The Left’s twisted fascination with “identity”
Individual Leftists may, from time to time, learn to reject Statism, and the worship of the State, but the ideology of leftism is inexorably wedded to the ideals of Collectivism, which demands the State be supreme in all matters including charity. Lena Dunham, writing an op-ed for the NY Times (you know a newspaper is intellectually bankrupt when it elevates the foolish to positions of credibility) is aghast that women might pay for their own birth control
“Birth control pills are many women’s method of choice for preventing unintended pregnancy and should be covered by all insurance policies for that reason alone,” she writes, but then adds that “millions of women living with endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, cystic acne, migraines, uterine abnormalities and a history of ectopic pregnancies, birth control can be a crucial, even lifesaving, medical treatment.”
If the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress succeed in stripping funding from Planned Parenthood and giving employers carte blanche to deny women necessary medication under murky notions of moral disdain, all paths to health and wellness will disappear for a huge swath of Americans.
“All paths” to health will disappear? So, women could never, say, pay for their own birth control? No health insurance would cover birth control? Planned parenthood is the only option for birth control? This is wildly inaccurate. And, understand this. Not giving federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, will hardly prevent that organization from offering services
The group, however, showed, in its latest annual report, that it is performing even more abortions and providing less contraception services — all while its taxpayer funding has increased.
In 2015-2016, Planned Parenthood reports performing 328,348 abortions – an increase of 4,349 abortions over the 323,999 abortions the group states it performed in 2014-2015. The organization also reported 2,945,059 contraception services in 2014-2015, and 2,808,815 of the same services in its latest report, a drop of 136,244 within a year.
With regard to its revenue, the new report shows Planned Parenthood’s total revenue to be $1,354.3 million, an increase over the $1,296.1 million reported in 2014-2015. The organization shows an increase in government reimbursement and grants this year, reporting $554.6 million in taxpayer funding, while in 2014-2015 it reported $553.7 million.
Planned Parenthood reported an “Excess in Revenue Over Expenses” of $58.8 million in 2014-2015. That amount rose to $77.5 million this past year.
So, Planned Parenthood, which Dunham practically elevates to sainthood, could not offer free birth control to women who cannot afford it? Certainly in Planned Parenthood were a corporation raking in $78 million a year Dunham would demand they pony up some of their “obscene profits”. Yet, in this case Dunham, being a Leftist can never imagine any solution but one that emanates from the federal government. How very collectivist of Dunham. This is the fatal flaw in Leftism that leads it to destroy everything it touches. Leftism sees the State as the only possible solution to any and every problem. Individuals are seen as helpless dependents who will perish without a massive bureaucracy to care for them from birth.
This belief also leads the Left to reject individual liberties in favor of the “common good” and “equality”. As a wise man said you may have equality, or you can have liberty, but you cannot have both. To ensure the egalitarian utopia the Left desires the government must be supreme, the sole arbiter of what “rights” individuals may have, and when such rights may be sacrificed upon the altar of Collectivism. In short, collectivist demands that natural rights be surrendered so as to reach this fictional utopia where all are equal.
Such a desire is lunacy, yet the Left is hopelessly addicted to this lunacy.
So President Trump signed a law allowing states to deny federal money to organizations that provide abortion services. Here is how CNN chose to report that news
Trump privately signs anti-Planned Parenthood law
Well, that is a bit dramatic now isn’t it? But CNN did not stop there
President Donald Trump privately signed a bill on Thursday that allows states to withhold federal money from organizations that provide abortion services, including Planned Parenthood, a group frequently targetedby Republicans. The bill, which the usually camera-friendly President signed without any media present, reverses an Obama-era regulation that prohibited states from withholding money from facilities that perform abortions, arguing that many of these facilities also provide other family planning and medical services. The bulk of federal money Planned Parenthood receives, though, goes toward preventive health care, birth control, pregnancy tests and other women’s health services. Federal law prohibits taxpayer dollars from funding abortions and Planned Parenthood says 3% of the services it provides are abortions.
A budget statement for 2010 fiscal year from a Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan, Texas, records an “abortion quota” of 1,135 procedures at $313.29 each, according to Abby Johnson, pro-life activist and former director of the Bryan Planned Parenthood clinic. She left the clinic in 2009 after assisting an ultrasound-guided abortion of a fetus at 13 weeks gestation.Johnson tells National Review Online that the quota doubled from 2009 to 2010, while she had believed at the time that Planned Parenthood wanted to reduce it. After expressing her concerns to her supervisor, Johnson told The Daily Caller, her supervisor laughed and replied, “But Abby, abortion is how we make our money.”
In its last annual report, Planned Parenthood reported performing 327,166 abortions and receiving $540.6 million in taxpayer funding, or nearly $1.5 million per day. It also reported $58.2 million in excess revenue and over $1.3 billion in net assets.
All I can say, as tired as I am, is GOOD!
Republican legislation letting states deny federal family planning money to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers squeezed narrowly through the Senate Thursday, rescued by an ailing GOP senator who returned to the Capitol after back surgery and a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Mike Pence.
In Congress’ latest clash mixing the politics of abortion, women’s health and states’ rights, Pence cast the decisive vote in a 51-50 roll call. The tally had been tied after two GOP senators, Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski and Maine’s Susan Collins, joined Democrats opposing the measure.
Senate approval sent the legislation to President Donald Trump, who was expected to sign it. The House voted its consent last month.
The bill erases a regulation imposed by former President Barack Obama shortly before he left office that lets states deny family planning funds to organizations only if they are incapable of providing those services. Some states have passed laws in recent years denying the money to groups that provide abortions
Score one for the good guys
Well, now we remember the numerous undercover videos that exposed the ugliness of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry don’t we? So how would a left wing state like, say
CaliMarxifornia react to such means of bathing the moral morass of Planned Paenthood? Would its legislature seek to come down on Planned Parenthood? No, no, instead they are going to go after the whistleblowers
The California legislature is near final approval of a bill that would make it a crime, punishable by a jail sentence, to carry out and distribute undercover video or audio stings against Planned Parenthood and other health-care groups.
The measure was inspired by two California antiabortion activists who made undercover videos of themselves trying to buy fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood. The project prompted multiple investigations by Congress and states.
The bill was approved by the California state Senate on Wednesday and has broad support in the Assembly, which passed an earlier version and is expected to concur in several Senate amendments before sending it to Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown.
California law, like laws in other states, already bars use of an electronic device to listen in on or record people without their permission.
The new measure, authored by Assembly member Jimmy Gomez with the backing of Planned Parenthood, protects health-care providers in particular and would prohibit the intentional disclosure of such recordings, video or audio, without the consent of all parties “in any forum, including, but not limited to, Internet Web sites and social media, or for any purpose …”
When faced with its own depravity, the Left will seek to punish those that tell the truth. It does not matter what the facts are, because, again, truth is not valued by the Left
Planned Parenthood is throwing its support behind Hillary Clinton, delivering what will be the organization’s first-ever endorsement in a presidential primary.
“Everything Planned Parenthood has believed in and fought for over the past 100 years is on the ballot,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, according to The New York Times.
Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination and a staunch supporter of abortion rights, thanked Planned Parenthood for its support.
“I’ll take on Republicans or anyone who tries to interfere with women’s health,” Clinton tweeted. “I am proud to have @PPact’s support in this important election.
“Yesterday was a preview of what would happen under a Republican president,” Clinton wrote, citing House legislation passed Wednesday that would defund Planned Parenthood for one year.
“Every single GOP presidential candidate would defund Planned Parenthood,” the former secretary of State added.
Clinton will officially accept Planned Parenthood’s support during a campaign rally next Sunday in Manchester, N.H., The New York Times said. Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the nonprofit’s advocacy arm, is making the endorsement.
The action fund plans to spend $20 million on presidential and Senate races this cycle in critical battleground states such as New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, the Times added.
The House passed an ObamaCare repeal package 240-181 Wednesday that includes language stripping federal funding from Planned Parenthood for one year. President Obama has vowed to veto the bill.
Conservatives rallied around defunding Planned Parenthood last summer after a series of undercover videos documented its involvement with fetal tissue research.
In a recent interview with Matt Lauer, actor Charlie Sheen disclosed that he is HIV-positive and has been aware of his HIV status for approximately four years. Since Sheen has a well-known sexual legacy and claims to have had sex with 5,000 women, Matt Lauer and the rest of humanity were understandably concerned that Sheen may have infected some of his many partners with HIV over the years.
Lauer asked Sheen pointedly, “Have you, since the time of your diagnosis, told every one of your sexual partners, before you had a sexual encounter, that you were HIV positive?” Sheen said, “Yes, I have.” Lauer: “No exception?” Sheen: “No exception.”
In this exchange, both Lauer and Sheen seem to assume it would be the right thing to inform a potential sexual partner that you are HIV-positive before engaging in sexual activity with him or her. Even if Sheen is not telling the whole truth, he seems to know he should at least publicly insist that he, without exception, told his sexual partners that he was HIV-positive before engaging in sexual activity with them.
Would it surprise you to know that Planned Parenthood disagrees? International Planned Parenthood Federation, of which Planned Parenthood Federation of America is an official affiliate, maintains it is a person’s “human right” not to tell their sexual partners they are HIV positive if they don’t want to.
Go Ahead, Infect People
It’s all laid out in International Planned Parenthood Federation’s booklet for HIV-positive youth entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” It says, “Young people living with HIV have the right to decide if, when, and how to disclose their HIV status.” It continues: “Sharing your HIV status is called disclosure. Your decision about whether to disclose may change with different people and situations. You have the right to decide if, when, and how to disclose your HIV status.”
In other words, Planned Parenthood thinks it’s your human right to risk exposing other people to a potentially deadly disease without telling them. Most of the states in the union disagree with Planned Parenthood. Lauer went on to ask Sheen, “What about criminal charges? In 35 states if you or someone who is HIV positive… have sex with someone else without divulging it, you can be charged with a crime.” Sheen said he understands.
But fortunately for him, International Planned Parenthood Federation is working to change that. “Healthy, Happy and Hot” explains, “Some countries have laws that say people living with HIV must tell their sexual partner(s) about their status before having sex, even if they use condoms or only engage in sexual activity with a low risk of giving HIV to someone else. These laws violate the rights of people living with HIV by forcing them to disclose or face the possibility of criminal charges.”
The pamphlet then gives tips to protect oneself from criminalization, and does say that the best way to protect yourself (which is apparently more important than protecting your partner) is to tell your partner that you are infected before you have sex. This section ends with the statement, “Get involved in advocacy to change laws that violate your rights.” It appears that, according to Planned Parenthood, Sheen’s right to have sex trumps his partners’ right to live. That should give him some peace of mind.
Also, Impair Your Sexual Judgment
Furthermore, to the Charlie Sheens of the world, take heart. Your days of sexual indulgence are far from over. Planned Parenthood’s booklet says, “There are lot’s (sic) of people who don’t mind whether their partner(s) is HIV negative or positive,” that it’s your right to “experience sexual pleasure” and that “you’ve done nothing wrong.” So don’t bother with any of that I’m-going-to-change-my-life rhetoric, Charlie. Don’t change! You’ve done nothing wrong!
Finally, Lauer was understandably concerned that Sheen’s drinking and drug use might affect his ability to take his medication regularly and to make responsible sexual choices that may affect his health and the health of others. He asked Sheen’s doctor, “Are you worried that in an impaired state, that Charlie will simply lapse in taking his medication? It impairs your judgement. Can he be trusted to continue to take that medicine on a regular basis if he continues to drink and perhaps do drugs?” Then Lauer said to Sheen directly: “You need to stop drinking.” Good job, Matt. You had the guts to say what everybody was thinking.
Everybody except Planned Parenthood, that is. Here is the “Healthy, Happy and Hot” advice on alcohol and drug consumption for HIV-positive youth: “Some people have sex when they have been drinking alcohol or using drugs. This is your choice. Being drunk or high can affect the decisions you might make about sex and safer sex. If you want to have sex and think you might get drunk or high, plan ahead by bringing condoms and lube or putting them close to where you usually have sex.”
It then gives this sound advice: “It’s not okay to have sex with someone who is so drunk or high that they are staggering, incoherent or have passed out.” Good on you, Planned Parenthood. Way to take a moral stand for what’s right.
So, Charlie Sheens of the world, rejoice. Planned Parenthood doesn’t think you should have to tell your partners that having sex with you might kill them, they want you to keep having sex no matter what because it is your human right, and they don’t mind if you do drugs and drink while you do it. And through their expansive sex-education programs, they want to fashion the rising generation of school children in Sheen’s image.
In fact, if Planned Parenthood is looking for a new poster child, I know just the guy. Looks like, after 5,000 tries, Sheen may have finally found his soul mate.
The Center for Medical Progress is up to undercover Planned Parenthood video #11 now, and yet each one still manages to horrify. Here we witness the banality of evil as an abortionist for the lavishly taxpayer-subsidized baby abattoir soullessly giggles about harvesting intact baby heads for market:
Just in time for Halloween.
The reason Planned Parenthood is generously subsidized by the federal government despite being highly profitable on its own is that the Democrat Party backs it to the hilt.
On tips from Torcer and Artfldgr. Hat tip: Washington Examiner.
In yet another capitulation to the liberal left, GOP establishmentarian Mitch McConnell says they’re not even gonna try to defund Planned Parenthood.
Linking the defunding of Planned Parenthood to a government funding bill is “an exercise in futility,” according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The Kentucky Republican lawmaker, in an interview with Politico Friday, says he’ll support instead a plan to fund the government into December with no conditions.
“It’s an exercise in futility,” McConnell says of the Planned Parenthood defunding effort. “I’m anxious to defund Planned Parenthood” but “the honest answer of that is that’s not going to happen until you have a president who has a similar view.”
“It’s better to be honest with the American people and say, ‘That won’t get it done.’”
According to Politico, McConnell favors a strategy that will include a short-term funding bill to buy time to negotiate a longer-term spending measure – and separately, a vote this month to federally ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
GOP lawmakers have called for the defunding of Planned Parenthood in the wake of hidden-camera videos showing officials brokering the distribution of fetal tissue to medical research.
But McConnell said either a Democratic minority would block the effort, or President Barack Obama would veto a bill even if it passed the Senate.
“Groups who deeply are concerned about the issue realize this [Planned Parenthood strategy] isn’t going to get that done,” McConnell said.
“What we are going to do is move to the pain-capable [abortion] bill sometime this month and see how people feel about that,” he said referring to a 20-week abortion ban proposal.
Ah well, great. There’s absolutely no thought given to maybe taking the argument to the American people and having them pressure Obama on the issue. Maybe that would even hurt the Democrats. But no, these idiots just love to cave. And then they wonder why Trump and others like Cruz are so popular.
Thousands of protestors showed up outside over 300 Planned Parenthood clinics Saturday morning.
Protestors tweeted photos of the crowds and their mostly hand-made signs, causing their hashtag, #ProtestPP, to trend on Twitter. At several protests, people carried a large pink sign that read “Planned Parenthood sells baby parts,” referring to a series of undercover videos that revealed the abortion giant sells aborted fetal organs and tissue to biomedical companies.

Despite the massive turnout, several people said there was little to no media presence at the events.
Several activist groups across the country came together with pastors and prominent faith leaders to organize the protests, including the Family Research Council, the Susan B. Anthony List, and Americans United for Life.
Eric Scheidler, director of the Pro-Life Action League, told the Washington Examiner Friday that he was “fully confident” at least 10,000 people would show up to protest but thinks it’s possible as many as 100,000 will participate.
One organizer told the Examiner that this is the largest protest he has seen in his 20 years working in the pro-fe movement.
What’s fueling the interest, organizers say, is how the footage shows Planned Parenthood workers discussing fetal tissue. In one video, an official appears to be haggling over the compensation for a fetus with undercover actors posing as human tissue buyers. In another, a medical director talks about “crushing” some parts of the fetus while keeping desirable organs intact.
“People are absolutely horrified by what they’re seeing,” said Scheidler, who organized the protest with Created Equal President Mark Harrington and Monica Miller, president of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. “These videos show Planned Parenthood in such a cold blooded, negative, callous light.”

Planned Parenthood has gone as far as to cut up and sell “the body parts of babies they abort, even going as far as cutting out the brains of children with hearts still beating,” said Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America, at a rally today in St. Paul. “This is the turning point in the history of abortion in our nation and our time to speak out, to have our pro-life message of hope and love for both woman and child heard by the media.”
“Women have been betrayed and Planned Parenthood has sold them and their preborn babies out, all for profit,” said Hawkins. “What’s worse, we the taxpayers are footing the bill, giving over half a billion dollars a year to the abortion giant. It’s time to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens told The Hill that she is confident the group will continue to receive Federal funding. Previous efforts to remove the abortion giant’s half a billion dollar Federal subsidy failed in Congress in July.
“I certainly believe that [we’ll be funded], because I believe the American people are speaking – and our patients, the one-in-five women who rely on Planned Parenthood over their lifetime – are [speaking to lawmakers],” she said.
The Center for Medical Progress released another Planned Parenthood video today. It once again features Holly O’Donnell, a former technician for StemExpress, one of the buyers of baby parts from Planned Parenthood. The video consists mostly of Miss O’Donnell describing an incident in which a baby’s heart was still beating, and she was instructed to cut through the baby’s face so that his brain–the baby was a boy–could be removed for sale. It is utterly appalling.
There have been multiple hints in the CMP videos that some babies are born alive and then killed by Planned Parenthood. That appears to have been true in this case, and there is another such suggestion from a different witness. I would think that at a minimum, a criminal investigation is warranted.
Warning: this video is not for the faint of heart. I am not a sensitive guy, but I had to steel myself to watch it.
The liberal media are generally trying to ignore the CMP videos, hoping the controversy they have caused will go away. The New York Times is typical: it has not yet mentioned today’s video. It hasn’t covered the content of the videos, except to misrepresent them and to defend Planned Parenthood. For example, today’s Times includes a story on a Reuters poll that is headlined, “Americans back federal funds for Planned Parenthood health services: poll.” The poll asked about women’s health exams, prenatal services and contraception, not abortion. The Times story begins:
Americans broadly support providing federal funding for free women’s health exams, screenings and contraception services, a Reuters/Ipsos poll has found, suggesting risks for Republicans criticizing Planned Parenthood as part of the 2016 campaigns.
Notice how the reporter defaults straight to politics. Happily, not many Republicans take campaign advice from the Times.
The non-profit’s image has taken a hit, the poll found, after an anti-abortion group earlier this year began releasing videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood officials negotiating prices for aborted fetal tissue.
The Times tries to keep alive the fiction that there is some doubt about what the videos show. The videos do not “purport” to show PP officials negotiating prices for aborted babies’ body parts. They show PP officials negotiating prices for aborted babies’ body parts. They show a lot more than that, too.
You have to read to the very end of the Times story to be told that the Reuters poll is actually bad news for Planned Parenthood:
But 44 percent of respondents who saw the videos said they now have a more negative view of Planned Parenthood, compared with 34 percent who said their views were unchanged.
Those 34% must have had an awfully negative view of PP to begin with. This is the kicker:
After the videos were described to poll respondents, 39 percent said Planned Parenthood should not receive government funding and 34 percent said federal dollars should continue.
You can read the actual poll results here. To say that the videos were “described” is a stretch; here is the question that was asked, along with the results. Click to enlarge:
Imagine what the reaction would have been if respondents had been told that PP extracts brains from babies with beating hearts.
Maybe the most significant aspect of the Reuters poll is that 37% said they have seen at least one of the CMP videos. That number will inexorably continue to rise. So the left’s effort to suppress the news about what the videos show hasn’t been very successful.
The governor of Arkansas has directed the state Department of Human Services to terminate its Medicaid contract with the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
In compliance with the request, the department sent a letter to Planned Parenthood of the Heartland on Friday as notice that the contract was being terminated.
“[T]he Arkansas Department of Human Services is hereby exercising its authority to terminate its existing agreements with Planned Parenthood of Arkansas & Eastern Oklahoma,” the correspondence reads. “The termination… will be effective 30 days from the date of this letter.”
Gov. Asa Hutchinson has also released a statement about the move, remarking that the decision was influenced by the recent video exposes’ outlining Planned Parenthood’s apparent harvesting and sale of aborted baby organs.
“It is apparent that after the recent revelations on the actions of Planned Parenthood, that this organization does not represent the values of the people of our state and Arkansas is better served by terminating any and all existing contracts with them,” he said. “This includes their affiliated organization, Planned Parenthood of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.”
Planned Parenthood likewise released a statement, stating that by revoking the agreement, states like Arkansas are aligning themselves with “extremists.”
“The politicians behind these reckless policies have allied themselves with extremists who will stop at nothing to end access to abortion – breaking laws, pushing misinformation, and violence and harassment of women and doctors,” it read in part.
Arkansas is the fourth state to pull funding to Planned Parenthood, following Alabama, Louisiana and New Hampshire. As previously reported, the New Hampshire State Executive Council voted earlier this month despite objections from Gov. Mary Hassan to cancel its $650,000 contract with the abortion giant. The funds will be reallocated to other women’s health facilities.
The day prior, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced that the state would terminate Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid contract.
“Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life,” he said. “It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state.”
The Obama administration has contended that it is illegal for states to terminate Medicaid contracts with Planned Parenthood because of its abortion services. Medicaid payments do not include abortions, but still provide support to the organization.
“Even though we anticipate a federal review, standing up for Arkansas values is most important to the governor,” spokesman J.R. Davis told the Arkansas Times.
“American tax dollars should not be used to subsidize billion-dollar corporations that inhumanely and illegally sell baby body parts,” Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Counsel Casey Mattox said in a statement. “Tax dollars that went to two Planned Parenthood clinics in Arkansas will be better used by the 179 community health centers and other clinics that actually provide comprehensive health care. We commend the governor and hope other states will follow his example.”
Ah, but just a week ago he swore he would shut them down!
I keep telling y’all
Of course, Planned Parenthood is kinda happy “toupee” their respects to the Trumpster
.DONALD TRUMP’S PLANNED PARENTHOOD PANDER Donald Trump’s economically illiterate proposal for funding Planned Parenthood (just the “good aspects”!) has earned a quasi-endorsement from the nation’s abortion provider. Via the Daily Beast: “Donald Trump seems to have realized that banning all abortions, shutting down the government, and defunding Planned Parenthood are extreme positions that are way too far outside the mainstream for even him to take,” said spokesman Eric Ferrero in a statement. “We hope that the rest of the GOP field will wake up and reconsider their extreme and unpopular positions on defunding preventive care, abortion bans, and the other economic issues that women and their families care about,” Ferrero continued.
But then Trump qualified: “What I would do when the time came, I’d look at the individual things they do. . . I’m sure they do some things properly and good and that are good for women, and I would look at that.”
Here’s the problem with Trump’s fund-this-not-that plan: That’s what the law says now, and it does nothing. After all, what does it actually mean that federal dollars cannot be used to fund abortion? For argument’s sake, let’s take it literally. Imagine that the federal government, which gave $528.4 million to Planned Parenthood in FY 2013-2014, appropriated that money in $1 bills, marked every individual bill — how about this stamp? — and said that none of the marked bills could be used for abortion. Every time Planned Parenthood paid for something abortion-related, it could not use any of the 528,400,000 government bills stuffed in the hallway closet.
Even if Planned Parenthood scrupulously followed that prohibition (LOL), the organization would be able to take $528.4 million in non-government dollars that it was spending on non-abortion-related services — and spend it on abortions, because those other things can now be covered by its federal subsidy. Thus all that the federal government does by funding Planned Parenthood is give it a $528.4-million cushion on top of which to butcher more babies.
Republicans, repeat after me: Money is fungible. There is no middle ground when it comes to funding Planned Parenthood, or any other abortion provider. You can’t fund “just the good parts.”
That’s not how money works. You’d think a businessman would know that.
Four Florida Planned Parenthood clinics have been cited for violating state regulations in the wake of surprise inspections ordered last week by Gov. Rick Scott.
The governor ordered the inspections after the release of a series of five, increasingly disturbing sting videos exposing the fact that the abortion giant is harvesting and selling the body parts of aborted babies.
“The videos are pretty disturbing,” the governor stated Wednesday. “So the right thing to do is to let the public know we are responding by doing an investigation to make sure they are complying with the law. It’s against the law to sell body parts.”
Three of the Florida facilities were found performing illegal 2nd trimester abortions, while the fourth facility was cited for “not keeping proper logs relating to fetal remains.”
The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA) found that the three facilities were performing the second trimester abortions even though they were only licensed to perform first trimester procedures.
“We will take immediate actions against these three facilities for performing second trimester abortions without a proper license,” stated the ACHA.
The agency also said that it has ordered the facilities to cease all second trimester abortions and that it “may take additional actions against these facilities including administrative sanctions.”
Planned Parenthood denied the allegations.
“In the health centers AHCA reported on we only perform first trimester abortions, which we measure according to accepted medical guidelines and in accordance with Florida regulations as up to 13 weeks and six days from a woman’s last menstrual cycle,” said Laura Goodhue, executive director of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates.
“This, as defined by rules, is still the first trimester. AHCA has never before indicated any different interpretation of this – including at inspections performed as recently as two weeks ago,” she added.
In recent weeks, Planned Parenthood has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in relation to its trade in fetal body parts. However, several of their denials have been shown to be false in footage released in subsequent installments of the sting video series.
For instance, last week, in response to an investigation launched by the state of Texas, Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast put out an image on their Facebook page claiming that its facilities “do not currently participate in fetal tissue donation or research. There is nothing to investigate.”
Mere days later, the Center for Medical Progress released their fifth undercover video, shot inside a Texas abortion facility under the purview of Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast. That video included gruesome footage of workers inside the facility sorting through the body parts of a 20-week aborted baby, including clearly visible arms, hands and legs, and discussing pricing with an undercover investigator posing as an interested buyer.
Planned Parenthood officials have also repeatedly claimed in recent weeks that all fees related to providing aborted baby parts to medical researchers only cover their costs. However, video after video has shown top Planned Parenthood officials discussing profit as a motive for their practice of selling the body parts – something that would appear to violate federal law against trafficking in human tissue.
Yesterday, New Hampshire announced that they were cutting $650,000 in taxpayer funding from the abortion giant in response to the videos. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has also pulled state funding of Planned Parenthood.
According to Fox News, 11 states have launched investigations into Planned Parenthood in light of the videos.
In Florida, one of the unannounced inspections, of a St. Petersburg facility, found that 25 out of 742 abortions performed between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 were illegally performed in the second trimester. According to the Wall Street Journal, each violation can earn a fine of up to $500.
At another facility, investigators found that there were 19 such illegal abortions in the same time frame, and at the third, 21 illegal abortions.
A Planned Parenthood counselor intentionally noted a rape by an allegedly prolific teen sexual predator as consensual to avoid the ‘hassle’ of reporting it, according to a police report.
The encounter allegedly involved Tyler Kost, 18, from San Tan Valley, Arizona, who has been charged with sexually assaulting 11 girls between October 2009 and April 2014 – although cops believe he may have attacked as many as 18.
One of his alleged victims was a 15-year-old girl who became pregnant following the assault and when she underwent an abortion through Planned Parenthood last December, her mother told a member of staff about the attack, FoxNews.com reported.
‘The counselor intentionally miscoded the assault as a consensual encounter,’ a police report states.
‘The counselor told them that they did not want the hassle of having to report the assault to law enforcement as they were a mandatory reporter.’
Planned Parenthood Arizona told Fox they have contacted the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department and said, if the allegations are true, it would be a ‘serious violation’ of its policies.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu added that he was ‘troubled’ by the allegations about Planned Parenthood and said they had been forwarded to state officials by the victim’s mother.
‘If this is true, they should absolutely be held accountable,’ he said.
Kost has been indicted on nearly 30 felony counts, including multiple counts of sexual assault with a minor, sexual abuse with a minor and sexual conduct with a minor. He also faces a count of child molestation.
Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles said the victims in the crimes alleged in the indictment issued Wednesday ranged from 12 to 17 years old.
Voyles said the offenses – which involved victims that Kost dated or knew – occurred between October 2009 and April 2014 meaning that Kost was 13 when the first offense allegedly took place.
But Voyles plans to try him as an adult on all charges.
‘In Arizona, once an individual turns 18, we don’t have a choice,’ Voyles said. ‘[State law] makes it fairly clear.’
Kost, a senior at Poston Butte High School, would face between 147 and nearly 334 years in prison if convicted of all the charges in the indictment, the prosecutor said.
Pinal County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kost two weeks ago, accusing him of being a serial sex predator who assaulted at least 18 students.
But Voyles said he could not comment on why the indictment accused Kost of crimes involving only 11 victims.
Babeu said the baby-faced Kost threatened and harassed victims to such an extent that two fled the state, and one attempted suicide.
‘This is a serious and serial sex offender and rapist,’ Babeu said.
The investigation was initiated after the Sheriff’s Office received a call March 25 from someone reporting that Kost had sexually abused and molested five teenage girls.
According to the indictment, none of the alleged sexual assaults occurred on a school campus.
Kost is accused of abusing the victims in his bedroom, in a parked car, a park and out in the desert.
In one case, Kost threatened, harassed and told one of the victims to kill herself, deputies said. The girl followed through and attempted suicide, but survived and was hospitalized.
While in the hospital, she allegedly got a message from Kost threatening that if she returned to school he would ‘make her life a living hell.’
In another case, a girl became pregnant after she was allegedly raped by Kost and ended up getting an abortion, the station KPHO reported.
‘He would assault these young female victims in their own bedrooms, in his bedroom, in the desert, at a community pool, at community parks,’ Babeu said.
Detectives said because he looked young and innocent, many people didn’t perceive him as a threat. His alleged victims included girls he had dated.
He was first jailed April 28 in connection with sex crimes against one victim and re-arrested three days later as sheriff’s investigators tied additional victims to the case.
Kost is scheduled to be arraigned on May 16.
Medical researchers are growing human organs in mice by implanting dead human baby organs into rodents, a practice that stands to gain greater scrutiny in light of undercover videos exposing what appears to be Planned Parenthood affiliates selling aborted baby parts to medical procurement companies like StemExpress.
In a fourth video released from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), Planned Parenthood personnel can be seen sifting through aborted baby parts allegedly to show what parts can be salvaged and sold.
These mice or rats are created by removing a human organ such as a kidney from a dead human baby and implanting it into a mouse or rat for the purpose of medical research.
As reported in Live Science, Duke University medical student Eugene Gu co-authored a study released in January in which he said, “Our long-term goal is to grow human organs in animals, to end the human donor shortage.” According to the report, Gu is also founder and CEO of Redwood, California biotech company Ganogen, Inc.
“In the new study, Gu and his colleagues obtained human fetal kidneys from StemExpress, a Placerville, California-based company that supplies researchers with tissue from deceased adults and fetuses,” reported Live Science in January. Gu contends that the mothers consented to donation, and scientists were separated from the “donation process.”
StemExpress is a primary buyer of baby parts from Planned Parenthood as noted in a Breitbart News article on the details of a fifth CMP video that was released Tuesday.
Ramesh Akkina of the University of Colorado published on the “future prospects” for a “new generation” of research in January 2013. An abstract for that publication detailed that one model “is prepared by transplantation of human fetal liver, thymus and HSC.”
In Gu’s study, fetal kidneys were transplanted into rats that lacked immune systems in order to keep the organs from being rejected, according to Live Science. Researchers have also attempted transplanting fetal hearts.
CEO and founder of StemExpress, Cate Dyer, claimed that all donors consent to donating the aborted baby parts, according to Live Science. Questions have arisen, however, over whether the mothers donating are truly “informed” as required under parameters for organ donation. Live Science reported that Dyer assured that mothers were not compensated for their donation.
While the mothers may not be receiving direct compensation, the undercover investigative videos documenting Planned Parenthood affiliates show what appears to be financial dealings between these abortion providers and medical waste procurement dealers such as StemExpress.
Ethical questions over these experiments have also arisen over creating a potential incentive to induce a pregnant woman to choose abortion.
After Center for Medical Progress videos began hitting the media, StemExpress promptly acquired a restraining order against CMP regarding further release of videos that involve StemExpress.
CMP released the fifth undercover video Tuesday in which a Planned Parenthood research director appears speaking with undercover investigators about selling whole intact aborted babies for resale to medical researchers.
Let’s go state by state, if Feds wouldn’t act.
Via Daily Caller:
New Hampshire legislators stripped the state’s six Planned Parenthood clinics of state funds Wednesday, deleting roughly one third of their public funding.
The state’s Republican-led Executive Council rejected a $639,000 funding contract with Planned Parenthood, reported local ABC affiliate WMUR9. The Council cited a series of undercover videos in the meeting, which show top Planned Parenthood doctors discussing and participating in the harvesting, dissection, and distribution of aborted fetuses. (RELATED: See How The Research Sausage Is Made In Latest Planned Parenthood Video)
The Center for Medical Progress plans to release more footage, and has alleged Planned Parenthood is illegally selling the aborted baby parts for profit. But Planned Parenthood maintains the fees it charges are legally legitimate and that they do not profit from the exchange. (RELATED: Planned Parenthood Allegations Turn On Squishy McConnell-Backed Law)
The New Hampshire Council told Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan the state should launch an investigation into local Planned Parenthood clinics, but the Attorney General’s office told WMUR9 it’s not pursuing the matter.
Democrats today blocked a bill to defund the Planned Parenthood baby organ harvesting industry today.
The Senate voted 53-46 on the cluture motion failing to get the 60 needed to move the bill forward.
Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell led the effort to keep Planned Parenthood funding by blocking an amendment to the Highway Bill by Mike Lee to defund the abortion harvesting group.
The move by McConnell made it necessary for conservatives to get 60 votes today for their bill.
They could only muster 53 votes.
Life News reported:
Senate Democrats today defeated an effort to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business by filibustering the bill and preventing a vote on it. Republicans were unable to secure the 60 voted needed to invoke cloture and stop debate on the bill, allowing an up or down vote.
The legislation follows four shocking videos that have caught Planned Parenthood doctors discussing and arranging the sale of body parts of aborted babies.
The Senate voted 53-46 on the cloture motion – failing to get the 60 votes needed to stop the Democratic filibuster against the de-funding measure. had the cloture vote been approved and the bill passed, and should the House pass its own bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood, President Barack Obama said he would veto the measure.
With the Senate voting against de-funding, attention now turns to attempts to de-fund Planned Parenthood via the budget process. Already, 18 House Republicans have said they will not allow passage of any essential bills to fund the federal government if such bills do not include language de-funding Planned Parenthood.
Attention will also now turn to Congressional and state efforts to investigate Planned Parenthood’s sale of body parts from aborted babies and state-level efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood further.

DENVER | Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains was hit with a complaint Wednesday for performing an abortion on a 13-year-old girl without reporting possible sexual abuse against the underage girl and returning her to the man who abused her.
The conservative Alliance Defending Freedom filed a complaint with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs against the Planned Parenthood affiliate on behalf of the pro-life Colorado Family Action.
A lawsuit filed against Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains and four unidentified employees on behalf of the girl was settled earlier this year.
Natalie L. Decker, ADF legal counsel, said that, “Colorado authorities should hold Planned Parenthood and its employees accountable.”
“Failing to report the sexual abuse of a minor is horrifically tragic and illegal,” said Ms. Decker in a statement. “Planned Parenthood has repeatedly shown brazen and appalling disregard for the law, including laws designed to protect children from this kind of damaging physical and emotional abuse.”
The complaint comes with the Denver-based Planned Parenthood affiliate reeling from an undercover video released Tuesday by the pro-life Center for Medical Progress showing Dr. Savita Ginde discussing how to maximize fetal tissue from abortions.
Update to this story:.
Via Washington Examiner:
Planned Parenthood proclaimed on Thursday that its websites were “not available because of an extremist attack,” but seemed to change its story throughout the day after many people pointed to inconsistencies about the alleged hack.
At around noon, the message on the group’s homepage was changed to read that “our normal site is currently undergoing maintenance.”
At the start of the day, Planned Parenthood claimed it was the victim of a cyberattack. “200,000 people a day are now being blocked from information and care by the attack,” the first iteration on the PlannedParenthood.org site said. But many noted on Twitter that it didn’t look like a regular attack, as the homepage still seemed to be controlled by the group, and included links to parts of the group’s website.
Viewed Thursday morning, the source code for the page indicated it was a page put up in response to a cyberattack, and the site asked users to donate to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the political action fundraising wing of the abortion giant. […]
Later Thursday, the original message was taken down and replaced with a note that made no mention of the hack at all. “Our normal site is currently undergoing maintenance,” it said. “Below you will find information to help you find a Planned Parenthood health center, book an appointment, and get involved with Planned Parenthood.” Instead of redirecting users to another page on the site, the button now provides a phone number for donations.
The latest video exposing the trafficking of aborted babies by Planned Parenthood showed workers casually laughing over and probing at pieces of a “baby” and “another boy.”
The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released a fourth investigative video July 30 showing Planned Parenthood executive, Dr. Savita Ginde, bartering over baby part pricing while admitting that the chances of providing intact organs are better if a woman “delivers before we get to see them.” The video showed Planned Parenthood workers laughing over “five-star” baby parts while trying not to “smush” them.
Ginde is the Vice President and Medical Director of the Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) in Denver. According to CMP, PPRM is “a wealthy, multi-state Planned Parenthood affiliate” that performs more than 10,000 abortions per year.
In the video, actors posing as buyers and representatives from a human biologics company spoke with Ginde about partnering to harvest intact baby organs. During their interaction, Ginde revealed that, “Sometimes, if we get – if someone delivers before we get to see them for a procedure – then we are intact.”
According to CMP, PPRM does not use digoxin or other feticide in second trimester abortions, which means “any intact deliveries before an abortion are potentially born-alive infants under federal law.”
“We’d have to do a little bit of training with the providers or something to make sure that they don’t crush” baby parts, Ginde added.
But more horrific part of the video came towards the end.
In the clinic’s pathological laboratory, where baby parts are sorted after abortion,
Ginde and a medical assistant casually probed at baby parts from 11-12 week-old aborted babies with utensils in a dish.
At one point, a buyer asked, “What was that? A crack, was that the just the little bits of the skull?” to which they casually responded, “Mhmm.”
Ginde, later looking at the dish proclaimed, “It’s a baby” and pointed out the heart.
The medical assistant also chimed in at one point: “My fingers will smush it if I try to get it out” and laughed over the dead baby, deeming the intact parts worthy of “five stars.”
Ginde also recognized a baby brain “blasted out” with water, and noted she sometimes doesn’t use water, so that the parts aren’t as “war-torn.”
The video ended with one Planned Parenthood medical assistant announcing: “Another boy!”
Ginde and the buyers also discussed ways to talk about the trafficking of aborted body parts. “Putting it under ‘research’ gives us a little bit of an overhang over the whole thing,” Ginde said. “If you have someone in a really anti state who’s going to be doing this for you, they’re probably going to get caught.”
Ginde spoke about PPRM’s legal protection in relation to fetal tissue law: “[W]e were like, ‘We don’t want to get called on,’ you know, ‘selling fetal parts across states.’” When the buyers asked, “And you feel confident that they’re building those layers?” Ginde replied, “I’m confident that our Legal will make sure we’re not put in that situation.”
Planned Parenthood received more than $528 million in taxpayer funding during the fiscal year 2013 – 2014. That amounted to more than $1.4 million per day, through government grants, contracts and Medicaid reimbursements.
The video, following on the heels of this week’s video with former “procurement technician” Holly O’Donnell, is part of CMP’s investigative study, “Human Capital.”
Since the release of CMP’s first video, the networks have spent a total of 11 minutes and 13 seconds on the story. For contrast, the news shows covered Cecil the lion more in one day than they did these videos in two weeks.
The liberal media raced to defend Planned Parenthood after CMP released its first video. In the first 9 hours and 30 minutes of news shows broadcast after the story broke, ABC, NBC and CBS, spent only 39 seconds on the first video. It took more than 24 hours before all three covered the story. In the week after the first video, the networks gave a mere 9 minutes and 11 seconds to the story (in contrast, the networks devoted more than three times that to the Susan G. Komen controversy, when the charity temporarily decided to defund the abortion giant).
Similarly, the media stayed silent on the case of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Gosnell’s trial, in which witnesses described baby abortion survivors “swimming” in toilets “to get out,” attracted a scant 12 – 15 reporters. Only after 56 days, multiple letters from members of the House of Representatives and a public outcry, did all three broadcast networks report on Gosnell.
Will the media report on this latest video? Don’t bet on it – not when they can go for the cheap outrage of a lion-shooting.
Planned Parenthood claims on several of its websites that the organization’s web operations have been attacked by “extremists,” but this so-called hacking has all the hallmarks of an orchestrated public relations stunt.
Numerous people on Twitter pointed to evidence suggesting that this so-called hack wasn’t a hack at all:
Their site is so hacked right now that someone has been rearranging CSS fonts and alignment.
12:03 AM – 30 Jul 2015
1:56 AM – 30 Jul 2015
A review of the source code of the main page that appears at PlannedParenthood.org shows that as of 9:30 a.m. today, the page is listed as a “Campaign” and uses a specific template named “Site Down Tempalte” (the typo is theirs). The same page then directs visitors to the Facebook page of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the political fundraising arm of the nation’s largest abortion provider. The web page for PPAF – which can be accessed via both plannedparenthoodaction.org and ppaction.org – repeats the same hacking claims and contains the exact same source code and template used on the PlannedParenthood.org page.
And that’s where Planned Parenthood’s hacking facade begins to crumble. On the splash page declaring that the organization was hacked, visitors are asked “Why do you stand with Planned Parenthood” and invited to share their stories on a separate page housed at ppaction.org.
And wouldn’t you know it, that page functions perfectly. No sign of hacking. No sign of intrusion. Just a perfectly functional and secure web page that exists solely to build Planned Parenthood’s mailing list:
That’s right. Even though ppaction.org redirects to a page saying the site was hacked, the domain still house a perfectly functional URL and page that are being actively used to help build Planned Parenthood’s fundraising list. Coincidentally, this “hacking” happened just days after Planned Parenthood decided to hire a PR firm, SKDKnickerbocker, to help manage its response to the widening baby organ trafficking scandal.
Planned Parenthood says it’s been hacked by “extremists,” but a review of the publicly available evidence suggests that the only things being hacked at Planned Parenthood right now are perfectly healthy and viable unborn babies.
StemExpress, the human tissue processor that has played a key role in recent videos accusing Planned Parenthood of illegally trafficking in fetal organs, has obtained a restraining order against the release of a new video.
The temporary restraining order (TRO), granted by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, bars the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) from releasing footage of three StemExpress executives the group apparently recorded at a lunch last May. What might have been said at this lunch that StemExpress doesn’t want getting out is unknown.
StemExpress allows buyers to purchase various types of human tissue, including fetal livers and umbilical cord blood. In its court complaint, StemExpress accused CMP of invasion of privacy, breach of contract, receipt of stolen property, and unfair competition.
The most central part of StemExpress’s complaint is that CMP violated California law by videotaping three StemExpress employees without their consent. California is a two-party consent state for video recordings, and the company alleges its personnel never provided such consent. The company also accuses CMP of editing previous videos of Planned Parenthood personnel to show them in a negative light.
“As a result of the coverage [of CMP’s videos, StemExpress founder Catherine] Dyer has been harassed and even received death threats,” the complain says. “StemExpress’s business has already been impacted because of false and misleading assertions… CMP has stated its intention to release more ‘undercover’ video footage. Plaintiffs believe that CMP is at least in part to video illegally taken of the Defendants.”
The complaint asked the judge to bar any such video from being released, arguing both that the video itself is illegal and that it will be maliciously edited.
The restraining order will last until an additional hearing in August. In a statement on its website, StemExpress has pledged to “pursue all available legal remedies” against both CMP and its leader David Daleiden.
CMP released a statement of its own condemning the “meritless” lawsuit.
“StemExpress… is attempting to use meritless litigation to cover-up this illegal baby parts trade, suppress free speech, and silence the citizen press reporting on issues of burning concern to the American public,” the statement says. “They are not succeeding – their initial petition was rejected by the court, and their second petition was eviscerated to a narrow and contingent order about an alleged recording pending CMP’s opportunity to respond.”
CMP but an exclamation mark on its defiance by linking to a StemExpress advertisement touting the “profits” clinics could make by selling tissues to the company.
CMP has also kept up its video releases, launching another video on Thursday that allegedly shows a Planned Parenthood official discussing the pricing for individual fetal body parts.
Planned Parenthood lobbied the Department of State many times during Hillary Clinton’s tenure there and received tens of millions of dollars from foreign policy agencies over the past few years, according to a new report.
As secretary of state, Clinton attacked the Mexico City Policy, which bans federal funding of abortion overseas. Her husband revoked the policy during his administration and President Obama lifted the ban upon taking office in 2009. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is tied to the State Department, steered more than $100 million in funding to Planned Parenthood and its international affiliates between 2010 and 2012, according to the Government Accountability Office – about 20 percent of the nearly $500 million pro-abortion organizations received from taxpayers during that time frame.
The taxpayer dollars that Planned Parenthood received dwarfed the $3.4 million that Planned Parenthood spent on lobbying during President Obama’s first term. Government records document more than 30 instances of Planned Parenthood lobbying federal agencies, including the State Department while Clinton was serving there.
Congress is now considering bills to deny taxpayer funds to the nation’s largest abortion provider after undercover video surfaced from the non-profit Center for Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood officials casually discussing the harvesting of fetal organs and the price of body parts. The group released a fourth video Thursday showing executives at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains carving up aborted babies while saying “it’s a baby” and “another boy.” The executive identified as Savita Ginde also tells the undercover videographers, who posed as prospective organ buyers, how Planned Parenthood justifies the sale of those organs.
“In public I think it makes a lot more sense for it to be in the research vein than, I’d say, a business venture,” she said. Planned Parenthood has responded to the scandal of the videos by claiming the fetal body parts are used for research on numerous occasions.
Clinton is the top recipient of campaign donations from workers at the nation’s largest abortion provider, including a $2,700 donation from the CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Vicki Cowart. The nearly $10,000 she received from Planned Parenthood employees and executives is about 20 times more than the rest of the presidential field combined.
Neither the Clinton campaign nor the Clinton Foundation responded to requests for comment.
Pro-life activists, including Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, have criticized Clinton’s support for abortion and Planned Parenthood throughout her political career.
“For more than two decades, her cozy relationship with Planned Parenthood was a source of cash and powerful political support. In light of yet another video brutally detailing the reality of abortion and harvesting of baby organs, it is a massive liability,” she said.
The Clinton campaign has drawn heavily from pro-abortion professionals. One of its top officials in Iowa, the nation’s first primary state, is Lily Adams, daughter of Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards. Jane Emerson, the women’s outreach director of Clinton’s failed 2008 campaign, previously served as CEO of the abortion provider’s South Carolina operations.
Planned Parenthood has also partnered with Clinton’s controversial family foundation, helping with six projects under the Clinton Global Initiative umbrella. The Clinton Foundation did not respond to a request for comment.
Clinton, a recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award, initially defended the billion dollar organization when the Center for Medical Progress released several hours of undercover video showing Planned Parenthood officials casually discussing the harvesting of fetal organs and the price of body parts. Those videos captured numerous officials and medical personnel discussing the various techniques that the abortionist employees to recover intact body parts, which would violate federal law. Three congressional committees are now investigating Planned Parenthood over these violations.
Clinton has since backed away from outright support of the organization. After a third video was released Tuesday showing a former organ retrieval technician discuss how clinics financially benefit from the practice, Clinton told the New Hampshire Union Leader that she found the imagery “disturbing.”
“I have seen pictures from them and obviously find them disturbing,” she said. “This raises not questions about Planned Parenthood so much as it raises questions about the whole process, that is, not just involving Planned Parenthood, but many institutions in our country… If there’s going to be any kind of congressional inquiry, it should look at everything and not just one [organization].”
Dannenfelser said that Clinton’s tepid support for the investigation was smart politics as voters react to the video scandal.
“Hillary Clinton, like many Democrats have painted themselves into a corner by supporting abortion on-demand, up until the moment of birth, paid for by taxpayer dollars. The more Americans learn the truth about this extreme position, the more they will reject it,” she said.
Two Republican senators have come forward to say they will oppose the heavy push by their colleagues to immediately defund Planned Parenthood following the release of several graphic sting videos.
en. Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) have stated their opposition to a bill introduced Wednesdsay that would stop all taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood after an anti-abortion group released secretly recorded footage that appeared to show doctors and executive officials casually discussing the sale of aborted fetal body parts.
“In other states tissue donation programs should be investigated but in Illinois there is no similar program,” Kirk, who faces re-election next year, told the Hill. “I do not plan to cut access to basic health care and contraception for women, the majority of whom have no other resources.”
Collins, who isn’t up for re-election until 2020, told reporters she is still looking at the bill but added she would likely oppose it if it allows for immediate defunding.
Sens. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.) introduced legislation to cut off funding Wednesday and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell addressed the bill in a statement on Thursday morning.
“It’s a simple choice,” McConnell said. “Senators can either vote to protect women’s health, or they can vote to protect subsidies for a political group mired in scandal.”
Paul, who is running for the 2016 GOP nomination for president, suggested Tuesday that the bill would come up for a vote before Congress leaves Washington, D.C., for its August recess. Paul told the Associated Press that the vote would be “a huge victory for conservatives,” even if it ultimately doesn’t pass.
The bill would require a 60-vote majority to advance in the Senate, but Republicans only hold 54 seats and Democrats are generally opposed because they say it would cut off basic women’s health services. But, as the Hill noted, supporters of the bill say these basic services would be maintained since money would be redistributed among other organizations besides Planned Parenthood.
The bill was introduced just one week after the release of the first undercover video that purported to show Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of fetal body parts.
According to the Media Research Center, in just one day, the various broadcast networks’ news programs have already given the death of Cecil the Lion more coverage than two weeks of videos that appear to show Planned Parenthood senior officials ghoulishly trafficking illegally in dead baby parts:
Tuesday, the networks spent 5 minutes, 44 seconds during their evening news shows on Cecil – and that’s not even counting the teasers. Wednesday morning, ABC, NBC and CBS lamented over the lion for 8 minutes, 17 seconds.
But they couldn’t do the same for a story of babies “picked” apart by tweezers.
On July 29, Good Morning America co-anchor Lara Spencer highlighted the “very disturbing story” with “international outrage” before turning to ABC correspondent David Wright for the full story on the lion-shooting by an American, now, according to Wright, “pretty much the most hated man on the internet.”
“There are no words,” Spencer added at the end of the segment. Again, we’re talking about a lion.
For CBS’ This Morning, co-anchor Gayle King commented, “The more you hear about it, the more upsetting it is.” For the shooting of a lion, yes. For the weekly videos exposing the trafficking of baby parts, no. (According to the media, that is.).
In summation, in two weeks the networks have given the Planned Parenthood atrocity 11 minutes of coverage. In a single day, the death of an animal has earned 14 minutes of coverage.
Our media is useless, corrupt, and evil.
The White House expressed its firm belief Thursday that recently-released videos attacking Planned Parenthood are “fraudulent.” Their source: Planned Parenthood.
Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, was speaking with reporters when they raised the matter of the videos released by the Center for Medical Progress which appear to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal organs for profit, a violation of federal law. He claimed the videos were released in a “fraudulent way” with “not a lot of evidence” behind them.
“There is ample reason to think that this is merely the tried and true tactic that we’ve seen from extremists on the right to edit this video and selectively release this edited version of the video that grossly distorts the position of the person that’s actually speaking,” Earnest said.
But Earnest indicated that the reason he thought the videos were fraudulent was because, well, Planned Parenthood had told him as much.
“Planned Parenthood has indicated that’s exactly what occurred here,” he said. “And any review of the policy that PP says they implement indicates the views expressed in the videos, or at least the way they’re pictured on the videos, is entirely inaccurate.”
In other words, Earnest said, because the images on the videos don’t correspond to Planned Parenthood’s official policies, they must be untrue. Earnest even encouraged reporters looking for more information to simply contact Planned Parenthood.
Earnest admitted he did not know if President Obama had actually watched any of the videos.
“I do know he has been following this story in the news,” he said.
Even if Obama had not watched the videos, though, Earnest said he was sure the president would oppose any effort by Republicans to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
“The President certainly will not support another effort by Republican to try to defund an organization that offers important and needed healthcare services to women across the country.”
Watch the full C-SPAN video of Earnest’s press conference here. The exchange begins about 28 minutes in.
This week, the Center for Medical Progress, an anti-abortion group dedicated to unmasking the atrocities committed by taxpayer-funded abortion juggernaut Planned Parenthood, released its latest in a series of undercover videos about the organization.
In this video, Dr. Savita Ginde, vice president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, calmly explains to the undercover reporter that the organs of babies killed in the womb can be sold separately. “I think a per-item thing works a little better,” she tells the faux buyer while standing over a tray of kidney and spinal cord from a recently aborted baby.
The tape sounds like something from the laboratory of Dr. Josef Mengele. But to the left, the murder of the unborn is routine. Former secretary of state and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton defended Planned Parenthood, stating that Planned Parenthood has “provided essential services for women,” calling the videos “an attack against a woman’s right to choose.”
Presumably, she then ran out of other euphemisms for the butchering of the unborn.
Meanwhile, former Arkansas governor and 2016 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee drew heavy media fire slamming President Obama’s decision to guarantee both Iran’s regional power and nuclear weapons within a decade. Huckabee stated, “This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them of the door of the oven.”
Huckabee’s invocation of the Holocaust to describe Obama’s facilitation of a genocidal anti-Semitic regime offended President Obama significantly more than a similarly timed tweet from Ayatollah Khamenei containing imagery of an Obama silhouette with a gun to its head. Obama whined, “The particular comments of Mr. Huckabee are just part of a general pattern we’ve seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.” Clinton said she was “disappointed and I am really offended personally… I find this kind of inflammatory rhetoric totally unacceptable.”
She does not, however, find the prospect of a regionally dominant Iran lording over Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, and building up terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, all while the United States provides a shield for Iran’s nuclear program. The real problem, she and the left believe, lies in likening Obama’s Iran policy to Western malfeasance with regard to Hitler.
The left’s willingness to participate in Planned Parenthood’s genocide against the unborn and the Iranian government’s planned genocide against the Jews speaks to the nature of evil. Americans are fearful of invoking Hitlerian analogies because Hitler is seen, wrongly, as a sort of evil apart from the norms of humankind – he must have known he was evil, an evil of a different sort altogether from daily evil. The same holds true, people typically think, of the Germans complicit in his designs. That’s inaccurate. Hitler undoubtedly saw himself as a good man. More importantly, millions of Germans joined in Hitler’s evil because it was easier to look the other way than to confront the nature of an evil they had allowed to flourish. It is always easier to shrug through life by relying on euphemisms than to stand up to the daily evil we encounter.
For Planned Parenthood, as for leftists and their head-in-the-sand allies throughout America, babies are less than the sum of their parts. For the Obama administration, as for its allies, threats to Jews can be dismissed as irrational byproducts of religious fanaticism, rather than as core goals of an immensely barbaric regime. All of these accessories to evil convince themselves that euphemistic thinking will bring harmony.
Turning a blind eye to evil, however, doesn’t make it disappear. It allows it to grow. And those who allow evil to grow in order to protect their own convenience will be held accountable for the end results of the evil they facilitate.
Until the eve of his presidential campaign, Jeb Bush was director of a philanthropy that gave tens of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood and financed its advocacy of “unrestricted access to abortion” around the world. The charity also approved money to global abortion providers while he sat on its board.
In 2010, Jeb was named one of the founding directors of the Bloomberg Family Foundation, established as a tax-exempt foundation to advance the vision of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He resigned from the board at the end of 2014 to prepare his presidential campaign.
While a Bush spokesman has responded to concerns by saying that Bush would not have voted on every initiative of the foundation, a pro-life leader told LifeSiteNews it “stretches credibility” that Bush was unaware of the foundation’s pro-abortion work, given the centrality of such work to the foundation’s mission, and its scope.
LifeSiteNews reached out to Bush for comment, but did not hear back by press time.
$50 million to ‘reproductive health’ and Planned Parenthood
In March of 2014, the Bloomberg Philanthropies announced a $50 million undertaking to expand “reproductive health,” including lobbying foreign nations to loosen restrictions on abortion.
Bloomberg announced a major partnership with Planned Parenthood-Global to train and equip abortion activists in pro-life countries.
“In 2014, we started supporting local nonprofit organizations in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Uganda, and Nicaragua to advocate for better policies in their countries that will expand access to comprehensive reproductive health services,” the foundation stated. “These organizations will receive technical assistance from Planned Parenthood Federation of America – Global Division to help augment their capacity for effective advocacy.”
Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards greeted the news by saying that “governments need to play a stronger role to ensure that all women have access to the health care they need” – including abortion – “no matter who they are, no matter where they live.”
“We’ll Push for Less Restrictive Abortion Laws”
“I am happy to say our major partner in this project will be Planned Parenthood – Global,” Bloomberg said. “In some countries, our funding will help advocates work towards better sexual health policies for teens and better access to contraceptives. In others, we’ll help push for less restrictive abortion laws and more government funding for high-quality, accessible services.”
Such advocacy was “necessary,” he continued, because “there are plenty of outside interest groups funding the other side of these issues, and we cannot let them go unanswered.”
“This is a fight to women control their own destinies,” Bloomberg said. “And let me tell you: We are in it to help them win it, and we’re gonna stay in it until they do.”
“Together we can succeed,” he concluded. “Thank you for this award. God bless.”
As head of a foundation with $5.4 billion in assets, which awards more than $200 million a year, the three-term mayor of New York has put his money where his mouth is.
Funding Global Abortion Providers
One aspect of his philanthropy’s overall health initiative is to underwrite “reproductive health services in the most remote areas of” Tanzania. Although all grants say they are intended “to reduce maternal deaths,” alongside the CDC and the World Lung Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies has funded two abortion providers.
In 2013, Bloomberg Philanthropies approved a a grant of $1,818,000 for EngenderHealth, and another $250,000 for Marie Stopes International – Tanzania.
“EngenderHealth works to ensure reproductive rights of Tanzanian women and their families by integrating family planning with HIV and comprehensive abortion care services,” the group states on its website.
The group also touts the fact that its expansion to all 26 regions of the country “has also contributed to an increase in uptake of long-acting and reversible methods,” especially Implanon. Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) work both by preventing conception and by “alterations in the endometrium,” which can cause an early abortion by preventing implantation.
Marie Stopes is known as a global abortion provider. MSI states that it only provides “post-abortion care” in Tanzania, where abortion is legal only to save the life of the mother.
But Marie Stopes officials have admitted that the group performs illegal abortions.
“We do illegal abortions all over the world,” Paul Cornellison, the director of Marie Stopes International in South Africa, said during a Marie Stopes International conference in 2007 in London – remarks that were caught on film. “There’s various options, you know, once we open a center there… if we can just get our foot in the door.”
In other nations, Bloomberg has supported advocates of unlimited, universal abortion-on-demand.
“Abortion services should be made free… for all women and girls”
Bloomberg Philanthropies underwrites political advocacy in African and Central American nations whose laws reflect the pro-life outlook of its citizens. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) offers a glimpse into what international abortion lobbyists demand.
Between 2012 and 2014, IPPF wrote a 32-page case study on the Senegalese legal landscape, entitled Over-Protected and Under-Served. While numerous participants told researchers that abortion is “easy” to obtain and “lots of young people are having clandestine abortions,” IPPF focused on promoting “safe” abortion – while making clear that such laws were only one components of its overall mission.
“Advocacy efforts should focus on realizing the ultimate goal of unrestricted access to abortion services, and protection of this right under the law. Abortion services should be made free, safe, accessible and confidential for all women and girls,” the report states.
The abortion industry signaled it rejects incremental aims to achieve the eventual recognition of abortion as a human right. “Anything other than full decriminalization will often lead to abortion remaining inaccessible to all but a very small number of women,” the report says.
The task of pressuring government officials will fall to local activists in the nations targeted by Bloomberg because, in the words of Kelly Henning, the head of the public health program at Bloomberg Philanthropies, “We want this effort to be sustainable.”
If the effort fails, it will not be for lack of resources. In a separate component of its reproductive health plan, Bloomberg partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to enact Family Planning 2020’s global reproductive and population goals.
Is Jeb “Ultimately Accountable”?
The association with Bloomberg conflicts with Jeb’s record as a two-term pro-life governor of Florida who enacted parental consent laws, allowed the regulation of abortion facilities, did not allow state funds to be used for abortion counseling, and created the state’s “Choose Life” license plate.
As one of more than a dozen directors – which include such distinguished names as former Sens. Sam Nunn and David Boren, currently Sen. Cory Booker, and former Bush-43 officials Elaine Chao and Hank Paulson – what responsibility does the former Florida governor bear?
The issue bubbled up in April, giving his yet-unannounced campaign an opportunity to respond.
“Governor Bush was honored to serve on the board of Bloomberg Philanthropies, which does a lot of good work across the world,” Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell told the Tampa Bay Times. “As a board member, Governor Bush did not vote on or approve individual projects or programs.”
Although Bush and Bloomberg “disagree on several policy issues, both share a passion for improving education in America,” she added – a reference to their mutual embrace of the Common Core curriculum and other policies.
A spokeswoman for Bloomberg Philanthropies, Meghan Womack, confirmed to the newspaper that directors do not sign off on every project.
But what to what extent was Bush active in the issue?
According to nonprofit norms, directors carry deep responsibility for the organizations they help lead. “Regardless of what board members are called, they are in essence the trustees in the literal and legal sense of the term,” the National Center for Nonprofit Boards wrote on the responsibilities of board members. “No matter how the organization is structured or the degree of authority delegated to staff, committees, or affiliates, the board and therefore the individual trustees are ultimately accountable.”
Bloomberg Philanthropies noted in a press release, “The directors will serve in an advisory and oversight capacity.” Bush earned $37,100 in compensation for his nearly five years of service.
“Bush’s people are probably right that as a board member he did not vote on every project,” Stephen Phelan, the director of mission communications at Human Life International, told LifeSiteNews. “But Bloomberg has been so open about his foundation’s goals for so long that it really stretches credibility to say that Bush or his people wouldn’t have known that the foundation pushes abortion and other population control efforts.”
Bloomberg clarified his goals while accepting his Planned Parenthood award last year. “You can’t fight every battle,” he said. “The things that are high on my priority list are sensible gun laws…I obviously care about a woman’s right to choose… Nobody’s a bigger supporter of gay rights.” He added that “we need a good immigration bill” that provides amnesty for an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants, “so we can continue our economy.”
Bloomberg has described abortion as a “fundamental human right, elevating it to a make-or-break position. “On this issue, you’re either with us or against us.” He once cited abortion among his reasons for endorsing Barack Obama in 2012.
Despite their differences on abortion policy, the billionaire has had no reservations supporting Jeb Bush’s candidacy – even before there was one.
Last spring, he called Jeb and Hillary Clinton “two quality” candidates and “the only two who know how to make the trains run.”
He also showered compliments upon Bush while introducing him to the New York State Republican Party convention in 2010.
“I couldn’t agree more with this guy,” he said of Jeb. “If there’s anyone I would want on my side waging all those important battles and helping provide the government Americans deserve, it is our next speaker.”
