What an asshole I am! An apology to a blogging friend

Sometimes we make mistakes, yes, even me, and recently, I screwed the pooch by NOT congratulating Stacy McCain for getting a new, and well deserved gig at Viral Read.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Veteran journalist Robert Stacy McCain will be joining the staff of ViralRead.com as editor in chief, the New Media site’s publisher announced Wednesday. “While we’re quietly building out ViralRead for its official launch, I’m sure we just sent a loud signal,” said Ali A. Akbar, president of Viral Read’s parent company, Pundit Syndication LLC. “Robert Stacy McCain’s experience is going to firm our foundation as we creep closer to our official launch.”
Akbar, an influential young digital strategist and entrepreneur, emphasized the value of McCain’s 27 years of experience in both traditional and online media to ViralRead, a site that made its online debut last year, though will it officially launch at the beginning of spring.
“What first attracted us in acquiring Stacy’s online property was his unique ability to monetize his blog,” said Akbar, who will host a ViralRead party Saturday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). “This is only the beginning.” . . .

Fact is, when I heard, I meant  post something, then got caught up in something else, so sorry there Stacy, I should have made sure I posted that. And, congrats!

Remember the Name Bruce Carroll, South Carolina

Smitty opines on the question of supporting a Gay Republican

Props to Bruce Carroll:

I felt it best to resign from GOProud in advance of the CPAC conference this week so that my position in GOProud would not be a distraction from my serious deliberations regarding my potential future plans in South Carolina public service.

I wish only the best to my colleagues and fellow supporters of GOProud moving forward and I’ll always do what I can to be helpful from the crowd.

Over the next few weeks, I will be studying the resources, time and effort it would take to do my part in holding Lindsey Graham accountable for his voting record and his attitude toward the voters in South Carolina.

Feel free to disagree with me on the point, but I’m not holding anything against Carroll, sexual or otherwise. Hopefully we’ve the liberty to support great candidates without that translating into 100% endorsement of all that candidate’s personal choices, fashion or otherwise.

Some might disagree with Smitty. I will not be counted among them. I could not care less about Carroll’s love life. I care about his Conservative creds, period.

I have an interesting thought. Will Karl Rove support this “more diverse candidate” over the establishment guy, Lindsey Graham?

CPAC just lost all credibility with me

So, Pam Gellar cannot speak? But the world’s biggest publicity whore is welcomed? Screw CPAC!

The conservatives I follow on Twitter, none more so than the boss emeritus, are tearing him and CPAC apart for this. (See Twitchy for a round-up.) But there’s an obvious explanation for why he’s invited, isn’t there?

The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced Donald Trump will address CPAC 2013, the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference. America’s largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists to be held Thursday, March 14 – Saturday, March 16, 2013.

“Donald Trump is an American patriot and success story with a massive following among small government conservatives,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “I look forward to welcoming him back to the CPAC stage next week. Mr. Trump’s previous CPAC appearance was hugely popular among our attendees and we expect it will be even more popular this year.”

Philip Klein, who’s been begging CPAC to invite conservative health-care experts in order to jump start a serious GOP alternative to ObamaCare, wonders why they’ve resorted to “a clown show” instead:

It’s one thing to argue that there’s a strict philosophical litmus test for being invited to CPAC. Whatever one says, at least that would be a consistent position. But it’s hard to square that with the latest news that Donald Trump has been invited to speak at the gathering. For the last several years he’s emerged as one of the most prominent conspiracy theorists questioning the legitimacy of President Obama’s birth certificate and for decades, has been more concerned with creating publicity for himself and his various ventures than advancing any kind of conservative values…

What accounts for his conservative “all-star” status? How would one account for his following among small government conservatives? Is it his history of eminent domain abuse? Is it his past support for a Canadian-style socialized health care system?

Trump is as phony as they come. He will say anything to stay in the spotlight, and frankly, I find it sickening that anyone on our side would buy the BS this snake oil peddling tool is selling.

Look what just crawled out of the Sewer that is Leftism: Kimberlin-Rauhauser Axis Targets Romney Campaign Staffer Bill Murphy

So reports Stacy McCain

Brett Kimberlin’s non-profit 501(c)4 Velvet Revolution is part of an apparent effort to destroy Mitt Romney’s online rapid-response team by targeting Bill Murphy, a young Internet operative who has helped improve the campaign’s social-media presence.

In an item posted Saturday on the Democratic Underground site, Velvet Revolution promoted an article accusing Murphy of “fraud” for his role earlier this year in the National Bloggers Club.

Formed in February at the annual “Blog Bash” during the Conservative Political Action Conference, the club honored Andrew Breitbart with one of its first awards and has helped defend bloggers targeted by Kimberlin’s lawsuits and other harassment. During last week’s Republican National Convention, the club co-sponsored a “Blog Bash” that featured former RNC chairman Haley Barbour and a guest list that included Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), Michael Barone of the Washington Examiner, Amy Kremer of Tea Party Express, author Katie Pavlich and CNN contributor Dana Loesch.

Kimberlin, who spent 17 years in federal prison for his role in a weeklong bombing spree that terrorized an Indiapolis suburb, has gained renewed notoriety for his “lawfare” harassment of conservative bloggers. In May, Kimberlin and his associate Neal Rauhauser were among those identified by Patrick “Patterico” Frey as suspected of being involved in a “SWATting” hoax that sent police to Frey’s residence.

Lots more background on the Kimberlim/Rauhauser alliance and Stacy’s personal run-in with them at the link. Welcome to the war folks. Conservatives prefer to debate, and let things like facts, and results speak loudest. The Left, no so much, mainly because facts are not on the Lefts side. So, miscreants like Kimberlin, and Rauhauser turn to junk “lawfare” suits, harassment, threats, and on-line stalking to attempt to intimidate Conservatives into silence. Well, that will no longer work, we will NOT be silenced or intimidated. We will fight, and we will win, so, Kimberlin, Rauhauser and the rest might as well get used to this fact!

In another post McCain points out that Andrew Breitbart saw this coming, and vowed to fight

Back in February at CPAC, Andrew Breitbart gave a speech in which he called for unifying conservatives to defeat the Left:

Anyone that’s willing to stand next to me to fight the progressive left, I will be in that bunker, and if you’re not in that bunker ’cause you’re not satisfied with this candidate, more than shame on you — you’re on the other side!

Breitbart also forecast the tactics the media would use:

We’re watching you to play the race card MSNBC. We saw how you cynically placed the Reverend Sharpton in a position of absurdist power. This is Dadaism, I learned that in college, that they would allow for this guy to have a show. This is Dadaism. It’s freaky. It’s Andy Kaufman. It doesn’t make sense unless you understand what they’re doing.
This is going to be the dog whistle election cycle. They tested them in 2011, so he and his pal Toure and that punk Tim Jacob Wise and Ed and Maddow can sit there and call everyone who’s Caucasian racist. “I heard it. He used ‘is’ instead of ‘are.’ He’s a racist. That’s a dog whistle.’”
Ignore it when Congressman [Carson] does it against Allen West. No more. We’re going to go after you. I bought a dog whistle. I bought a dog whistle factory, and I’m giving you dog whistles. And we’re going to listen to every word that comes out of your mouth, and we’re going to hold you to the same standard that you hold us which is an impossible one, and you’re going to have a hell of a time in 2012 because America’s finally woken to your Saul Alinsky bullshit tactics, and we’re coming to get you.

Amen! Although, I must admit many other saw this coming a long time ago. And many of us saw the need to put our boots on and go to battle. Big blogs, small blogs, blogs in between, all of us are in a fight now. A fight we do not want, a fight we did not start, but by God a fight we damn well better intend to win! So, if you are a Conservative blogger, or active on Facebook, or Twitter, this is your fight! Now, let us resolve to win, and well shall win. No retreat, no surrender, nothing but absolute victory shall be enough!!

RIP Andrew Breitbart

Ed already posted a touching tribute to one of our greatest Conservative Warriors, Andrew Breitbart, but I have just a couple of thoughts to add.

First, and most importantly, I am deeply saddened for his wife and children, and I pray that God gives them peace and strength in this time of immeasurable sorrow.

Secondly, Andrew was one of those Conservative champions I most wanted to meet, and chat with. Anyone who does what Ed and I do here owes Andrew Breitbart many thanks, and I regret that I will never have a chance to express my gratitude to Andrew. I can’t help but feeling that I am worse for never getting an opportunity to meet Andrew. Even though we never met, I felt a kinship with people like Andrew Breitbart.

Finally, I think the best possible memorial we can ever give to Andrew Breitbart is to fight as hard, and tirelessly as he did for this nation. May God bless and keep you Andrew! We here at The Daley Gator will do our best to carry on the fight you waged so valiantly.

Why can’t Newt just go away?

Newt, has lots of really good ideological ideas, no doubt, but character? He has none!

Look, I don’t want to bang on Newt any more than I did yesterday, but since he’s apparently on a “Let’s Rehab Newt’s Dreadful PR” tour, let’s specifically identify the exact problem he needs to rehab in order for him to win the White House, so that we can see the rehab in its proper context.

In a nutshell, Newt ditched his first wife, Jackie, while she was suffering from cancer, to marry the woman he happened to be screwing at the time, Marianne. Then Newt ditched his second wife, Marianne, eight months after learning she had MS and several years after he began screwing his now third wife, Callista, who is 23 years younger than him.

In other words, Newt, you are a scumbag! Now go away please. Sorry Newt but character MOST CERTAINLY MATTERS!

Jim DeMint takes his ball, goes home

Senator, I am, for one, deeply disappointed in your actions.

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint will skip this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference, making him the most prominent conservative figure yet to express objections to what critics see as a pro-gay, libertarian tilt to the 38-year-old event.

“With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Sen. DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year,” DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton said in an e-mail.

Senator, your absence makes you look childish, and petty, and, frankly, afraid to stand and debate those whom you are in disagreement with. This should be a time when the GOP welcomes anyone who stands with us on the Founding Principles. If the GOProud does not stand for those, then by all means go to CPAC and make your case. That would be a far better course of action than joining this childish boycott!

GOProud Chairman gets better of MSNBC Host | The Right Scoop

Via The Right Scoop Hilarious! The host from MSNBS actually does a lot to defeat his own argument here. Like saying that republicans HATE Gays becaause two Republican groups will boycott CPAC because GOProud will be there. OK yet, the fact that GOProud was invited, and the fact that most Conservatives have no problem with that belies his absurd point. My favorite part comes when Cenk scoffs that GOProud was only invited the last two years. Barron points out that the group has only existed for two years. Open mouth insert foot Cenk

Oh no! Not another boycott from the self-appointed morality wing of the GOP!

A couple of groups are vowing to boycott CPAC this year because the group GOPProud, a Gay Republican group was invited. Hmmm, why would they take a “I will take my ball and go home” attitude? Why not act like adults, and go, have some discourse, find out where they agree/disagree with GOPProud? Perhaps there is more in common between these groups than not?

Frankly, if I attend CPAC, which I would like to, or not depends on work, not on who is attending. Frankly, I have problems with some of the Nanny Statism I hear from the groups that have their panties in a bunch. So what? Does not mean I would not go just because they were going to be there. Likewise with GOPProud. I might not like everything that group stands for either. Again SO WHAT?

Frankly, the Concerned Women for America and the Family Research Council ought to be bigger than they are being about this. Their boycott is nothing but a childish stunt  in my view.

Two of the nation’s premier moral issues organizations, the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America, are refusing to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in February because a homosexual activist group, GOProud, has been invited.

“We’ve been very involved in CPAC for over a decade and have managed a couple of popular sessions. However, we will no longer be involved with CPAC because of the organization’s financial mismanagement and movement away from conservative principles,” said Tom McClusky, senior vice president for FRC Action.

“CWA has decided not to participate in part because of GOProud,” CWA President Penny Nance told WND.

FRC and CWA join the American Principles Project, American Values, Capital Research Center, the Center for Military Readiness, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage in withdrawing from CPAC. In November, APP organized a boycott of CPAC over the participation of GOProud.

There is also a good deal of dismay over the growing Libertarian attitude among many Republicans. Frankly, the GOP should embrace more of the Libertarian ideals, not all necessarily, but many of them. The fact is the more we can remove government from our lives, ALL areas of our lives, the better! Some “Social Conservatives” are all for embracing small government, until something offends them. Then they want the FCC to crack down on TV, then they start carping about “public airwaves” and “community standards” to beat the band. Of course, now their mantra about5 public airwaves is being used by Liberals like Al Sharpton to try and use the FCC to control Conservative talkers like Rush Limbaugh.

The sad fact is this, once you invite the government into your home to control your TV, or your community standards, so you will not be offended, that same government will soon be in every room of your house. That same government will soon be controlling everything you do. The Social Conservatives ought to learn this lesson, and learn how to use the remote control as well. trust me it is pretty easy.

Again, boycotting CPAC just makes these groups look less Conservative and more like Liberals to me. If I were to advise them, I would say grow up and show up.
