President Asshat Enjoys Women’s College Basketball Game As U.S. Troops Flee Yemen

Obama Enjoys Ivy League Women’s College Basketball As U.S. Troops Flee Yemen – Daily Caller

President Barack Obama enjoyed NCAA women’s college basketball tournament action on Saturday as approximately U.S. 100 troops evacuated a rapidly deteriorating and chaotic situation near the southern Yemen city of al-Houta.

The soldiers – many of them elite special forces commandos – had been stationed at al-Anad air base in the war-torn Arab country, reports BBC News.

The proximate cause of the hasty Saturday exit was a Friday attack on the city of al-Houta by al-Qaida fighters. A quick counter-attack by the Yemeni army has since reportedly minimized al-Qaida gains.

Friday also saw a suicide bomb attack in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen. At least 137 people died in the bombing, for which Islamic State-associated combatants have claimed credit.

Obama sat in a prime seat at the first-round NCAA tournament game at XFINITY Center in College Park, Md. He was surrounded by a group of fans festooned in orange and black — the colors of fancypants Princeton University.

Obama’s niece, Leslie Robinson, plays on the Princeton women’s team, which is currently undefeated for the season.

Princeton, a #8 seed, beat the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, a #9 seed, by a score of 80-70 on Saturday afternoon.

Fans at the game chanted “four more years,” notes Yahoo! News.

In the fall of 2014, Obama touted Yemen as a War on Terror success story.

Yemen is currently undergoing what amounts to a civil war involving several armed and vigorous elements including al-Qaida and ISIS.

A number of weeks ago, U.S. Marines allegedly destroyed their weapons or simply left them to Yemeni factions before leaving in the midst of an Iran-backed coup.

Gators Prove They Can Still Beat Mediocre Teams With 28-20 Win Over ECU In Otherwise Pointless Bowl Game

Florida Tops ECU In Birmingham Bowl – Bleacher Report

In a game that meant very little in an afterthought of a bowl game, the Florida Gators played with a passion they’d not showed since the Georgia game.

The result was a resounding 28-20 win over East Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl that was fueled by a great defense that has dominated much of the season, even in a frustrating 7-5 campaign.

With the game on the line and the Pirates driving for a chance to tie the game, Vernon Hargreaves III stepped in front of a Shane Carden pass and intercepted a ball in the end zone to preserve the win. Though the Gators’ D was on the field for 101 plays, they kept rising to the occasion.

UF forced three turnovers, returning an interception for a touchdown and turning away the ECU touchdown. They carried a sputtering offense that did very little once Treon Harris got hurt and turned the ball over three times in the second half.

Bring on the Jim McElwain era.

Stupid on a level never thought possible: War crimes in video games should be punished, ICRC says

Good Freaking Grief!

The International Committee of the Red Cross have called for video games to punish crimes committed in battle by adhering to real-life international war conventions.

“The ICRC believes there is a place for international humanitarian law (the law of armed conflict) in video games,” the organization that works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people caught in war zones said in a statement on their website.

“The ICRC is concerned that certain game scenarios could lead to a trivialization of serious violations of the law of armed conflict,” they added. “The fear is that eventually such illegal acts will be perceived as acceptable behavior.”

They are games, not  real life

Bernard Barrett, a spokesman for the organization said they were not trying to censor games or spoil people’s fun, but rather, “make clear that there are rules in battle and that certain acts are illegal.”

Shooting civilians, torture, attacking ambulances and killing prisoners are all aspects in video games that they want to address, he explained.

He added that they were not concerned with fantasy games, but those that mimic situations that might be seen in current armed conflicts, known as “first person shooters” although he declined to name specific titles.

Again, they are games, they are not real.

President Asshat Shutting Down Navy/Air Force Game In Pathetic Attempt To Make GOP Look Bad

Service Academy Football Games Cancelled For The ‘Optics’ – Breitbart

In response to During Sequester, Park Ranger Claimed Supervisors Wanted People to ‘Feel the Pain’:

Ace has unleashed his flaming skull for this NRO story, calling it “government by spite.”

The Naval Academy Athletics Director said that he was told that reason the cost-free Navy/Air Force game had to be cancelled was for “the optics”.

Asked why the Department of Defense was suspending intercollegiate athletic contests if government funds are not required, Gladchuk said he was told it was about “optics.”

“It’s a perception thing. Apparently it doesn’t resonate with all the other government agencies that have been shut down,” Gladchuk said.

This is how the Regime rolls, and it’s really quite vexing because this nonsense didn’t help Obama win the Sequester argument earlier this year. They overplayed their hand, and Obama’s approval rating actually tanked as a result.

To me, it just looks spiteful.

Obama Backs Down, Allows Service Academy Games To Be Played… At Least For Now – Associated Press

U.S. military academy football teams will play this weekend, despite the government shutdown.

A senior defense official said Wednesday the decision affects this weekend’s games only, and future games will be evaluated as events unfold.

The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity.

Army’s game at Boston College, and Air Force’s game at Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday were in jeopardy after the Defense Department temporarily suspended sports competition at the service academies as a result of the budget impasse in Congress.

The teams will be allowed to play because the games are paid for with non-appropriated funds, and have been long planned. Non-appropriated funds generally come from outside sources and are not approved through Congress.

A phone message left with Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk was not immediately returned, along with email messages left with spokesmen for Army and Air Force.

Earlier in the day, Gladchuk said he was optimistic the Pentagon would allow the games to be played.

He said the athletic department has provided information to Pentagon officials to assure them that no government funds will be spent on any aspect of the game. Gladchuk said a Navy home game brings in about $4 million from tickets, sponsorship, television and radio rights fees and other revenues such as parking and concessions. The game essentially pays for itself, he said.

Football revenue also funds Navy’s 32 other sports teams.

“It would be devastating to our budget,” Gladchuk said about having a home game canceled.

The coaches and players involved were still preparing for the games to be played.

“I wouldn’t say they’re oblivious, but they are practicing and trying to maintain that laser focus,” Gladchuk said.

Boston College coach Steve Addazio said: “In my mind, we are playing on Saturday. It’s just how I feel.”
