Using Brazil as the best argument against gun registration

Read it all at Bearing Arms, but the general summary is registration 1997, led to confiscation beginning in 2003, and was followed by spiking murder rates

The disarmament concept was officially introduced in Brazil in 1997, when the first effectively restrictive of gun-bearing law was enacted (bill # 9,437/97), through which the National System of Weapons-SINARM, intended for strict control of legal weapons circulation, was also created. A few years later, at the end of 2003, the law became even more restrictive, with the “Disarmament Statute”, which had as its major goal precisely to reduce the amount of murders in the country. It was, actually, putting into practice of a disarmament ideology drawn up by the UN long before, although without any proven positive example.

Obviously, it was to no avail. The murders, as seen, have not been reduced, but, on the contrary, they’ve reached their highest number, and what was said to be a magic solution became an unquestioned and grandiose failure. Establishing the prohibition of the possession, as well as carry-on, as a general rule, the Disarmament Statute began to take effect in 2004, the year in which 48,374 homicides were recorded in Brazil . Four years later, with the near extinction of the legal arms trade practice, the numbers came to 50,113 (2008) and since then, there have been on a upward climb until the record of 56,337, registered in 2012.

This is, of course the very road the Left wishes to take America down. Will they ever learn from past mistakes?

Your WTF? story of the day

Mr Balls?

Mascot “Mr. Balls” is making the rounds in Brazil.

MSN reported:

Meet Mr. Balls. He’s the friendly and surprisingly graphic mascot for a Brazilian nonprofit cancer association, and as a brand ambassador he is a wildly inappropriate success. According to the group’s website: “Both children and adults loved taking pictures with the mascot.” That explains the shot of him waving to the camera on a city street while children frolic at his hairy side. No joke; we totally respect raising awareness for testicular cancer research. But does there really need to be such loving attention to detail in the sponge painting around the bottom of Mr. Balls’, um, teabag?

Mr. balls? I think we are being played folks, I think we know who Mr. Balls REALLY is. have a look

Breaking: Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology To Brazil – Gateway Pundit

Yesterday, after a conflict-fraught deliberation process, the Obama Administration awarded the Light Air Support (LAS) contract to Brazilian-based Embraer over Beechcraft; a Wichita Kansas based company with a long history of supplying the U.S. military with aircraft.

………..Hawker Beechcraft Headquarters in Witchita, Kansas.

Had Beechcraft been granted the contract, the company expected to add or sustain 1,400 jobs in the U.S. The Embraer plane, on the other hand, will be primarily built in Brazil, with only about 50 assembly jobs in the U.S.

After a long-drawn-out contracting process that has been marred in controversy and questionable conduct by government officials, the Pentagon and the Obama Administration have again decided to put taxpayers at risk and ship jobs overseas by allowing a foreign company to produce important components of our national security.

“On Thursday February 27th, Department of Defense (DOD) officials awarded the Light Air Support (LAS) contract to the Brazilian aircraft maker, Embraer. Interestingly and without explanation, the cost of the contract to taxpayers somehow ballooned from $355 million to $427.5 million, a 20 percent increase. With sequestration and billions of dollars in defense cuts set to take place, taxpayers should be outraged at this cost increase.

“By awarding the contract to the Brazilians, the Administration has once again failed to give Beechcraft, the American-made aircraft manufacturer vying for the contract, the full and fair consideration that was required during the procurement process…

“…Now, the Administration is doubling-down on their prior mistakes by putting a critical defense project in the hands of a foreign sovereign. The extent of the carnage this decision causes is not just limited to the millions that will be sent overseas for these 20 LAS aircraft in the near-term. There are broader implications and untold billions of taxpayer dollars at stake by the Pentagon’s decision to grant the U.S. Air Force’s seal of approval to a foreign entity – backed financially and politically by Brazil. The Brazilian government has a “golden share” in Embraer, which essentially translates into operational control of the company. Not only does this put tax dollars at risk with the Brazilian company, but also could threaten US national security. The Administration’s unjustifiable endorsement of this Brazilian company could be exploited by them to gain unfair and unwarranted advantages in the U.S. and around the world. Meanwhile, domestic manufacturers are forced to cut jobs and highly skilled workers remain unemployed here at home.

Beechcraft just emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

US women beat Brazil, blind refs to advance in World Cup

DRESDEN, Germany (AP) — The Americans are moving on to the semifinals after one of the most riveting games in the history of the Women’s World Cup — beating Brazil 5-3 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 tie.

Abby Wambach tied it with a magnificent, leaping header in the 122nd minute, and goalkeeper Hope Solo denied the Brazilians again.”We believe we can win this tournament,” Wambach said. “I don’t know if you can write a better script.”

How is this even possible?

Georgia has passed a tough illegal immigration law. How is that any business of 11 Central American nations? And how in the world can they bring suit against Georgia? William Teach

Perhaps Georgia should turn around and sue Mexico for their much more stringent immigration policies

Eleven foreign countries, including Mexico and Brazil, are suing the state of Georgia for its law cracking down on illegal immigration. Neil spoke to Georgia State Representative Matt Ramsey who says that “All we’re trying to do is see the enforcement of American immigration law occur, which is incidentally, compared to Mexico, is liberal and welcome.” Ramsey says the law is intended to protect the state’s economy because taxpayers are subsidizing half a million illegal immigrants in Georgia via public schools, law enforcement and health care costs.

Exactly what right does a foreign nation have to sue one of the states? This boggles my mind it really does.

Maybe Obama used all those silver bullets killing domestic oil production?

Doug Powers  reports that  Barack Obama has no “silver bullets” to bring down those darned gas prices. Maybe they were all used up shooting holes in our economy, especially domestic oil drilling? Or maybe, as Powers suggests, it is not about silver but about gold and green?

There are several “silver bullets” to help bring down the price of gas, but none of those pieces of silver create gold for the “green” sector or keep the tax stream flowing to government, so motorists will keep being in the red for the foreseeable future:

President Barack Obama reiterated his plan to stabilize soaring gas prices, telling Americans in his weekly address on Saturday that “instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy sources, we need to invest in tomorrow’s.”

At a time when the economy is struggling to rebound and many people are still searching for jobs, a $4 per gallon price tag is “just another burden when things were already pretty tough,” Obama said.

Echoing a criticism he has made frequently in the past, the president condemned politicians who “score a few points” by offering quick-fix solutions whenever there is a spike in gas prices. “The truth is, there’s no silver bullet that can bring down gas prices right away,” Obama said.

So far Obama’s only real solution for strapped consumers has been to tell them to trade in their gas guzzlers for kumquat-powered golf carts and to mock “drill baby drill,” and yet the oil market seems unimpressed.

Powers also points out that Obama is willing to help build a new refinery. He is even willing to shell out nearly 3 billion of our dollars for it. That refinery will be in Columbia, no, not Columbia, South Carolina, of course not! It will be in Columbia, as in Central America. Can you say outsourcing jobs? Of course, Obama also wants to use our technology to help Brazil drill off its shores for oil. Yet he opposes the use of that same technology here! He also opposes drilling in Alaska, and seemingly anywhere else in this country. Gee, I wonder if these policies might have a hand in rising gas prices? Or, as Obama prefers to say, a “gradual adjustment”

Of course, Obama tells us he wants us to get “greener” find alternative sources of energy. And, if you really think he gives a damn about Americans gas woes, recall that he loves him some cap and trade. And cap and trade will mean less “gradual adjustments” and more “skyrocket”!

You see it is about a “fundamental change” in America. A change that will force us to go “green”, no matter how much it harms our economy. Even if it “bankrupts” certain industries.

And if Obama would bankrupt the coal industry, and see prices for electricity “skyrocket”, why would he hesitate to do the same to the domestic oil industry?

Of course, we should not worry because President Obama has a vision, a vision of a new Marxist America. An America where wealth is, well, you know, “shared”, and a nation where we have economic and social justice!
