Commie Lunatic Update: NYC Mayor De Blasio Wants To Close Public Schools For Muslim Holidays

Loony-Left NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio Wants To Close Public Schools For Muslim Holidays – Liberty Unyielding

How many Muslims does it take to close New York City Public Schools? The answer is 69,985 – roughly 21/2500 of the total population of the Big Apple – going by the most recent demographic breakdown (2000 Census).

The scant size of the Muslim community hasn’t deterred the city’s new absurdly liberal mayor, Bill de Blasio, from pushing to close city schools for two Muslim holidays and the Lunar New Year. The Daily News reports (h/t Weasel Zippers) that hizzoner appeared on WNYC’s “Brian Lehrer Show” on Monday, where he announced his plan to publicly observe the Muslim holy days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as well as the Islamic New Year, with school closures. Said the mayor:

It is complicated in terms of logistics and school calendar and budget. But it’s something I want to get done in a reasonable time frame.

Reactions were not solicited from the 99% of students who aren’t Muslim, though it is doubtful many of them will complain about extra days off from school. Their parents – especially those in families where both work and need to make special arrangement for school closures – are likely a different story.

Ditto for de Blasio’s predecessor, the extreme (but not nearly as extreme in hindsight) Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who opposed the change, saying kids should not miss more school.

Defenders of the move will point to the longstanding tradition of New York Public Schools closing for the Jewish “high holidays” of New Year and Yom Kippur, but Jews, who number around 1.1 million, make up 13% of the city’s population.

In the meantime, the city’s Hindu population, though not as “heavily” represented as Muslims, feels slighted that de Blasio hasn’t yet taken a firm position on whether schools should close for Diwali, the festival of lights. Dr. Shashi Shah of the Association of Indians in America is quoted as saying:

We are disappointed. We’ve been trying for a long time… It’s very important for the community.

Observers of Festivus have not weighed in.

Here comes Santa Claus

I am going with my sister and brother-in-law to take the world’s best niece to see Santa, who yes IS White, at Bass Pro shops today, and later we are taking her to a cool park with thousands of Christmas lights, so blogging will be light today.

I might also be forced to check out the gun selection at Bass Pro, and see if they have any good deals on ammo, I mean as long as I am there.

The Left’s war on anything traditionally American

Now it is Valentine’s Day that is “culturally unequal”

Via Fox News:

Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine’s Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy.

Parents of students at Salemwood Elementary School in Malden, Mass, received a letter informing them of the policy – that impacts not just Valentine’s Day – but all holidays.

“We have many different nationalities, cultures and languages spoken,” Principal Carol Keenan told Fox News. “Because of that we don’t honor specific holidays.”

Keenan said she did not want some students feeling left out.

“This is done with all good intentions – to have all students be accepted, to have all students feel like they belong,” she said.

Why do Leftists hate kids?

Why too much tolerance is a bad thing

Via Blazing Cat Fur comes this story, which shows the folly of tolerating intolernace

Moderate Muslims pressure school to cancel Santa’s visit to kindergarten class

“I went to see the headmistress to find out the reasons for this cancellation,” recalls the mother of a young girl who wishes to preserve her anonymity, “and she explained to me that she didn’t want to have her fingers rapped by certain Muslim families.” The headmistress, who has been in charge of the school in Grand-Clos for a few weeks, also invoked this argument to the mayor’s office who called her for explanations.

“She admitted to us that she had called the previous headmistress to learn how to deal with the families who, each year, threaten to boycott the school on the day of Father Christmas’ visit,” recalls Jean-Paul Fonteneau, assistant in charge of children’s affairs and teaching.

How to deal with them? Tell them to boycott! Go on with your traditions, they can accept it or be damned frankly! We have got to stop ceding our liberties, and culture to those that scream “tolerance” as a way to erase Western Culture. See this is not complicated at all. When you move to a new country, you either accept their traditions, and culture, or you do not move there! Muslims who wish to move to Western nations have to learn that they do not get to force their culture upon their new countrymen.

The Left loathes everything that is traditional in America. And this story, about banning Santa, points that out.

A Massachusetts school system banned Santa Claus from visiting schools this year.
He’s too controversial.
FOX Nation reported:

A Massachusetts school system is embroiled in a war on Christmas debate after Santa Claus was initially banned from visiting elementary school children over “religious” concerns.

Since 1960 firefighters in the town of Saugus dressed up like Santa Claus and visited every elementary school handing out coloring books. But on Monday, the school superintendent told firefighters that they would not be welcomed into the classrooms.

The lie the Left tries to sell us is that they are trying not to “offend anyone. That is a lie, they are intent on destroying America. And, to effectively destroy a nation it’s history, heritage, and culture must be systematically eradicated. EVERYTHING that is traditional, therefore is a target. To erase a nation’s, a people’s heritage, and history is key to what the Left intends to do here in America. Our common heritage, and culture bonds us, it makes us special, if that is taken away……… That is why it is so crucial to fight these miscreants at every turn.

Your daily dose of Liberal inclusion

Labor Day parade organizers confirm that no Republicans will be allowed to participate in this year’s Labor Day Parade.

Council president Randy Radtke says they choose not to invite elected officials who have “openly attacked worker’s rights” or did nothing when state public workers lost most of their right to collectively bargain.

FAIL! Liberals finally dig deep enough in the Pit of Eternal Stupidity to reach China!

Good freaking grief! Candy Canes are now weapons? And cause suicides? Doug Powers, say it isn’t so!

You can’t make this stuff up:

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) — They call themselves the “Christmas Sweater Club” because they wear the craziest ones they can find. They also sing Christmas songs at school and try their best to spread Christmas cheer.

Now all 10 of them are in trouble because of what they did at their school.

“They said, ‘maliciously maim students with the intent to injure.’ And I don’t think any of us here intentionally meant to injure anyone, or did,” said Zakk Rhine, a junior at Battlefield High School.

The boys say they were just tossing small two-inch candy canes to fellow students as they entered school. The ones in plastic wrap that are so small they often break apart.

Skylar Torbett, also a junior, said administrators told him, “They said the candy canes are weapons because you can sharpen them with your mouth and stab people with them.” He said neither he nor any of their friend did that.

Next thing they knew, they were all being punished with detention and at least two hours of cleaning. Their disciplinary notices say nothing about malicious wounding but about littering and creating a disturbance.

More to the story? Possibly, but this is consistent with the over-the-top “security” concerns at many schools I’ve seen.

And here’s a school administrator that must be a blast at parties:

Mother Kathleen Flannery said an administrator called her and explained “not everyone wants Christmas cheer. That suicide rates are up over Christmas, and that they should keep their cheer to themselves, perhaps.”

Some people have absolutely NO BUSINESS being anywhere near children! These “educrats” are a prime example. They possess no common sense, none whatsoever!

Smacking down a smarmy secularist

Over at the Reb, Morgan K Freeberg devastates Penelope Trunk for a clueless column she wrote recently. Penelope is OFFENDED because workplaces celebrate Christmas. Oh no, not another pinhead Liberal suffering from the dreaded Offendeditis! Enjoy the mental mismatch

Just another smarmy secularist. Oh, no wait, I forgot: She isn’t saying anything about a desire for more secularism, her argument is grounded in diversity. Okay, very well then. She’s a cowardly fucking secularist.

And she’s being eaten alive in the comments section. Oh, that just warms the cockles of my heart. Really, it does. She deserves it. Just give it a read…

It seems there should be no debate that Christmas does not belong in the workplace. The people who disagree do not understand what it’s like to be a minority, and they fail to accept that Christmas is not a universal holiday.

Ah yes Penelope, we have heard that line of “reasoning” before. Someone MIGHT be offended, so let’s scrap the fun for everyone! Better, I suppose, to offend EVERYONE, than to possibly offend one malcontent right? Good freaking grief! The truth is that Penelope is a classic example of how intolerant, the folks screaming for tolerance really are. Freeberg nails it!

“Should be no debate” — that’s rich. This is where the whole thing falls apart. Diversity has something to do with tolerance, right? Tolerance has something to do with diversity? Diversity-tolerance, tolerance-diversity? Two great tastes that go together like peanut butter & chocolate?

Anybody who thinks so, I’m gong to show them Penelope’s column. It absolutely oozes non-tolerance.

What are my own feelings about it? Ann Landers wedding rule — and longtime readers will know what I mean by that. It’s one of the few pieces of sage advice on which the addled-minded late advice columnist agreed with Yours Truly, or maybe it’s more appropriate to say Yours Truly agrees with the advice of the deceased fuzzy-brained advice columnist: When someone says “If you want me there you’ll have to dis-invite X” there is only one appropriate, one logical answer: “That’s a shame, we’ll miss you.”

You do not negotiate with terrorists, and you do not appease people who make those kinds of ultimatums. Period. It all comes down to this — if your productivity & cheerful demeanor slip a notch or two because you were just reminded someone has a different belief from yours, then you are the problem. Just like the wedding guest who says “I’m not coming if X is coming” is the problem.

Go read the entire piece, it is brilliant, and dead on target!

Ah yes, tis the season for political correctness

The war on Chritstmas, why do we continue to cater to these whiny little assclowns?

(NBC)– A Christmas tree in Ames High School’s cafeteria was taken down just two days after it was donated to the school for its winter dance. School officials say they removed the decoration after several phone calls stating it was “offensive.”

Ames school district officials call it a “winter tree,” but students say the tree was clearly a Christmas tree. Both described it as a pine tree decorated with cardinal and gold lights and ornaments. (sounds like they’re talking about the scene of a crime -ed)

Students say the tree went up on Monday, then suddenly taken down on Wednesday. All school officials would tell Channel 13 today was that they received several calls that the tree was “offensive.”

Officials declined our repeated requests for an on camera interview, but the district’s principal told The Tribune, “I didn’t want this to become a distraction that would take away from the precious time we have to educate students. We decided it would be best to take down the tree.”

“You can’t stop the world from celebrating. You shouldn’t be offended by the tree it was donated and we had to take it down. It was kind of heartbreaking. People liked tree in the lunch room,” says student Jay Hoskins.

“I didn’t find it offensive but I guess I could see why people would but I don’t think people did. I bet someone told their parents and they didn’t think it was a good idea in case someone did get offended,” says student Eric Jones.

I think Eric Jones hit the nail on the head.Pre-emptive PC!
