Donald Trump To Skip GOP Debate – Wall Street Journal

.
…………….

.
Donald Trump’s presidential campaign said the GOP front-runner plans to skip the Fox News debate Thursday in Des Moines, the final one before the Iowa caucuses, in the latest turn in its long-running dispute with the TV network.

Mr. Trump told reporters Tuesday he would likely skip the televised event. Shortly afterward, his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said the candidate had decided to bypass the debate.

“He is definitely not participating in the Fox News debate on Thursday,” Mr. Lewandowski said.

The announcement came amid a long-running public spat between Mr. Trump and the network. The billionaire businessman had threatened to boycott the debate if Fox’s Megyn Kelly served as a moderator, calling her “biased.”

A Fox News spokesman later Tuesday criticized Mr. Trump’s decision not to participate in the debate, calling it “near unprecedented.”

“We’re not sure how Iowans are going to feel about him walking away from them at the last minute, but it should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage,” the spokesman said.

“Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards.” The spokesman added that Mr. Trump is still welcome to attend Thursday’s debate and would be “treated fairly,” but added: “He can’t dictate the moderators or the questions.”

Aside from Mr. Trump, seven other Republican candidates are slated to appear on the prime-time stage.

Earlier in the day, Fox News issued a tongue-in-cheek news release, suggesting that a presidential candidate should be prepared to deal with those he thinks will treat him unfairly.

“We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president – a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings,” a Fox News spokesman said.

At a news conference here, Mr. Trump took credit for the high ratings that Republican presidential debates have drawn and presumed advertising revenue Fox News has earned from the events. He also said he had called on Fox News to donate a portion of the revenue to wounded warriors and suggested that while the rest of the GOP field appeared on stage Thursday, he would use the time to raise money for wounded veterans himself.

“Why should I make Fox rich?” he said. “Let me make the wounded warriors rich. Let me make the veterans rich.”

“Let’s see how they do with the ratings… We’ll have our own event,” he said.

Fox News Stomps Competition Into The Dirt… Again

Boom: Megyn Kelly And Fox News Have Just Buried Their Competition In The Trash Heap – Western Journalism

.

.
It was a little more than a year ago – in October 2013 – when Fox News boss Roger Ailes made what many at the time thought was a bold and risky programming move.

Ailes changed FNC’s primetime lineup, a schedule of shows that had been mostly unchanged for the prior 11 years. And quite an 11-year run it had been because in that time, Fox News remained a solid No. 1 in the cable news category in both total viewers and the core adult 25-54 demo.

The biggest change the channel made some thirteen months ago was the primetime addition of a brand new program in the 9pm hour. Where “Hannity” once held forth, Megyn Kelly brought in “The Kelly File,” whose soaring success since its launch has been simply stellar.

Megyn Kelly had risen to fame as an anchor on FNC’s dayside news coverage. A lawyer with a quick wit, a sharp mind, a tenacious interviewing style, and an unforgiving refusal to accept bloviating – plus the ability to hold her own with the likes of Bill O’Reilly – Kelly soon caught on and climbed high.

Now, her climb has reached a notable peak. For the first time ever, reports ratings tracker mediabistro.com, “The Kelly File” was the No. 1 show on cable news in the coveted 25-54 demo.

Megyn Kelly is becoming what many in the biz call a “category killer.”

The last time a host other than Bill O’Reilly has won the demo was in Oct. 2012, when the 10pmET hour, which included presidential debates, was No. 1. Fox News has now been the No. 1 cable news channel for 155 consecutive months in total viewers.

As for the standout performance of the Fox News Channel overall, FNC in the month of November was the second most-watched cable channel, topped only by ESPN.

FNC delivered its highest rated month since May 2013 in total viewers and April 2013 in the A25-54 demo, when the Boston Marathon bombing occurred.

Below is a chart that graphically illustrates the outstanding ranking of Fox News in all of cable…and the absolute dominance of the channel in the cable news category.

You”ll note that CNN and MSNBC are nowhere to be seen seen, as MSNBC placed 26th in primetime and 27th in total day; CNN placed 25th in primetime and 20th in total day.

Left-Wing Media Matters for America declares victory over Fox News

Stacy McCain points out some facts about Fox News after Media Matters for Marxists Against America declares that they have discredited Fox

This is analogous to the problem of conservatives making Fox News a singular focus of efforts to combat liberal media bias. As early as February 2009, I described what I called “The Fox Trap”:

Media-wise, the GOP made the mistake of putting all its eggs in one basket. I enjoy Fox News, but it has created a syndrome where Republicans watch Fox all the time and delude themselves into thinking, “Hey, our message is getting out! We’re winning!” Fact: The evening news broadcasts of ABC, NBC and CBS reach a combined audience of about 22 million; the top rated Fox News show, “The O’Reilly Factor,” reaches 4 million viewers. So if the three broadcast networks are viciously biased against Republicans – and they are – then that anti-GOP message is reaching more than 5 times as many TV viewers as Fox.

Last week, I described the problem again with updated numbers:

[D]uring the Bush presidency, the Left created institutions (notably Media Matters) based on the dubious theory that Fox News and other conservative media had too much influence.
That theory cannot be reconciled with the facts:

NBC Nightly News  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.3 million
ABC World News . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8.2 million
CBS Evening News . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.3 million
Fox News (The O’Reilly Factor) . . . . . . . . . . . 3.2 million
MSNBC (Hardball with Chris Matthews) . . . . . 940,000
CNN (Anderson Cooper 360) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 605,000

Fox News is, as it proudly boasts, Number One in Cable News, accounting for 68% of the cable news audience. Add in the major network evening news broadcasts, however, and the total news audience is closer to 30 million, of which Fox’s share is about 11%.
In other words, 89% of news on TV is reliably liberal in its perspective, and the Left’s obsession with Fox News is absurd. Why should Media Matters have an annual budget of $10 million to counteract the influence of a network that gets 11% of the news audience?

We could discuss at length the ramifications of this data, but the point to be made immediately is that Fox News has functioned like a channelizing terrain feature in the informational battlefield. For the defenders of liberal media hegemony, all they had to do was to isolate Fox — identify it as a hostile force in the eyes of other media — and then to target both the network’s messages and its messengers.

Some very good points raised there. Fox has not influenced the rest of the media to change their game. Instead they have just been pigeon-holed as “Right Wing” by the Left, and to many, many Americans, who get their news from NBC, CBS, and ABC, well, Fox has a, shall we say tarnished reputation. In short, we cannot just rely on Fox News folks. Or on talk radio, which also has been smeared mightily by the Left, or on blogs, which have also been smeared and marginalized by “real journalists”. Stacy McCain sums it up very well

Andrew Breitbart understood this tactic, and fought very hard to escape the “Fox Trap,” which is why he delivered one of his biggest scoops on the WeinerGate scandal — the Meagan Broussard story, which confirmed that Weiner was “sexting” with multiple women — directly to ABC News as an exclusive. If conservative messages and messengers can be limited to one media channel, and that channel reaches no more than a minor fraction of the total news audience, liberals win. It’s really that simple

Bingo!

Neil Cavuto Verbally Bitchslaps Obama Over His Latest, Asinine Attack Against Fox News (Video)

Neil Cavuto Crushes Obama Over Latest Attack Against FOX News – TPNN

.

Neil Cavuto responded today, in a powerful opening statement, to Obama’s latest attack against the First Amendment and freedom of the press. Obama, fresh from using the NSA to spy on the Associated Press and James Rosen, a FOX News reporter, is back to attacking one of his favorite targets, FOX News, the only major network who doesn’t completely work for the Obama regime. Watch below (followed by text) to see Cavuto’s response:

.

.
NEIL CAVUTO: This just in. This has just got to stop:

OBAMA: If you’ve talked to somebody who said, ‘Well, I don’t know. I was watching FOX News and they said this is horrible…”

NEIL CAVUTO: Mr. President, we at FOX News are not the problem. I hate to break it to you, sir. you are. Your words are, your promises are. We didn’t sell this healthcare law, sir. You did. Remember this?

OBAMA: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period.

NEIL CAVUTO: Not so. Mr. President, tell that to tens of thousands of retirees at IBM and Time Warner and dozens of others, who have been dumped from their coverage and told to find their own coverage. Now, FOX News didn’t break that news to them, Mr. President, their companies did.

FOX News didn’t push more of those firms to hire part-time workers, your healthcare law did.

FOX News didn’t incentivize fast-food restaurants to scale back their benefits, your healthcare law did.

FOX News didn’t make doctors want to opt out, your health care did.

FOX News didn’t make insurance premiums skyrocket, your health care law did that.

Just like FOX News did not grant hundreds of exemptions to companies that needed them, you did.

And FOX News didn’t delay one key provision after another, including (just today) online enrollment for those small business exchanges. You did that, sir.

Just like it wasn’t FOX News that said, “We had to pass this to see what was in this.” You did. Or, was that Nancy Pelosi? Sometimes, I’m confused. but of this I am not.

FOX News didn’t redo basic math. sir, you did.

FOX News didn’t say you can cover 30 million more Americans and not see a hit in premiums, you did.

FOX News didn’t say you could throw in those with pre-existing conditions and not have to pay for it, you did.

FOX News didn’t all but say you can get something for nothing. You did.

FOX News didn’t come back years later and say, “Oh yeah, we did raise some taxes.” You did, just the other night.

Here’s where you are right about FOX News, however, Mr. President. We were on this very early. We can do math, and did. You cannot and did not. We said it and proved it. You didn’t and we’re suffering for it.

Take it from the numbers guy here at FOX. Numbers don’t lie. The number of Americans working part-time and nervous, the number of retirees days away from being dumped on exchanges, and anxious. The number of company bosses with news to pass along on those exchanges, still clueless. The number of doctors who want out. The number of congressmen opting out.

No, Mr. President, none of those numbers lie, but with all due respect, sir, I can only conclude, you do.

I know, I know, I know, you hate us at FOX, but please, please, look in a mirror and fast. You think we’re the skunk at your picnic, but that does not mean we are the ones that stink, because that smell account isn’t coming from the folks reporting on your law. Mr. President, that smell is your law.

Obama DOJ Spied On James Rosen Of Fox News

Washington Post Reports Obama DOJ Also Spied On James Rosen Of Fox News – Newsbusters

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn’t “Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News.” Fox wasn’t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.

Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist – and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

When the Justice Department began investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009, investigators did more than obtain telephone records of a working journalist suspected of receiving the secret material.

They used security badge access records to track the reporter’s comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporter’s personal e-mails.

The case of Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, the government adviser, and James Rosen, the chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, bears striking similarities to a sweeping leaks investigation disclosed last week in which federal investigators obtained records over two months of more than 20 telephone lines assigned to the Associated Press.

The Kim case began in June 2009, when Rosen reported for Fox online that U.S. intelligence officials were warning that North Korea was likely to respond to United Nations sanctions with more nuclear tests. The CIA had learned the information, Rosen wrote, from sources inside North Korea.

The story was published the same day that a top-secret report was made available within a small group inside the intelligence community, including Kim, who at the time was a State Department arms expert with security clearance. “FBI investigators used the security-badge data, phone records and e-mail exchanges to build a case that Kim shared the report with Rosen soon after receiving it, court records show.”

In the documents, FBI agent Reginald Reyes described in detail how Kim and Rosen moved in and out of the State Department headquarters at 2201 C St. NW a few hours before the story was published on June 11, 2009.

“Mr. Kim departed DoS at or around 12:02 p.m. followed shortly thereafter by the reporter at or around 12:03 p.m.,” Reyes wrote. Next, the agent said, “Mr. Kim returned to DoS at or around 12:26 p.m. followed shortly thereafter by the reporter at or around 12:30 p.m.”

The activity, Reyes wrote in an affidavit, suggested a “face-to-face” meeting between the two men. “Within a few hours after those nearly simultaneous exits and entries at DoS, the June 2009 article was published on the Internet,” he wrote.

The court documents don’t name Rosen, but his identity was confirmed by several officials, and he is the author of the article at the center of the investigation. Rosen and a spokeswoman for Fox News did not return phone and e-mail messages seeking comment.

The Post suggested that unlike the AP, Fox News was the likely target of the investigation:

Reyes wrote that there was evidence Rosen had broken the law, “at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator.” That fact distinguishes his case from the probe of the AP, in which the news organization is not the likely target…

Privacy protections limit searching or seizing a reporter’s work, but not when there is evidence that the journalist broke the law against unauthorized leaks. A federal judge signed off on the search warrant – agreeing that there was probable cause that Rosen was a co-conspirator.

[U.S. Attorney Ronald] Machen’s office said in a statement that it is limited in commenting on an open case, but that the government “exhausted all reasonable non-media alternatives for collecting the evidence” before seeking a search warrant.

However, it remains an open question whether it’s ever illegal, given the First Amendment’s protection of press freedom, for a reporter to solicit information. No reporter, including Rosen, has been prosecuted for doing so.

The question now is whether other journalists will see Obama’s Justice Department spying on Fox News as objectionable as spying on the Associated Press.

Perhaps the bland headlines meant to project Rosen as just another journalist on Obama’s enemies list. The front-page headline was “Records offer rare glimpse at leak probe: Justice sought reporter’s personal e-mails after N. Korea story in 2009.” Inside the paper, the headline was simply “Badge data used to track reporter at State, records say.”

Dear Liberals, even Bob Beckel gets it

Gets what you wonder? This!

Via Politico:

Fox News analyst Bob Beckel defended his comments about temporarily prohibiting Muslim students from entering the country Tuesday saying it wasn’t a position he takes lightly.

“My point is not to suggest that there’s a cell of 70,000 people here. What I’m suggesting is that those students coming from those countries where [they] harbor resentment against the United States, if we could save one Boston marathon event or one child’s life by saying we’re going to take a two-year hiatus from countries that we know do not like us and know from whence terrorism is coming,” Beckel told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on her show.

On Monday evening’s edition of “The Five,” which Beckel co-hosts, he suggested “cutting off” Muslim students from coming into this country for some time, in response to the Boston bombing.

“I think we really have to consider, that given the fact so many people hate us, we’re going to have to cut off Muslim students from coming to this country for some period of time so that we can at least absorb what we got, look at what we’ve got and decide whether some of the people here should be sent back home or sent to prison,” Beckel said Monday.

We area  sovereign nation, and therefore possess every right to determine who we give visas to.

Roger Ailes: Obama Is Lazy, Biden Dumb As an Ashtray

Well, I do not know about that Biden crack I think ash trays might have higher IQ’s

Fox News chief Roger Ailes says President Barack Obama is “lazy’’ and claims the commander-in-chief “never worked a day in his life,’’ a controversial new book claims.

Ailes also takes shots at Vice President Joe Biden, saying, “he’s as dumb as an ashtray,” and at Newt Gingrich, who he says is a “sore loser.”

“Obama’s the one who never worked a day in his life. He never earned a penny that wasn’t public money,’’ Ailes said, according to Chafets.

“How many fundraisers does he attend every week? How often does he play basketball and golf? I wish I had that kind of time. … He’s lazy, but the media won’t report that.”

Ouch! What he says is true though. What jobs has Obama held? And no, community organizing agitating does not count

Before you go vote on Tuesday, remember Benghazi

Via Weasel Zippers, more evidence that Obama let Americans out to dry die in Benghazi

Via Fox News:

Sources who have debriefed the team that was at the CIA annex the night of the attack in Benghazi say that the CIA operators from the Global Response Staff, or GRS, were equipped with Mark 48 machine guns and had two types of laser capability. Each weapon had both a “passive” as well as a “visible” laser that could be used against the Libyan attackers.

The presence of laser capability on the roof of the CIA annex confirms what Fox News sources that night in Benghazi originally said, which is that they had laser capability and for 5 hours and 15 minutes were wondering where the usual overhead air support was, especially since, according to this source, they radioed from the annex beginning as early as midnight asking for it.

The presence of lasers raises more questions about why air support was not sent to Benghazi even protectively once it became clear that the fighting had followed the CIA rescue team back to the annex.

U.S. military officials say they “thought the fighting was over” after the team left the consulate and that there was a lull in the fighting.

Fox News has learned the guns were fitted with PEQ-15 lasers. The “passive” laser is not visible to the naked eye but can help team members identify hostile forces when the shooter is wearing NODS, or Night Observation Device attached to their helmet. The visible laser system places a red dot on the attacker and warns the attacker not to shoot, encouraging them to flee the scene.

The Blaze: CIA OPERATORS TOLD TO ‘STAND DOWN’ DURING ATTACK & 3 URGENT REQUESTS FOR MILITARY BACK-UP WERE DENIED

According to a report from Jennifer Griffin of Fox News, sources have confirmed that three separate calls for military assistance were denied during the Benghazi attack

Explosive new allegations surrounding the Benghazi attack emerged this morning, with FOX News’ Jennifer Griffin reporting that sources have confirmed that three urgent requests for military assistance sent from the CIA annex were all denied. Additionally, CIA operators were told to “stand down” rather than respond when shots were heard around 9:40 p.m. on September 11.

Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, the two former Navy SEALS who were among the four Americans inevitably killed, subsequently disobeyed orderes and decided to head to the main consulate building to help U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

At the time of the attack, Doherty and Woods were at a secure CIA annex only one mile away from the chaos unfolding at the compound. When they heard shots fired, they let the chain of command know what was going on, but were told to “stand down,” according to FOX’s sources. This same mandate was given to the men when they called a second time an hour later to report the violence on the ground.

After being told twice not to respond, Woods, Doherty and two others ignored orders and made their way to the main compound, where the violence was still intense. The building was on fire and shots were exchanged. FOX News has more:

The quick reaction force from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the Consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Specter gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

The Blaze will have some updates I am sure, and Fox News has more including this video via Gateway Pundit

UPDATE! Weasel Zippers has news that  Hilary Clinton ordered additional security for Benghazi, and that was denied by the president.

Via Fox Nation:

Last night, it was revealed that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had ordered more security at the U.S. mission in Benghazi before it was attacked where four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens were murdered by Al-Qaeda but President Obama denied the request.

The news broke on TheBlazeTV’s “Wilkow!” hosted by Andrew Wilkow, by best-selling author, Ed Klein who said the legal counsel to Clinton had informed him of this information.

Klein also said that those same sources said that former President Bill Clinton has been “urging” his wife [Hillary] to release official State Department documents that prove she called for additional security at the compound in Libya, which would almost certainly result in President Obama losing the election.

I guess she does have bigger balls than Obama.

MSNBS: The sky is yellow! Water is dry! and Al Sharpton is not a race baiter who jumped to conclusions in the Zimmerman/Martin shooting to further his ow career and line his pockets!

Bottom of the credibility barrel reached! Warning, it is strongly suggested that you put these on BEFORE reading what MSNBS had to say

Via Politico:

MSNBC is pushing back against Fox News host Sean Hannity, who last night accused MSNBC host the Rev. Al Sharpton of “rushing to judgment” in the case of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

“MSNBC would like to set the record straight following some misinformation presented by Fox News during the interview with George Zimmerman last night,” MSNBC wrote in a statement sent to POLITICO. “Reverend Al Sharpton never ‘rushed to judgment,’ as stated by Mr. Hannity. Reverend Sharpton repeatedly called for calm and for a more thorough investigation in the wake of the tragic events. Ultimately, the authorities agreed an arrest was warranted.”
