Clinton Won At Least 6 Iowa Precinct Votes By A Coin Toss – Chicagoist

.

.
That American democracy would allow even one vote to be decided by a coin toss seems bizarre – but somehow the outcome of six separate Iowa Caucus precinct elections were decided by the flip of a coin Monday. And Hillary Clinton won them all.

The Democrats’ Iowa Caucus appears to be a “virtual tie” between Bernie Sanders and Clinton – or a hairline win for Clinton, depending on whom you ask. But before eking out the narrowest of victories against Sanders, Clinton won a truly bizarre-sounding six coin tosses used to decide which candidate would get the votes of several Iowa precincts that were too tied up to call.

Precincts in Des Moines, Newton, West Branch, Davenport and Ames were decided by coin tosses, according to Reuters, and became crucial parts of Clinton’s Monday night win. Democratic Party counts show Clinton ultimately winning the Iowa Caucus by just four delegates.

If you’re still scratching your head over how this could happen, the Iowa Democratic Party sort of explains: On the night of the caucus, Iowans vote for their favorite candidate. Each precinct receives a set number of delegates, and the number of precinct delegates each candidate gets is proportional to the votes he or she got from the precinct’s population. Votes from those delegates ultimately determine the night’s big winner. When a precinct’s delegates vote and it results in a tie, the precinct leaders can flip a coin to figure out which candidate should win their majority.

Apparently Iowa is just one of 35 states to use “chance procedures” – a.k.a. throwing a coin in the air in exasperation and walking away in shame – to determine tied elections, according to the Washington Post.

Sanders Campaign: Party Lost 5 Percent Of Iowa Vote – Roll Call

The Iowa Democratic Party informed the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernard Sanders late Monday night that it has no results for 90 precincts across the state, which could account for as much as 5 percent of the total vote. And the party has asked the campaigns for help in getting a tally for those missing results.

“We are, right now, calling all our precinct captains on precincts where we have knowledge of what’s missing, to report what we think happened there,” a visibly irate Robert Becker, Sanders’ state director told Roll Call after Sanders’ speech at the Holiday Inn near the Des Moines airport.

“They’ve asked the other campaigns to do the same thing. At the end of the day, there’s probably going to be squabbles on it,” he added.

An Iowa Democratic Party official disputed Becker’s characterization.

“We are currently getting results from our small number of outstanding precincts, and results continue to be reported on our public website,” an Iowa Democratic Party official told Roll Call. “The reports of precincts without chairs are inaccurate. These outstanding precincts have chairs who we are in the process of contacting to get their results. It is inaccurate to report that these precincts did not have chairs.”

“We have reached out to the campaigns for help in contacting the chairs for our outstanding precincts. We are not taking results from the campaigns. We are taking them from the chairs who are in these precincts,” the official added.

Clinton and Sanders were locked in a virtual tie for most of the evening, with the state party announcing early Tuesday morning that Clinton achieved a slight edge in delegate counts.

“The party has a responsibility to staff 1,681 individual precincts. And what we’re seeing right now is that they had no-shows. People not showing up with the materials, not showing up with the app to report it. And when they’re telling us an hour ago that they have basically lost 90 precincts, it’s an outrage,” Becker said. “It’s insulting to the people who worked their asses off across this state that they can’t come up with people to cover these things.”

Attempts to reach the Clinton campaign early Tuesday were unsuccessful.

“I’m assuming they’re in the same boat. And they should be just as outraged as we are,” Becker fumed.

While it seems liberals may think that raising the minimum wage will raise living standards for poor Americans, they should have seen this coming.

With Los Angeles joining Seattle in setting a $15 minimum wage (Los Angeles by 2020, and Seattle by 2021), it stands to reason that McDonald’s would find a way around simply paying workers more, as Vox pointed out the obvious fact that “the reality is that McDonald’s just wants to make money.”

The U.S. military was totally taken by surprise when Saudi Arabia attacked Houthi rebels in Yemen this week.

NBC’s Richard Engel says Arab nations, and former allies, no longer trust the United States due to the Obama administration’s new friendship with Iran.

The damage of Barack Obama’s disastrous foreign policy builds with each new day.

The Washington Free Beacon reported:

NBC’s Richard Engel reported Friday that U.S. officials were stunned they were not given any notice before Saudi Arabia launched attacks against Houthi rebels. According to Engel, military leaders were finding out about the developments on the Yemen border in real time.

Engel said officials from both the military and members of Congress believe they were not given advanced warning because the Arab nations do not trust the Obama administration after they befriended Iran.

“Saudi Arabia and other countries simply don’t trust the United States any more, don’t trust this administration, think the administration is working to befriend Iran to try to make a deal in Switzerland, and therefore didn’t feel the intelligence frankly would be secure. And I think that’s a situation that is quite troubling for U.S. foreign policy,” Engel said.

And, why would any US ally trust the Obama regime?

** The Obama administration released a 1987 report on Israel’s top secret nuclear program this week.

Gun-Grabber Angela Giron Proves How Completely Clueless A Leftard Can Be (Videos)

Gun-Grabber Angela Giron Embarrasses Herself Again – Twitchy

After last week’s historic Colorado recall, it’s no surprise to see the two recalled former state Senators trotted out to castigate Second Amendment defenders on liberal talk shows. On MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes” last night, Angela Giron (last seen blaming her recall on “voter suppression”) blithely displayed the abject ignorance of those on the Left who salivate at the thought of restricting Americans’ rights to self-defense without knowing anything about the issue.

Here she is claiming that “you couldn’t have any more armed people than” were at the Navy Yard during Monday’s shooting.

.

.
Transcript:

[The NRA] is no longer a gun owner’s organization. It’s a manufacturer’s organization. And that’s how they’re benefiting. If you look at their board members, they’re all manufacturers; they’re all making money. And I think that the more we can inform people and inform NRA members about what’s really going on here. It’s just follow the money. And people are dying because of greed and their continuing to convince people that more guns equals safety. And in this case in particular, we can look at, it was a Navy Yard. You couldn’t have any more armed people than in that case right there. We know that that’s not the case; the data doesn’t show that. And so we just have to continue to be out there.

Of course, the Navy Yard, like all military installations, has strict regulations against non-security gun possession:

Excepting military police and troops shooting under supervision at practice ranges, no person (regardless of rank) is today allowed to carry any weapon (including standard service pistols) onto any US military base or to keep any weapon, even stored securely, in his office or personal quarters.

But that’s not all. Giron, who championed universal background checks in Colorado, also claimed that shooting suspect Aaron Alexis probably wouldn’t have been able to pass a background check had he tried to purchase a gun:

Transcript:

Well in fact we know that in this particular case that this man who went and gunned down people would probably not have passed a background check had he went to purchase some firearms. So I mean what we’ve said all along is, well there is no perfect law, but certainly universal background checks, which 90 percent of Americans agree to and believe in, as well as 60 some percent of NRA members, and limiting capacity to 15 that is so reasonable…

As was widely reported and tweeted Monday evening, Aaron Alexis bought his shotgun legally. By early yesterday afternoon (hours before Giron’s segment aired), various news outlets had reported that Alexis bought the firearm at Sharpshooters Small Arms Range in Lorton, Va., two days before the shooting. An attorney for the store told the media that “the store ran a federal background check on Alexis and it was approved.”

More than two, actually. In addition to the background check performed by Sharpshooters Small Arms Range, Alexis also had to pass background checks in order to obtain a security clearance and a concealed-carry permit.

Clearly, universal background checks wouldn’t have made any difference in Alexis’ case.

It’s not the first time. Tucson, Ariz., shooter Jared Lee Loughner, Virginia Tech gunman Seung-Hui Cho, and Aurora, Colo., shooter James Holmes all passed background checks, despite having been previously diagnosed with mental health problems.

Of course, neither Chris Hayes nor Giron’s fellow recallee John Morse did anything to keep Giron from derping into complete stupidity. Luckily for Giron, the segment aired on MSNBC, so hardly anyone actually saw her idiocy.
