Democrat State Senator From California And Assemblyman Brother Indicted On Multiple Corruption Charges

Anti-Gun California Political Powerhouses Indicted On Corruption Charges – The Examiner

California State Senator Ron Calderon and his brother, former Assemblyman Tom Calderon, have been indicted on political corruption charges resulting from an FBI investigation, the Los Angeles Daily News/Whittier Daily News reported Friday, citing what officials call “the largest insurance fraud case to date in California.

“Sen. Ron Calderon was charged… with fraud, bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering, money laundering and aiding in the filing of false tax returns,” the report explains. “His brother, Tom Calderon, a former Assemblyman, was also charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and money laundering.

“The charges seemed certain to tarnish the Calderon clan, a political dynasty that’s long held power in southeast Los Angeles County,” the report predicted.

That power within the Calderon’s “political web” is further elaborated by The Los Angeles Times in a report yesterday detailing “The Calderon family’s connections,” and featuring not just Tom and Ron, but also brother Charles, a former assemblyman and state senator, and his son Ian, 27, “who became the assemblyman representing Whittier in 2012.”

In a development tangentially related to the corruption charges, a $25,000 contribution last year by “Yes We Can,” a political committee tied to the California Latino Legislative Caucus, a group Thomas Calderon was vice chair of, to Californians for Diversity, a nonprofit group that in 2011 listed him as president, was “raising eyebrows around the Capitol,” The Los Angeles Times reported in October. Not only had Calderon’s group not filed tax returns for 2012 at the time of that report, but concerns were raised over the inordinate amount of expenditures for “travel and food and beverages [and] entertainment for public officials.” That prompted Kathy Feng, executive director of the “progressive” advocacy group California Common Cause, to assess “that Californians for Diversity is a nonprofit that does not have a clear charity or social benefit purpose. I am also concerned that this nonprofit may have been created just to serve as a pass-through for money.”

One connection “Authorized Journalists” writing for “mainstream” outlets have not, and will not explore, is the affinity the Calderon clan has for using their political power to impose citizen disarmament edicts.

Among his many anti-gun votes, Ron Calderon supported prohibiting semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines, expanding the list of crimes to disqualify individuals from firearms ownership, prohibiting lead ammunition for hunting, and expanding loaded firearm restrictions.

When he was in power, indicted brother Thomas earned an “F” rating from NRA, a “0%” score from Gun Owners of America, and a “100%” approval from the Jack Berman Advocacy Center, a group “created… to work on violence reduction and gun control.” Likewise, brother Charles was given an “F” by NRA in 2010, and young Ian also appears to be insatiable on the gun issue, supporting magazine capacity limits and all the other restrictions Uncle Ron demands.

While the charges have yet to be proven in a court of law, and while the Calderons deserve a presumption of innocence, there’s a pattern emerging here that is familiar to gun owners, especially those who have noticed an unmistakable connection between the politically powerful, the connected, the special interest panderers and the corrupt, and how many of those types always seem to take the lead in demanding “ordinary citizens” be disarmed.

That such types always appear to have a lock on power in their districts, no matter how they conduct themselves and in spite of all the red flags they raise, points to factors other than strictly politics in play. It more than hints at cynical, self-interested exploitation of human issues to advance the larger agenda for what Barack Obama calls “a fundamental transformation,” currently blocked in part by a major obstacle “progressives” need to overcome: an armed citizenry that will not be ruled by men such as these.

Bronx Democrat Assemblyman Arrested For Taking $20,000 In Bribes

‘Here We Go Again’: Eric Stevenson, Bronx Democratic Assemblyman, Arrested For Taking $20,000 In Bribes In Second Corruption Case In New York This Week – New York Daily News

Would the last honest politician in Albany turn off the lights – or simply steal the bulbs?

The ever-expanding cesspool of political corruption in New York claimed a Bronx assemblyman Thursday, barely two days after a state senator and five other political figures were busted in a separate bribery scheme.

The arrest of Eric Stevenson (D-Bronx) in a bribery scandal came with an unexpected twist: The two-termer was nabbed with the cooperation of a crooked Assembly colleague who became an informant.

The secret aid of Nelson Castro, who flipped in 2009 after a perjury indictment, raised the specter of additional arrests while spooking many in the Bronx Democrat’s political orbit.

“Here we go again,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said after the latest criminal complaint was unsealed. “This has become something of a habit.”

Stevenson, his eyes bloodshot and his future uncertain, was freed on $250,000 bond Thursday afternoon after a hearing with his four co-defendants in Manhattan Federal Court.

“I’m all right,” he declared – a bold statement given the cache of audio and video recordings made as he allegedly collected $20,000 in cash bribes.

In return, he allegedly tried to help the other conspirators open a pair of Bronx adult day care centers. He did this largely by steering his constituents their way and sponsoring legislation to prevent competing centers from opening for three years , prosecutors said.

Stevenson took the payoffs despite his paranoia about informants and fears about wiretapping, his greed outweighing his caution, according to the complaint.

In one revealing conversation, Stevenson reinforced the perception of the state capital as a place where crooked deals are a fact of life.

“Bottom line… if half the people up here in Albany were ever caught for what they do… they … would probably be (in jail),” he said during a chat this past Dec. 27. “So who are they bullshitting?”

He went on to reel off the names of corrupt politicians and their sentences.

“Look what they gave (former City Councilman) Miguel (Martinez) from Washington Heights for $106,000… Five years for $106,000… (They were)setting an example, that’s why they did that to Miguel, right?” Stevenson said.

“Look what they gave (former state Sen.) Efrain (Gonzalez), seven years, they say, for $400,000,” he said. Referring to former Sen. Joseph Bruno, he added that Bruno “got off on appeal and never went back… they had him for a million.”

The 46-year-old Stevenson, who was reelected just five months ago, was handcuffed Thursday morning with the developers of the adult day care centers: Igor Belyansky, 42, of the Bronx; Rotislav Belyansky, 42, of the Bronx; Igor Tsimerman, 46, of Staten Island; and David Binman, 51, of Queens.

Eric Stevenson Complaint

The defendants face up to 20 years in prison if convicted on the top conspiracy charge in the five-count complaint.

The 28-page document detailed an outrageous alliance between Stevenson and the crew.

Last September, Stevenson purportedly received an envelope stuffed with $10,000 cash on a Bronx street – shoving the money into his pants pocket.

He insisted on taking the bribe outside a Bronx steakhouse, because he was worried about its security cameras, according to the complaint. Stevenson was unaware that cops were watching from an unmarked car, and the whole thing was captured on video.

Four months later, a failed Bronx political candidate – Sigfredo Gonzalez, working as a cooperating witness after he was caught making a bribe – presented Stevenson with his cut from a stack of 50 $100 bills inside an Albany hotel bathroom.

Gonzalez made another $5,000 payoff to Stevenson inside his car — with the politician placing a finger to his lips, insisting on a silent swap, the complaint charged.

In the plot’s most insidious twist, Stevenson introduced a bill in Albany on Feb. 20 imposing a moratorium on construction of similar adult day care centers – an attempt to eliminate the competition for his co-conspirators.

The bill never passed. But the scam was “an especially breathtaking bit of corruption, even by Albany standards,” said Bharara.

As the scheme evolved, Stevenson and the others referred to the illegal cash payments as “blessings” or “packages.”

“Are Igor (Belyansky) and them putting together a nice little package for me, huh?” Stevenson asked at one point around the turn of the new year. “I got my inauguration I gotta take care of, I got a lot of shit, man. I got to feed all the people.”

Gonzalez explained the allure of easy money to Stevenson during one of their many taped talks.

“When the money is good and there is a way you can get it and you start to do it, and then you do it once, and then you notice that you don’t get caught – then you go and do it again, and you keep doing it again, again, again,” Gonzalez said.

His words were prescient: Stevenson initially turned down an offer of payment, but was soon soliciting the cash in return for his help, the complaint charged.

Castro, 41, became a federal informant after being indicted in July 2009 for lying in an investigation of voter fraud in the Bronx.

“He has been working on looking into many avenues of possible corruption in Albany,” said one source familiar with the matter.

Castro’s work in the Stevenson case began in early 2012. Prosecutors recorded Tsimerman giving Castro a bribe and Gonzalez asking for a cut of the money. Gonzalez, who worked for the day care center developers, then turned around and worked to help prosectors gather evidence against Stevenson.

State officials were quick to condemn Stevenson, particularly after Tuesday’s arrests of state Sen. Malcolm Smith (D-Queens) and City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens) in a scheme to buy Smith’s entry into the Republican primary for mayor through bribes.

“The events of this and the last few days fail… every standard of public service,” said Gov. Cuomo. “We must act quickly and aggressively to hold the guilty parties accountable.”

State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver issued a statement calling for Stevenson to resign.

According to the complaint, in exchange for bribes, Stevenson also worked to expedite installation of a Con Ed gas line to one of the day care centers and to help get a certificate of occupancy.

But his biggest promise was to pass the moratorium on construction of new adult day care centers in the city.

According to complaint, Igor Belyansky estimated that the moratorium, had it been enacted, would have doubled his $350,000 investment in the two adult day care centers.

The developers appealed to Stevenson’s pride as well as his pockets: They allegedly offered to name their new center in honor of Stevenson’s late grandfather, an assemblyman in the 1960s.

Defense attorney Murray Richman said Stevenson would be exonerated.

New Jersey: Democrat Assemblyman’s Bondage Emails Leaked To Press

Bummer. Popular NJ Democrat’s Bondage Emails Leaked To Press – Gateway Pundit

File under: Horny Democrats behaving badly.

Assemblyman Joe Cryan – Working hard for New Jersey

Who knew? A top New Jersey Democrat who’s being touted for higher office is a big fan of bondage.

The New York Post reported:

A powerful New Jersey Democrat who’s being touted as the party’s next state chairman has an insatiable lust for bondage, oral sex and spanking, secret e-mails obtained by The Post reveal.

Assemblyman Joe Cryan, of Union, graphically spelled out his kinky proclivities in more than 150 e-mails that he sent to a lobbyist – and then fought to keep them hidden after he stunned the state political world by having her busted for stalking in 2006.

After her arrest, Karen Golding said that they were intimately involved – and that she had the e-mails to prove it. Cryan has denied the relationship.

Cryan urged prosecutors for years to keep the courts from releasing the e-mails’ sexually charged content, while Golding pushed to get them out, first referring to them in court papers in 2009.

With the case still playing out in court, the secret correspondence – racy enough to make any “Fifty Shades of Grey’’ fan blush – landed on the driveway of a Post reporter.

“What do you want to be spanked with?” the lascivious lawmaker asked Golding in an inappropriate workday exchange that spanned 14 hours on June 28, 2004.

“What will you wear to beg for it?”

“Available for a bj this morning?” Cryan lustfully queried. “I’m really hard and horny.”

N.Y. Assemblyman Exposes Real Gun Control Confiscation Agenda Of Democrats (Video)

N.Y. Assemblyman Exposes Real Gun Control Confiscation Agenda Of Democrats – Right Scoop

In this video, N.Y. Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin is asked to keep quiet a proposal by Democrats to confiscate guns:

On his Facebook page, McLaughlin went ahead and released the list:

“Here it is. This is the video where I was asked to keep the Democrat proposals for the N.Y. SAFE Act away from the public. This list was given to me by a colleague and it is not confidential.

This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night:

1. Confiscation of “assault weapons”
2. Confiscation o ten round clips
3. Statewide database for ALL Guns
4. Continue to allow pistol permit holder’s information to be replaced to the public
5. Label semiautomatic shotguns with more than 5 rounds or pistol grips as “assault weapons”
6. Limit the number of rounds in a magazine to 5 and confiscation and forfeiture of banned magazines
7. Limit possession to no more than two (2) magazines
8. Limit purchase of guns to one gun per person per month
9. Require re-licensing of all pistol permit owners
10. Require renewal of all pistol permits every five years
11. State issued pistol permits
12. Micro-stamping of all guns in New York State
13. Require licensing of all gun ammo dealers
14. Mandatory locking of guns at home
15. Fee for licensing, registering weapons”

And people scoff at conservatives like Rush who have been saying for years that Democrats want to confiscate weapons.

Democrat Assemblyman Jailed After Threatening To Shoot Nevada Assembly Speaker

Assemblyman In jail, Accused Of Threatening Fellow Lawmaker – Las Vegas Sun

A Democratic assemblyman is in jail, arrested for threatening Democratic Speaker-elect Marilyn Kirkpatrick, according to North Las Vegas Police and Democratic sources familiar with the situation.

Assemblyman Steven Brooks, 40, of North Las Vegas made threats to harm a public official Saturday afternoon, police said in a news release Sunday morning. A source said he was arrested with a loaded gun after threatening to shoot Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick and witnesses who corroborated the allegation prompted police to begin searching for Brooks. About 5:30 p.m., Brooks was seen driving in the area of Carey Avenue and Mt. Hood Street, where he was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop.

Another Democratic source with knowledge of the situation said Brooks publicly threatened to harm Kirkpatrick because he was unhappy with the committee assignments given to him by Kirkpatrick. The 2013 Legislature begins Feb. 4.

Kirkpatrick was selected to lead the Assembly by the Democratic caucus, but she was expected to face divisions. Her caucus was split between her and Assemblyman William Horne, D-Las Vegas, after the presumed incoming speaker, Assemblyman Marcus Conklin, D-Las Vegas, lost his re-election bid. That threw the caucus into turmoil.

Brooks had told lobbyists and other lawmakers that he had expected to become chairman of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, a powerful committee that oversees changes to the governor’s proposed budget. Assemblywoman Maggie Carlton, D-Las Vegas, was selected for the position.

Brooks was booked into Las Vegas City Jail on one count of intimidating a public officer by threat of physical violence.

North Las Vegas Police, citing the ongoing investigation, would not release further details.

Brendan Summers, executive director of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, released a statement saying, “We understand an investigation is currently ongoing, and we have no further comment at this time.”

Democratic sources with knowledge of the caucus said that Brooks’ behavior in caucus meetings had been “erratic” and leadership had begun documenting his behavior.

Brooks was first elected in 2010. He represents Assembly District 17.

Brooks had served as an assistant for Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow. He currently works as a management analyst with the city of Las Vegas for the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department. His gross wage for 2011, when he also served for four months in the Legislature, was $32,873, according to transparentnevada.com. His wages for 2012 won’t be available until Tuesday, Las Vegas officials said.

“As is the city’s standard practice, we will treat this situation as a personnel matter, meaning the facts surrounding it will be thoroughly reviewed,” Las Vegas spokesman David Riggleman said. “Following that review, the city will take the appropriate action.”

Brooks in 2011 was drawn into a seat with Assemblyman Cresent Hardy, R-Mesquite, after the 2011 legislative session in lines determined by a bipartisan panel. Brooks moved into his current seat rather than face Hardy.

Brooks is 40 and has four children.

Daily Benefactor News – Wisconsin Democrat Assemblyman To Republican: ”You’re F-ing Dead”

————————————————————- TOP STORY ————————————————————-

Wisconsin Democrat Assemblyman To Republican: ”You’re F-ing Dead” – Habledash

Wisconsin, particularly Madison, is where progressivism (liberalism) was allegedly born. That explains why the protests have been so violent in the dairy state’s capital. We’ve reported closely on the thug labor union protestors and their violent attacks on the opposition and the media.

However, The Daily Caller reported a very serious incident today. Milwaukee AM 620 radio host Charlie Sykes brought attention to an encounter between a Democrat and Republican state representative and it’s what we’ve been expecting all along: a Republican’s life was threatened.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has been standing strong while Democratic state senators bolted to Illinois to avoid casting a vote that would put their collective bargaining rights on the same level as federal employees. Collectively bargaining is a privilege, not a right.

On his radio show, Charlie Sykes detailed an exchange between Democratic State Rep. Gordon Hintz and Republican State Rep. Michelle Litjens. It needs to be noted that earlier this month, Gordon Hintz was busted in a prostitution sting, so it’s clear that we have a pervert on our hands. After the vote was taken to “engross” Walker’s state budget repair bill, the true color of a liberal came to light.

“You’re f*cking dead.”

State Rep. Hintz made that statement directly to Michelle Litjens, a Republican who supports Governor Walker. She has confirmed this and even called on the media to investigate the situation.

The radio host went so far as to challenge the media.

“Here’s my challenge: Is anybody in the media going to follow up on this story about Gordon Hintz? All you need to do is call the state representative. Call Michelle Litjens, ask her this question. Call Gordon Hintz, ask him. Call other members and if he denies it, I actually have a list of other legislators who heard it.”

We’re surprised it took this long for a death threat to have been made. Watching the many clips, it’s quite apparent that these protestors are violent thugs that are devoid of the facts of the situation. Their objective is to keep their liberal agenda moving forward at any expense, including threatening the life of a co-worker because she has a different opinion.

Hintz, shortly ago, apologized for his comments, but only because he was caught.

“I believe my response was shock. The only way they were going to pass this bill was by ignoring and shredding rules of the Assembly. I apologized when I learned my comments may have been taken personally by someone.”

Personal attacks tend to get taken personally.

This is what it’s come to. Threaten the opposition with violence to scare them into hiding. All of these tactics are key principles to Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Make no mistake, these thugs are radicals, and it’s going to get worse before it gets any better in Wisconsin.
