictive abortion ban in the United States on Wednesday, outlawing the procedure after a fetal heartbeat is detected, often at six weeks and before a woman realizes she is pregnant.

The Senate voted 29-17 to pass the House of Representatives-approved bill, according to the legislature’s online voting tallies. The bill now goes to Republican Governor Kim Reynolds, an abortion opponent, who has not said publicly whether she will sign it into law.

The legislation is aimed at triggering a challenge to Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark decision which established that women have a constitutional right to an abortion, activists on both sides of the issue said.

Abortion opponents aim to land abortion questions back in front of the nation’s top court, where they believe the 5-4 conservative majority could sharply curtail abortion access or ban it outright…

Trump To Roll Back $25 Billion From Omnibus Spending Bill – Daily Caller

President Donald Trump’s administration is going to roll out a recision package in the coming weeks that will roll back $25 billion from the $1.3 trillion spending bill Congress passed in April, a source with first-hand knowledge told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

7 Republican-Run States Sue Federal Government To End Unconstitutional DACA Program – Business Insider

The states filed suit in federal court in Texas in the latest twist in an ongoing policy and legal fight over the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that Republican President Donald Trump already has tried to rescind.

Trump said in September he would terminate DACA and end its protections for the immigrants who are sometimes called “Dreamers,” but gave the Republican-controlled Congress until March 6 to replace it. Policy differences between Trump and lawmakers in both parties led to Congress’ failing to act.

200 “Mostly African” Migrants Attack Police Cars Sent To Deport A Single “Refugee” In Germany, Force Officers To Flee – Daily Mail

Migrants have forced police to abandon plans to deport a single refugee from a home in Germany.

Then they issued an ultimatum – take the handcuffs from their friend and set him free or risk ‘massive violence.’

Angry migrants hammered on the police vehicles so forcefully that all three were dented. The authorities said the officers feared for their lives and had to beat a retreat. Trump endorsed term limits as a candidate in 2016, but the issue has not received significant attention since he took office. A White House spokesman did not respond to a request for comment on meeting details.

In an afternoon statement, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., said that he organized a group including four other lawmakers to meet with Trump. Fitzpatrick said the meeting occurred on Wednesday and included Reps. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., Ro Khanna, D-Calif., Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, and Vincente Gonzalez, D-Texas…

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Reveals Evidence That Iran Is Breaking Obama’s Insane Nuclear Deal – Newsweek
.

.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran of continuing nuclear activities in spite of a 2015 agreement in which it pledged to curb uranium enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief.

In a special address Monday, Netanyahu said Israel obtained half a ton of top-secret data relating to Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program.

Netanyahu stood before a slideshow presentation and claimed Iran has secretly pursued “Project Amad,” a plan to “design, produce and test…” five nuclear warheads, each with 10 kilotons of explosive yield and designed to be fitted onto a missile. He claimed that he had 100,000 “exact copies” of Iran’s atomic archive to prove it…

The Irreproducibility Crisis Of Modern Science – Lloyd Billingsley

“Most Americans don’t even know that the crisis exists,” explain David Randall and Christopher Welser of the National Association of Scholars. Help has now arrived in The Irreproducibility Crisis of Modern Science: Cause, Consequences and the Road to Reform. The general reader might find the title puzzling but the concept is simple.

If a scientific study is to be legitimate, it must be reproducible because replication allows examination of the data and the possibility of different conclusions. If the study is not reproducible it is not really science, and as the authors show, that type of non-science is now common.

In June of 2016, Oona Lِnnstedt and Peter Eklِv of Uppsala University published a paper in Science warning of the dangers of microplastic particles in the ocean. The study got considerable media attention but as it turned out, “Lِnnstedt never performed the research that she and Eklِv reported.” So in philosophical terms, it had an existential problem, and veracity is also an issue…

Double Kabul Suicide Bombing Kills 25, Including 9 Reporters – Circa

A coordinated double suicide bombing by the Islamic State group hit central Kabul on Monday morning, killing at least 25 people, including nine Afghan journalists, officials said.

An AFP photographer, a cameraman for a local TV station and several reporters for the Afghan branch of Radio Free Europe were among the fatalities, police said. At least 45 people were wounded in the twin attacks, according to Kabul police spokesman, Hashmat Stanekzai, who also said four policemen were among those killed.

The attack was the latest in a relentless string of deadly large-scale bombings and assaults that have struck Kabul and elsewhere in Afghanistan so far this year. And even as the Afghan capital reeled from Monday’s assault, a suicide car bombing a few hours later in the southern province of Kandahar killed 11 children, a police spokesman said.

In a statement posted on an IS-affiliated website, the Islamic State group said two of its martyrdom seekers carried out the double Kabul bombings…

Food Stamp, Welfare, Medicaid, Disability Rolls All Dropping Under Trump – Investor’s Business Daily

Earlier this month, the government reported that enrollment in food stamps plunged by nearly 600,000 in one month. Is this part of a broader trend toward greater self-reliance?

The Department of Agriculture, which runs the food stamp program – officially called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – reports that enrollment in January was 40.7 million, the lowest it’s been since May 2010.

In the months since President Trump has been in office, the number of people collecting food stamps plunged by nearly 2 million. The same is true for welfare. Enrollment in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program dropped 12% last year, to reach 2.3 million…

Putin Still Wants Deal With Trump, Even After Sanctions, Syria Attack – Bloomberg
.

.
After U.S. sanctions crippled an entire Russian industry and air strikes in Syria threatened the first direct clash between nuclear superpowers since the Cold War, Vladimir Putin is seeking to dial down the tension.

Russia’s leader wants to give President Donald Trump another chance to make good on pledges to improve ties and avoid escalation, according to four people familiar with the matter. One said the Kremlin has ordered officials to curb their anti-U.S. rhetoric.

Putin’s decision explains why lawmakers Monday suddenly pulled a draft law that would’ve imposed sweeping counter-sanctions on U.S. companies, two of the people said. The relatively limited nature of the weekend attacks on alleged chemical-weapons facilities in Syria was seen as a positive sign in the Kremlin…

An illegal immigrant from Guatemala – who has prior felony convictions for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance – is accused of hitting a motorcyclist in Omaha, Nebraska, with his vehicle, accelerating over him and then crushing the man to death as he fled the scene.

Velasquez-Ortiz has reportedly resided in the U.S. illegally for 15 years and was employed by Nebraska Beef, the Daily Mail reported.

The man was reportedly driving a Ford Explorer when he failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a motorcyclist, who got stuck underneath the vehicle. Mitch McConnell Puts Kibosh On Mueller Protection Bill – The Hill

McConnell’s comments come as Trump has lashed out at Mueller following the FBI’s raid on the offices and hotel room of his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. The raid stemmed, in part, from a referral from Mueller’s team.

Facebook Could Face Billions In Fines Over Facial Recognition Features – Breitbart

Facebook could reportedly face billions of dollars in fines over their facial recognition features due to an Illinois law relating to the collection of biometric data.

A federal judge has ruled that a class action lawsuit including millions of Facebook users can proceed with their claims that the social media firm violated an Illinois law relating to the collection and storage of biometric data without users consent, according to Bloomberg.

Millions of social media users could potentially sue Facebook for violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act of 2008 (BIPA) which holds a fine of $1,000 to $5,000 each time a user’s photo is used without permission. This could result in Facebook paying out billions of dollars.

Trump Signs Order Deploying National Guard To U.S.-Mexico Border – Washington Times

President Trump signed an order Wednesday deploying National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to boost security while he pressures Congress to deliver more resources to build his wall, hire more Border Patrol agents and make it easier to deport new illegal immigrants.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said it’s too early to know how many troops will be sent, what their exact role will be or how much it will cost, but she suggested it would likely be along the lines of deployments by Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, who sent the National Guard to assist in intelligence-gathering, construction and surveillance.

The move came just as the government announced the latest numbers showing illegal immigration leaped 200 percent in March compared with a year earlier. Nearly 2.8 Million Gun-Purchase Background Checks Processed In March – Washington Times

Nearly 2.8 million gun-purchase background checks were processed last month, according to FBI data released Tuesday – an indication that renewed talk of gun control in the wake of February’s Parkland school massacre is fueling a record nationwide firearms buying spree.

Close to 335,000 more checks were run through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) last month compared to a year earlier. That’s the biggest year-over-year monthly increase since President Obama left office.

The uptick is likely a reaction not so much to the Valentine’s Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as it is to the push in Congress and a number of states to enact stricter controls on gun purchases.

The numbers are also consistent with a reported upswing in National Rifle Association membership numbers and donations to the NRA post-Parkland, said Robert Spitzer, a professor at SUNY Cortland who has written multiple books about gun policy…

The woman who opened fire on three people before killing herself at YouTube’s California headquarters has been identified as a frequent user of the site who was furious with the company for their ‘dictatorial’ new policies.

Nasim Aghdam, 39, shot a man and two women with a handgun when she stormed YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno on Tuesday afternoon.

Aghdam was a prolific YouTuber who had ranted online against the company’s new policies and accused them of censoring her videos.

Witnesses say Aghdam was wearing glasses and a scarf when she managed to walk onto the YouTube campus and open fire on employees in what police believe is a random shooting.

Attorney Gregg Jarrett Calls On “Unethical” Robert Mueller To Resign, Claiming He And Rod Rosenstein “Colluded To Break The Law” – Gateway Pundit

An August 2017 memo from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to Special Counsel Robert Mueller surfaced late Monday evening in a court filing. Mueller used the memo to defend his scope of the investigation against a recent motion Manafort filed to dismiss his case.

In the heavily redacted memo, Robert Mueller admits Rosenstein’s order appointing him to Special Counsel was intentionally vague. “This violates the special counsel law that requires a specific statement of facts to be investigated,” says Attorney Gregg Jarrett.

The legal analyst for Fox News unleashed on Mueller and Rosenstein on Tuesday, calling for both to resign after they “colluded to break the law.”

Gregg Jarrett tweeted: Unethical Mueller, in his court filing, admits that Rosenstein’s order appointing him was intentionally vague. This violates the special counsel law that requires a specific statement of facts to be investigated…

Homeland Security Discovers Rogue Cell Tower Simulators In Washington Used By Foreign Spies – Gateway Pundit

A stunning report by the Associated Press reveals the Department of Homeland Security has discovered rogue cell tower simulators in Washington, D.C. commonly used by foreign spies.

AP reports:

For the first time, the U.S. government has publicly acknowledged the existence in Washington of what appear to be rogue devices that foreign spies and criminals could be using to track individual cellphones and intercept calls and messages.

The use of what are known as cellphone-site simulators by foreign powers has long been a concern, but American intelligence and law enforcement agencies – which use such eavesdropping equipment themselves – have been silent on the issue until now.

In a March 26 letter to Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that last year it identified suspected unauthorized cell-site simulators in the nation’s capital…

One Elephant Killed, Two Injured After Circus Truck Overturns On Spanish Highway – El Pais
.

.
A circus truck carrying five elephants overturned on Monday on the A-30 highway in Pozo Caٌada in Albacete, leaving one of the animals dead and two seriously injured. The driver was unharmed.

The accident occurred at 2.24pm when the truck tried to overtake a car traveling at low speed, the local Albacete police force and Town Hall explained in a message on Twitter. As the circus vehicle sped up to enter the other lane, it tipped over – likely due to the uneven weight distribution and the movement of the elephants, said sources from Spain’s DGT highway authority.

The surviving group of elephants was let loose and wandered the highway after the crash. For more than two hours the A-30 was closed with traffic redirected to the N-301, causing massive tailbacks…

Trump Continues Amazon Attacks, Says It Costs USPS ‘Massive Amounts Of Money’ – The Hill

President Trump is not backing down on his argument that Amazon financially hurts the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), tweeting on Tuesday that the mega-retailer costs USPS “massive amounts of money.”

“I am right about Amazon costing the United States Post Office massive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy. Amazon should pay these costs (plus) and not have them bourne [sic] by the American Taxpayer. Many billions of dollars. P.O. leaders don’t have a clue (or do they?)!” Trump tweeted.

The president’s strike at Amazon on Tuesday follows a series of tweets in which he criticized the company’s shipping arrangements with USPS.

“Only fools, or worse, are saying that our money losing Post Office makes money with Amazon,” the president tweeted Monday. “THEY LOSE A FORTUNE, and this will be changed. Also, our fully tax paying retailers are closing stores all over the country… not a level playing field!”…

Trump Says Military Will Guard U.S.-Mexico Border Until Wall Is Built – Military Times

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he’s directing the U.S. military to secure the U.S.-Mexico border in lieu, for now, of a border wall.

“We’re going to be doing things militarily until we can have a wall and proper security.” Trump said.

Trump’s comments came as he sat near Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, who was reportedly at the White House for discussions around immigration.

A defense official who spoke on the condition of anonymity had no immediate details as to how many troops would be used, or what authorities they would have, but said the presence could be similar to the 2006-2008 patrols U.S. military personnel conducted under Operation Jump Start….

Gordon Chang: ‘China Can Huff And Puff,’ But U.S. Holds ‘Almost All The Cards’ In Trade Fight – Breitbart

The United States has “enormous leverage” over China that can be used to bend the Chinese government’s trade policies, Gordon Chang, an expert on China and columnist at The Daily Beast, said on Monday’s edition of Breitbart News Tonight in an interview with co-hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

Chang framed China’s trade policies as designed to harm America’s economy. “In terms of trade war, China for decades has been trying to undermine the American economy. Whether we call it a ‘trade war’ or whether we call it just ‘trade friction,’ Beijing has been trying with predatory means, and especially with a much more mercantilist attitude, to game the system.”

“I don’t think we have to worry too much about Beijing, and the reason is that we are the trade deficit country when it comes to China,” assessed Chang. “Last year, 88.8 percent of China’s overall merchandise trade surplus related to sales to the U.S., which means there’s tremendous leverage that we have because they need access to our market…

Border Patrol Agents Overwhelmingly Support Trump’s Wall In New Survey – Washington Times

Border Patrol agents say they can’t be much clearer: They want more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a survey conducted by the National Border Patrol Council, the agents’ union, they overwhelmingly supported adding a “wall system” in strategic locations, embracing President Trump’s argument that it will boost their ability to nab or deter would-be illegal immigrants.

Agents also said they need the government to change the “catch and release” policy. They often have to immediately release illegal border crossers they arrest, giving them the chance to disappear into the shadows with the 11 million other illegal immigrants in the U.S.

The findings appear to undercut the argument of congressional Democrats…

Howard University Snowflakes Demand Campus Police Be Disarmed – PJ Media

Howard University students recently occupied several buildings on campus in an effort to make the administration take their demands seriously. Of course, these being modern college students, one of the demands was the most idiotic thing students could possibly ask for, that campus police be disarmed:

We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives.

If the University truly respects the value of Black life, it must take a preventative approach to police violence. As long as campus police officers have guns, there is a potential for lethal violence, and we cannot afford to wait until a tragedy occurs to disarm them.

If Howard University values black lives, they should disarm their police officers? (Many of whom are black themselves.)…

Saudi Arabia’s crown prince affirmed Israel’s right to exist and criticized former President Obama’s Iran policy in an interview published Monday, pointedly bucking other leaders in the Arab world and signaling support for President Trump’s Middle East agenda.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, 32, told The Atlantic that both Israelis and Palestinians “have the right to have their own land” – a surprising assertion given that many Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, do not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt announced Monday that he is scrapping former President Barack Obama’s strict new fuel-efficiency and greenhouse gas rules for cars and light trucks.

Pruitt said the Obama administration’s rules that set a 54-mile per gallon standard by 2025, up from the current average of 38.3 mpg, were “not appropriate” in light of recent automobile sales data and should be revised. He did not say what the new standards should be but argued the Obama targets are “too high.”

Anti-Gun Sociopath David Hogg Caught On Reddit Celebrating The Mass Killing Of “Billions Of People” As Being “Great For The Environment” – Natural News

Anti-gun sociopath David Hogg – see daily news coverage at HoggWatch.com – has been caught in a Reddit post celebrating the death of billions of people from mosquito-borne disease, an InfoWars investigation has now found.

Mosquitoes “kill humans, billions of them, which is great for the environment,” Hogg stated in a Reddit post from late 2017, confirming that Hogg is not merely a foul-mouthed bully of legal firearms owners, but actually despises humanity and celebrates the mass killing of billions of people.

Like many indoctrinated youth, Hogg has been taught by the globalist-run public school system that human beings are bad and must be eliminated through depopulation schemes in order to “save the climate.”

This position is consistent with the genocidal desires of Bill Gates, Ted Turner and many other noted globalists who actively seek to reduce human population through nefarious means…

U.S. Senate Finally Rolls Back Idiotic Dodd-Frank Banking Regulations – Daily Caller

The Senate passed a bipartisan bill Wednesday that rolls back key components of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

Senators voted 67-31 in favor of the most comprehensive changes to Dodd-Frank since the sweeping banking regulations became law. Seventeen Democratic senators joined Republicans in the Senate to approve the roll back.

The bill is the brainchild of Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo and aims to rework a number of the protective barriers Dodd-Frank put between consumers, banks and the greater economy in the wake of the 2007-2009 Great Recession.

“This bill has received widespread support for good reason: the cycle of lending and job creation has been stifled by onerous regulation,” Crapo said…

$2.3 Billion Goof: New Australian Commuter Trains Too Wide For Tunnels – WorldNetDaily

No one disputes this Australian state’s need to upgrade its rail-transit fleet after 40 years of service.

The New South Wales regional train system in and around Sydney operates with a variety of trains, the oldest rolling stock – called V-sets – and newer XPT longer-distance carriers. After four decades, purchasing 512 new carriages at a cost of $2.3 billion had become a necessity. And with the purchase, commuters can look forward to mobile-phone charging stations, accessible toilets and more space for bike racks and luggage.

All good, except for one rather major problem.

The new trains are too wide for existing tunnels, reports News.com.au.

Whereas Transport for NSW’s current trains are 114.17 inches wide, the replacement trains on order are 122.05 inches in width. Because trains sway and tilt, particularly when rounding curves, TfNSW set a minimum clearance, or “kinematic envelope,” of 7.88 inches around the current rolling stock…

Professor Notes Men Are Taller Than Women On Average, Social Justice Warriors Storm Out Angrily – Hot Air

Ten days ago I wrote about a panel discussion that took place at Portland State University on the topic of intersectionality as a religion. That panel was actually a follow-up of sorts to another event at the school featuring ex-Google engineer James Damore.

I knew about the earlier event but, until yesterday, I hadn’t seen this amazing moment that took place during that discussion. At the mention of a simple anatomical fact (men are on average taller than women) a group of SJW’s got up and stormed out, apparently damaging the sound system on the way to the lobby.

The speaker you’ll see here is biology professor Heather Heying, wife of professor Bret Weinstein. Both Heying and Weinstein left Evergreen State College as part of a settlement deal last year. Heying was making a point about physiological differences between men and women. “Are men taller than women on average?” Heying asked rhetorically. She added, “Does anyone take offense at that fact?”

Domestic Terrorist Who Murdered Two New York Cops In 1971 To Walk Free – New York Post

A cold-blooded cop-killer who gunned down two of the New York’s Finest nearly half a century ago was paroled and will soon walk out of prison a free man, The Post has learned

Domestic terrorist Herman Bell – who fancies himself a “political prisoner” – was one of a trio of Black Revolutionary Army thugs who lured Officers Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones to a Harlem housing project with a phony 911 call back in 1971.

As the unsuspecting cops approached, the three opened fire for no apparent reason – except that their targets were cops.

Jones died instantly and Piagentini, who was already hit 12 times, begged for his life.

Instead, the heartless Bell finished him off with the cop’s own gun.

“Right now, I’m in shock,” the officer’s distraught widow, Diane Piagentini, told The Post, declining to comment further. “I just got the news this morning. I just can’t.”

Bell and the others escaped the death penalty only because capital punishment was illegal at the time…

Woman Sentenced To Two Years In Prison For Marrying Her Own Daughter – Lawron Constitution
A 45-year-old Duncan woman received a 10-year sentence in the Department of Corrections – two years in prison and eight years suspended – for her incestuous marriage with her daughter.

Patricia Ann Spann, 45, entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to a count of incest, records indicate. District Judge Ken Graham imposed the sentence; she will be sent to the sex and violent offenders registration unit in addition to the sex offenders registry and she will have no less than three years of probation upon release.

Spann pleaded guilty to marrying her 26-year-old biological daughter in March 2016 in Comanche County. Duncan police began the investigation into the couple’s relationship in August 2016. It was part of an investigation about children in the Spanns’ Duncan house. Appeals Court Backs Trump, Texas In Sanctuary City Fight – Washington Times

States have the power to punish sanctuary cities within their borders and to force local police and sheriff’s departments to cooperate in turning over illegal immigrants to the federal government for deportation, an appeals court ruled Tuesday in upholding a Texas law.

The 3-0 decision by a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals marks a major victory for President Trump, who has demanded punishment for sanctuary cities that thwart the federal government to protect illegal immigrants.

The judges didn’t go that far, but they did say the federal government’s detainer requests, which ask local governments to hold illegal immigrants for pickup, are legal. Localities can refuse based on their own resources, the court ruled – but the detainer requests are legal, the judges said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, praised the ruling.

Snowflake Update: More Than Half Of Millennials Going Through ‘Quarter-Life Crisis’, Research Finds – The Independent

Six in 10 millennials claim to be going through a “quarter-life” crisis, according to a new study.

Many of us are familiar with the trope of a mid-life crisis – a person in middle age who is feeling stuck in a rut, and who reacts by indulging in erratic behaviour like making spontaneous career decisions or buying a motorbike.

But now it seems more and more of us are evaluating our existence far earlier as a new study reveals more than half of millennials are experiencing a “quarter-life crisis”.

The study, carried out by First Direct bank and psychologist Dr Oliver Robinson, aimed to look at how people can use a crisis as a spark for change, but in the process discovered a huge number of 25 to 35-year-olds are struggling to cope amid financial, career and personal pressures.

Analysing 2,000 Brits, the study found that financial difficulties were the biggest single cause, with more than half (53 per cent) of people going through a quarter-life crisis admitting they spend more than they earn each month…

Leftist Crime Update: Federal Judge Delaying Trial Of Scandalous Democrat IT Man Imran Awan – FrontPage

Trump Names First Woman, ‘Seasoned Spymaster,’ To Head CIA – Breitbart

Gina Haspel will be the first woman to head the nation’s top intelligence shop if she is confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The nomination came after President Donald Trump replaced Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with Mike Pompeo, the current CIA director.

The historic promotion for Haspel, 61, comes one year after she was nominated by Trump to serve as the deputy director of the CIA, a post with responsibilities that include assisting the CIA director with “managing intelligence collection, analysis, covert action, counterintelligence, and liaison relationships with foreign services,” her CIA bio states:

Ms. Haspel is a career intelligence officer, having joined the CIA in 1985. She has extensive overseas experience and served as Chief of Station in several of her assignments. Trump Travels To San Diego To Inspect Border Wall Prototypes – Fox News
.

.
President Donald Trump and members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection viewed prototypes of the Mexican border wall in San Diego Tuesday. Trump spent most of his visit out of earshot of the press, but walked over to make brief remarks during his tour.

He said he looked at the current border “fence” and saw where holes had been cut and re-plugged by authorities.

“The fence is not strong enough, it’s not the right idea,” he said.

Speaking with a CBP agent, Trump asked why they want a wall with “see-through” capability. The agent said that behind a wall that is opaque, large groups of illegal immigrants and smugglers can band together and rush over the wall at once without American authorities knowing.

Dog Dies After United Flight Attendant Forces It Into Overhead Bin – New York Post

On Monday night, a dog died in a plane after a United Airlines flight attendant forced the dog into an overhead bin.

Maggie Gremminger, a passenger on a flight from Houston to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, uploaded a photo of the dog’s owners on Twitter. “I want to help this woman and her daughter. They lost their dog because of an @united flight attendant. My heart is broken,” reads the image caption.

The Points Guy reports that during their flight, an attendant insisted that the woman put her dog, which was held in a TSA-approved pet carrier, in an overhead bin for the rest of the flight.

Passengers heard barking during the flight, but didn’t learn that the dog had died until the flight was over.

“There was no sound as we landed and opened his kennel,” passenger June Lara writes in a Facebook post. “There was no movement as his family called his name. I held her baby as the mother attempted to resuscitate their 10 month old puppy.”…

Still More Bad News (For Democrats) About The GOP Tax Cuts – Investor’s Business Daily
.

.
A new survey shows that not only are most people – including minorities and women – seeing extra money in their paychecks thanks to the GOP tax cuts, but Trump is benefitting as well. What will Nancy “Crumbs” Pelosi have to say about that?

The survey, conducted by LendEDU, found that among those who have seen an increase in take-home pay, the average is $130.76 a month – or nearly $1,600 for the year.

That might look like crumbs to multi-millionaire liberals like Pelosi, but it’s real money to middle class families. In fact, the survey found that 55% feel more confident about their financial situation as a result of the tax cuts. And fully 70% say they are either very or somewhat happy about the tax reforms that Republicans passed…

Your Computer Is Racist – Daniel Greenfield

Americans often wonder why Congress isn’t doing anything. They’re sadly mistaken. Their elected representatives are doing things all the time. Like fighting computer racism.

Artificial intelligences, like Hal 9000 from 2001, Skynet from Terminator and Alexa from your living room, are coming. And your elected representatives are determined to see to it that like the living citizens of this nation, its artificial intelligences will be thoroughly screened for any traces of bigotry.

The bill in question is the FUTURE of Artificial Intelligence Act. You can tell it’s futuristic because FUTURE is in all caps like the acronym of some futuristic space police force. Instead of space cops though, the FUTURE Act sets up “the Federal Advisory Committee on the Development and Implementation of Artificial Intelligence.” Establishing useless advisory committees is what Congress does best.

The bill, which has 8 co-sponsors (6 of them Democrats), seeks to promote, among other things, “the unbiased development and application of artificial intelligence.”…

NRA, GOP Senators Push Back On Trump’s Gun Proposals – Axios
.

.
The NRA and members of the GOP pushed back on President Trump’s comments during a bipartisan meeting at the White House on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Trump encouraged several things that the NRA wouldn’t agree with, including taking guns away from owners without due process. He also told lawmakers: “I’m a fan of the NRA, there’s no bigger fan… but that doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything.”

The NRA said the meeting was “great TV” but “bad policy,” per The Hill:

“While today’s meeting made for great TV, the gun control proposals discussed would make for bad policy… Instead of punishing law-abiding gun owners for the acts of a deranged lunatic our leaders should pass meaningful reforms that would actually prevent future tragedies.”…

Putin Unveils ‘Invincible’ Nuclear Weapons – BBC

Russia has developed a new array of nuclear weapons that are invincible, according to President Vladimir Putin. Mr Putin made the claims as he laid out his key policies for a fourth presidential term, ahead of an election he is expected to win in 17 days’ time.

The weapons he boasted of included a cruise missile that he said could “reach anywhere in the world”. He said of the West: “They need to take account of a new reality and understand… [this]… is not a bluff.”

Giving his annual state of the nation speech, Mr Putin used video presentations to showcase the development of two new nuclear delivery systems that he said could evade detection.

One included a “low-flying, difficult-to-spot cruise missile… with a practically unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path, which can bypass lines of interception and is invincible in the face of all existing and future systems of both missile defence and air defence”…

Leftist-Controlled California Has Worst ‘Quality Of Life’ In U.S. – Fox News

Awards season is in full swing in California, and the Golden State just took home a booby prize of its own. California ranks dead last among U.S. states in quality of life, according to a study by U.S. News, ranking behind New Jersey (49th) and Indiana (48th).

The ignominious honor reflects California’s low marks in the sub-categories of environmental quality and social engagement. The latter category measures voting participation and community bonds.

Californians scored poorly in part because they’re simply insufferable, U.S. News suggested.

“In addition to a healthy environment, a person’s quality of life is largely a result of their interactions with those around them,” the magazine wrote in a blurb accompanying the results.

One way to measure quality life is whether residents can even afford to have a roof over their heads, and by that standard, California is failing…

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) fined Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign $14,500 for accepting illegal in-kind foreign contributions from the Australian Labor Party (ALP) during the 2016 elections.

The ruling stems from a February 2016, conservative activist group Project Veritas video showing Australian nationals working for the Sanders campaign on the dime of the Australian taxpayer funded ALP.

Republican and former New Hampshire House speaker William O’Brien filed a complaint with the FEC shortly after Project Veritas made the footage public, alleging the ALP had made “prohibited foreign contributions” to the Sanders campaign, according to WMUR…

Jobless Claims Fall To Lowest Level Since 1969 – Business Insider

Initial jobless claims fell last week to a 48-year low. First-time filings for unemployment benefits totaled 210,000, the lowest level since December 1969, data from the Department of Labor showed on Thursday. It was a decrease of 10,000 from the prior week and below economists’ forecast for 225,000 claims, according to Bloomberg.

The weekly-jobless-claims data offers the most real-time look into the labor market, since many people file for unemployment benefits not long after they lose their jobs. The four-week moving average of claims, which irons out some of the week-by-week volatility, fell by 5,000 to 220,500 – also the lowest since 1969.

The data shows that the jobs market remains tight, especially for highly skilled workers. This is the kind of jobs market that’s likely to encourage the Federal Reserve to continue raising borrowing costs. It’s expected to do so three times this year.

“We’ve seen continuing strength in the labor market – we’ve seen some data that in my case will add some confidence to my view that inflation is moving up to target,” said Jerome Powell…

Why Did The FBI Let A Congressional Hacking Suspect Leave The Country? – Daily Caller

In March 2017, FBI agents were tailing House of Representatives IT aides suspected of hacking Congress, and apprehended one at the airport trying to make a hasty exit to Pakistan. She refused to speak with them, and a search revealed that she was carrying an apparently illegal amount of cash.

The FBI allowed Hina Alvi, wife of Imran Awan, to board the plane anyway – then filed paperwork saying agents believed she had no intention of returning to the U.S.

For nearly a year since, the case has lingered despite the House Office of Inspector General (OIG) determining that the family of Pakistanis made “unauthorized access” to Congress’s data shortly before the election.

Following revelations about the FBI’s actions in the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email server and Department of Justice officials’ handling of the Trump dossier, attention has turned to the agencies’ apparently lax attitude toward the congressional cyber breach case…

Obama Regime Official Who Helped Anti-Trump Dossier Author Was Executive At Lobbying Firm For Russians Who Bought Uranium One – Breitbart

Jonathan M. In 2010, Rosatom infamously purchased a controlling stake in Uranium One, the Canadian uranium mining company with operations in the U.S. The purchase was approved by the Obama administration in a decision that is currently being probed by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

In a statement to Breitbart News, APCO Worldwide, where Winer served as senior vice president from 2008 to 2013, denied that the firm’s work for Rosatom’s subsidiary Tenex was related to the purchase of Uranium One or to the acquisition of uranium in general. Judge Rejects Lawsuit Challenging Federal Marijuana Ban – Washington Times

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging marijuana’s status as Schedule 1 controlled substance, leaving cannabis for now in the same category as drugs including heroin and ecstasy.

“[P]laintiffs’ claim is an administrative one, not one premised on the constitution,” the judge wrote, and “is best understood as a collateral attack on the various administrative determinations not to reclassify marijuana into a different drug schedule.”

Here’s The Most Dangerous City In America, And It’s Not Detroit – Daily Caller

A new report names Baltimore, Md., as the most dangerous city in America after the city had the highest per capita murder rate in the country for 2017.

USA Today analyzed 2017 law enforcement crime data from the 50 biggest cities in the nation and found that Baltimore had a higher per capita murder rate than cities like New Orleans and Detroit.

Baltimore came in first with about 56 people murdered per 100,000 in 2017, seeing about 343 homicides throughout the course of the year. New Orleans, on the other hand, saw 40 per 100,000 killed and Detroit saw 39 per 100,000.

The city also saw more total homicides than big cities like Los Angeles, Dallas and New York City. The USA Today analysis left out St. Louis, a smaller city, that would have beaten Baltimore’s per capita homicide rate.

Baltimore struggled to fight the gun violence plaguing the city in 2017, with activists hosting “ceasefire weekends” in an attempt to urge people to stop murdering each other…

Leftist Corruption Update: Secret Obama-Era Deal Derails Key Sanctions On Iran’s Propaganda Network – Washington Free Beacon

The Trump administration waived key sanctions on Iran’s main propaganda network last month, causing outrage among Iranian dissidents and administration insiders who tracked the effort to a little known Obama-era side deal with Iran that bars these sanctions from being implemented, according to multiple sources who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon.

Republicans Raising Twice As Much Money As Democrats In 2018 Cycle – Daily Caller

Japan To Buy At Least 20 More F-35A Stealth Fighters – Reuters

Japan plans to buy at least 20 additional F-35A stealth fighters over the next six years, some or all of which it may purchase directly from Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) in the United States rather than assemble locally, three sources said.

The Russians launched pro-Trump and Pro-Hillary websites and organized pro-Trump and anti-Trump rallies. The anti-Trump rallies were much more successful. It’s a lot easier to get leftist sheep out to protest than conservatives who work all day.

But these Russians have nothing on Barack Obama. The Russians spent a reported $100,000 on Facebook ads during the election. Barack Obama spent $350,000 to interfere with the Israeli elections to unseat pro-U.S. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Illegal Alien Pleads Guilty To Stealing $1 Million Via Bogus Child Tax Credit Claims – Washington Examiner

A Mexican man residing illegally in Milwaukee, Wis., pled guilty and agreed to self-deport after Justice Department officials discovered he stole more than $1 million from the government by filing a large number of bogus Additional Child Tax Credit claims, the Eastern District of Wisconsin’s office announced Tuesday.

Dimas Chavez-Pina pled guilty on Feb. 2 to theft of government money and aggravated identity theft for pilfering $1,058,827 from the U.S. Treasury between 2011 and 2014, the district’s U.S. attorney Gregory J. Haanstad said in a statement.

The 29-year-old man applied for Individual Tax Identification Numbers from the Internal Revenue Service, which the tax agency gives to non-citizens who, because of their immigration status, do not have a social security number. ITIN recipients can then use the unique number to file income tax returns.

Chavez-Pina applied for an unspecified number of ITINs with personal information he had stolen from Mexican citizens, according to the plea agreement…

Drug Needles And Human Feces Litter Streets Of San Francisco As Infectious Disease Expert Warns Area Is Becoming Dirtier Than Some Slums In India, Brazil – Daily Mail
.

.
San Francisco may be America’s most expensive city to live in, but it’s also quickly becoming one of the dirtiest in the world as well. NBC Bay Area journalists recently conducted a survey of 153 blocks of downtown San Francisco and found trash on every street.

Trash bags and litter are one problem, but the report found that used needles and human feces are also common sights downtown – even near upscale hotels, government buildings and in playgrounds. In total, the journalists found 100 drug needles and more than 300 piles of feces during their investigation.

If stuck by a used needle, one can be infected with diseases like HIV or Hepatitis. Fecal matter is also not just a smelly nuisance…

More Global Warming Fraud: NOAA Caught Adjusting Big Freeze Out Of Existence – Breitbart

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has yet again been caught exaggerating ‘global warming’ by fiddling with the raw temperature data. This time, that data concerns the recent record-breaking cold across the northeastern U.S. which NOAA is trying to erase from history.

If you believe NOAA’s charts, there was nothing particularly unusual about this winter’s cold weather which caused sharks to freeze in the ocean and iguanas to drop out of trees.

Here is NOAA’s January 2018 chart for Northeast U.S. – an area which includes New England along with NY, PA, NJ, DE and MD.

You’d never guess from it that those regions had just experienced record-breaking cold, would you?

Fatal Bureau Of Investigation – Lloyd Billingsley
.

.
After Nikolas Cruz gunned down 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, FBI special agent Robert Lasky, head of the bureau’s Miami division, said he “truly regrets” the pain caused by the FBI’s failure to act on a tip about the shooter.

The FBI said it had no way to trace the tip, then FBI boss Christopher Wray said the message was never passed on to the FBI’s Miami field office, as official protocol required. Relatives of the victims might have noted the passive verb construction.

In typical style, Wray failed to name the person who never passed on the tip, and offered no explanation why that person might have done so. Wray did say “we deeply regret the additional pain this causes all those affected by this horrific tragedy.”…

RINO Douchebag Says Trump Should Back Never-Trumper Asshat For Senate – News Max

President Donald Trump needs to get behind Mitt Romney’s run for Senate in Utah, which is a sign of a rising Republican party for the 2018 midterms, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told The New York Times.

“I can’t imagine that he’s not,” McConnell told the paper Friday after Romney announced his Senate campaign. “We don’t want to lose the seat, and this looks like a pretty formidable candidate.”

President Trump had been called a “phony” by Romney during the 2016 presidential campaign. And while Trump called Romney a “choke artist,” he did consider him among his Secretary of State candidates before entering the White House.

“I’m not always with the president on what he might say or do, and if that happens, I’ll call them like I see them, the way I have in the past,” Romney told a GOP dinner in Provo, Utah, on Friday, while adding he supports the Trump administration agenda and can work with the White House, according to the report…

Would-Be Burglar Knocks His Accomplice Out By Hurling A Brick At His Head – Daily Mail
.

.
Two would-be burglars have comically caused their own undoing after one man hurled a brick at the head of his partner-in-crime.

The men were attempting a break-in at a building in China using two bricks, but their coordination left a lot to be desired.

One thief can be seen throwing his weapon, before perilously walking across the line of fire of his co-conspirator and is subsequently collected by the second projectile.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Valentine’s Day outside a nondescript Shanghai warehouse.

The footage was posted to Weibo by the Shanghai Police department, and has since been viewed nearly 15 million times on the streaming website alone…

Anti-Gun News Outlets Push False Claim That Florida Shooter Was ‘Trained’ By The NRA – Daily Caller

“TRAINED BY THE NRA.”

That’s the bombastic and misleading headline running in The New York Daily News’ Saturday print edition about Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old man who confessed to murdering 17 high school students and faculty in Parkland, Fla., on Feb. 14.

The rampage, in which Cruz used an AR-15, sparked a typical debate over gun rights, with Democrats and liberals calling for increased gun control. Part of the strategy has been to link Cruz to the National Rifle Association, the largest gun lobby in the U.S.

The Daily News cited an Associated Press report in its misleading article, but without providing additional context that undercuts the idea that Cruz was “trained” by the NRA.

Instead, Cruz was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program at Stoneman Douglas High School, where Wednesday’s shooting took place. JROTC programs operate in more than 1,700 high schools across the U.S. and are sponsored by the U.S. Army rather than the NRA…
