According to a report in the Telegraph newspaper there has been a new record set for the longest kill shot in Afghanistan.
GPS aids supposedly “measured the distance the bullet traveled at 2815 meters”, beating the previous record of 2475 meters for a confirmed kill.
The shot was taken by a commando sniper team in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
“Through binoculars at a distance invisible to the naked eye they spotted a group of Taliban. The soldiers having means of identifying targets went through a process of obtaining verification and permission to engage. Two marksmen using Barrett M82A1 50 caliber rifles simultaneously fired. The bullets were six seconds in the air. One killed the Taliban commander. It is not known for certain which sniper fired the fatal shot. While there have been no triumphant press releases, in the tight global Special Forces sniper community the shot is much discussed, because it seems certain to be a world record” (source: Taliban remain in fear of lethal strikes, writes Chris Masters http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/taliban-remain-in-fear-of-lethal-strikes-writes-chris-masters/story-e6frezz0-1226504862496).
The M82A1 50 caliber is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle developed by the American Barrett Firearms Manufacturing company. A heavy SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle), is in use by many units and armies around the world.
At that distance the targeted Taliban would not have heard the gunfire that killed him.
The article noted that the previous world record achieved by British Corporal Craig Harrison occurred also in Helmand in November 2009. Firing from a distance of 2475m, Harrison killed two Taliban.

The names of the snipers involved are not known but they are thought to be members of the Australian Defense Force Delta Company of 2 Commando Regiment, based on the information in the Telegraph report, which was dated less than 24 hours ago.

Texas Governor Rick Perry said a record number of illegal immigrants from Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.
On Sunday’s State of the Union on CNN, Perry said the “historic record highs” of individuals from “countries that have substantial terrorist ties” threaten America’s national security.
Later on the program, Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), the House Homeland Security Committee Chair, said Iranian terrorists have had plans to sneak across the border. He also said that others who want to do harm are seeking to exploit America’s porous border.
Perry also said that since 2008, 203,000 illegal immigrants have been put in Texas’ jails, and those illegal immigrants “have been responsible for 3,000 homicides and almost 8,000 sexual assaults.”
“I wish the President would respect that desire of Texans and the citizens of this country to secure the border,” Perry said. “That’s the real issue here—and one that all too often gets deflected by the conversation about unaccompanied minor children.”
A viral video showing a ‘UFO’ destroying what is stated to be a Taliban base in Afghanistan has taken the internet by storm.
The one-minute-35-second YouTube clip contains footage of a mysterious triangular-shaped flying object using Star Wars-like firepower for destruction.
The location is reported to be a Taliban camp in the eastern Afghan city of Asadabad.
“As the crew of a Nato armoured vehicle watch on in the foreground, flashing lights suddenly flash spit forth from the underside of the mysterious object,” states a Mirror report.
Explosions can be seen and heard and soon the place gets covered by the huge cloud of smoke. In the later part of the video, the person shooting it zooms in, giving viewers a close-up of the flying object.
The video, titled ‘UFO attacks Taliban camp’, was reportedly filmed by US Marines in March 2014.
YouTube users have been quick to comment on the film, which has been viewed more than 69,000 times since it was uploaded on 5 May.
While some users on social media claimed that the craft was a drone, others insist that it is fake.
Watch the video below:
Nor could they say how much the U.S. is spending in Afghanistan, even far-left Congressman Gerry Connolly called their inability to answer these questions “stunning.”
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R., Calif.) had a simple question Wednesday for three of the Obama administration’s top Afghanistan specialists: How many American troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year?
None of the witnesses at the House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Afghanistan had an answer.
How much is the U.S. spending in Afghanistan? Mr. Rohrabacher asked.
No one could say.
“We’re supposed to believe that you fellas have a plan that’s going to end up in a positive way in Afghanistan?” Mr. Rohrabacher asked. “Holy cow!”
Mr. Rohrabacher’s incredulous questioning came during a two-hour hearing on U.S. policy in Afghanistan that revealed increasing congressional frustration with U.S. policy as the administration tries to rescue its plan to keep thousands of troops in Afghanistan through the end of this decade, if not beyond.
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D., Va.) called the witnesses’ inability to rattle off the facts “a stunning development.”
“How can you come to a congressional oversight hearing on this subject and not know” the answers? He asked. “Like that wouldn’t be a question the tip of one’s tongue.”
I would be very clear, not “clear” like Mr. Let Me Be Clear While I Lie Through My Teeth To You, but truly clear, especially to other nations.
To North Korea I would say, this. The next threat you issue towards us, or our allies will be taken seriously, and will result in your country losing a major military installation of our choosing. A second threat will result in, well, you might not want to even think about that.
To Hamid Karzai I would say. We are leaving, you are on your own, you will not place our military at a disadvantage with moronic rules of engagement that favor terrorists.
To Mexico I would say simply that we are going to seal our border and control who enters. Any group caught smuggling drugs into America will be found and eradicated by any means within our power to bring to bear. Also those drug cartels, which pose, in my view, a threat to Americans living in border states, will be dealt with by YOU, or I will confer with my military leaders and discern the most effective way to eradicate that vermin. And we will do so, and you will stay the Hell out-of-the-way.
To Iran a simple note would suffice. If you continue pursuing nuclear weapons, and thus posing a grave threat to us and our allies, I will not only support Israel in taking your capability out, but the United States military will be taking full part.
To China just this. Dear Chicoms, we will fly our fucking planes where we want WHEN we want, end of discussion! Oh, and about Taiwan, and Japan, do not even think about it.
Finally to the UN just a few words. Get you building the Hell out of America, YESTERDAY!
God bless the Red Raiders! This Gator salutes you
Texas Tech unveiled its good-looking “Lone Survivor” football uniforms on Monday, which the team will wear against Kansas State on Nov. 9 to honor slain Navy SEALS, Marcus Luttrell and his Lone Survivor Foundation.
Readers of TheBlaze are likely familiar with Luttrell’s story and the former Navy SEAL’s nonprofit he created after the release of his 2007 book “Lone Survivor.” The book tells Luttrell’s incredible story of survival and provides a sneak peak into the horrors of war during “Operation Redwing” in Afghanistan, where 19 members of Navy SEAL Team 10 were killed.
The helmet features the number “19″ in honor of the slain Navy SEALS and wings similar to those found in the Lone Survivor Foundation’s official logo. Further, the words “Never Quit” appear on the sleeves and helmet.
After Tech’s game against Kansas State, the jerseys will reportedly be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to the Lone Survivor Foundation, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Via Gateway Pundit. I have just one question. Can we put a bullet in this bastards head now?
AP reports: Army Maj. Nidal Hasan was convicted Friday in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, a shocking assault against American troops at home by one of their own who said he opened fire on fellow soldiers to protect Muslim insurgents abroad.
The Army psychiatrist acknowledged carrying out the attack in a crowded waiting room where unarmed troops were making final preparations to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Thirteen people were killed and more than 30 wounded.
Because Hasan never denied his actions, the court-martial was always less about a conviction than it was about ensuring he received the death penalty. From the beginning of the case, the federal government has sought to execute Hasan, believing that any sentence short of a lethal injection would deprive the military and the families of the dead of the justice they have sought for nearly four years.
A jury of 13 high-ranking military officers reached a unanimous guilty verdict in about seven hours. In the next phase of the trial, they must all agree to give Hasan the death penalty before he can be sent to the military’s death row, which has just five other prisoners. If they do not agree, the 42-year-old could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Four years? It took four years to convict this vile, despicable coward?
So, a Gurkha beheaded a Taliban fighter? What is the problem exactly? What do we need when fighting Jihadists? More bad asses like Gurkhas
A GURKHA under investigation for beheading a Taliban gunman has been allowed back on normal duty.
The Nepalese soldier faced court martial after he returned to base with the enemy fighter’s head in a bag and presented it to senior officers.
He had decapitated the insurgent with his kukri machete, the traditional Gurkha weapon, during fierce fighting on the Afghan front line.
Gurkhas do not play. I am reminded of the story about the Gurkha that killed 30 Taliban “fighters” in Afghanistan. One officer commented “what made the Taliban think 30 of them could take a Gurkha?”
In a shocking lack of security by the Obama Administration, a watchdog group has uncovered multiple instances of U.S. military contracts being handed out to supporters of the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Even more shocking is that Administration officials decided not to cancel them because of “due process rights”.
Following this report came a letter from John Sopko, the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction, citing 43 cases in which the U.S. Army Suspension and Debarment Office has declined to follow up on. Sopko said, “I am deeply troubled that the U.S. military can pursue, attack, and even kill terrorists and their supporters, but that some in the U.S. Government believe we cannot prevent these same people from receiving a government contract.”
Sopko explained that the Army should follow the rules of common sense in its debarment program. The problem lies in contracts that are divided amongst local contractors. Sopko specifically cited a $32 million dollar program to install barricades, bars and gratings to prevent the placement of roadside bombs, which he has found impossible to confirm the actual number of contracts awarded.
In response to his finding, the Army has stated there isn’t enough evidence to suspend the contracts under federal regulation. It went on to say that, “suspending the contracts at this point would fail to meet due-process requirements and would be deemed arbitrary if challenged in court.”
Summing up his concerns, IG Sopko said “Unless the U.S. Government improves in contract-oversight policies and practices, far too much will be wasted.”
Let’s hope the federal government stops funding our enemies.
“I regret maybe any repercussions it might have had on the Marines. But do I regret doing it? Hell no,” Sgt. Joseph Chamblin told WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., adding that he would do it again.
The infamous incident was videotaped and uploaded to YouTube last year, becoming international news and raising fears of retaliation by Afghan troops against their coalition trainers.
“These were the same guys that were killing our family, killing our brothers,” said Sgt. Chamblin, who was on a mission to stop Taliban insurgents from making roadside bombs.
One of his sniper team members, Sgt. Mark Bradley, was killed by a buried bomb days before the incident.
“We’re human,” he said. “Who wouldn’t if you lost your brother or mother? Wouldn’t you want revenge?”
Sgt. Chamblin said he didn’t consider endangering other troops by the act, but considered the psychological effect it would have on the enemy “because if an infidel touches the body, they’re not going to Mecca or paradise.”
“So now these insurgents see what happens when you mess with us,” said Sgt. Chamblin, adding that he is planning to retire in September and is writing a book.
The Marines court-martialed nine troops for the incident. Sgt. Chamblin, a 15-year veteran, pleaded guilty for urinating on the bodies and dereliction of duty and was fined $500 and demoted, WSOC reported.
“Do you want the Marine Corps to be a group of Boy Scout pretty boys or do you want guys that will go out and kill the people trying to take advantage of your country and kill Americans?” he said. “Which do you want? Because you can’t have both.”
The United States military is second to none, but there are two looming threats to that superiority. first there is defense cuts, which could leave our military impotent, then there is the threat of P. C. Here are some very bad signs
Via Fox News:
The U.S. military reportedly ordered soldiers to remove a cross and a steeple from atop a chapel and to board up cross-shaped windows at a remote American forward operating base in Afghanistan.
The removal of Christian symbols from the chapel at Forward Operating Base Orgun-E came after a solider complained — leading American Atheists president David Silverman to send a letter to the Pentagon.
“Soldiers with minority religious beliefs and atheists often feel like second-class citizens when Christianity is seemingly officially endorsed by their own base,” Silverman told Fox News. “We are very happy the Pentagon and the Army decided to do the right thing.”
Silverman said a Christian chapel on an Army base in Afghanistan could have put American troops in danger.
“It enflames this Muslim versus Christian mentality,” he said. “This is not a Muslim versus Christian war — but if the Army base has a large chapel on it that has been converted to Christian-only, it sends a message that could be interpreted as hostile to Islam.
The Army released a statement to NBC acknowledging board had also been placed over the cross-shaped windows while the base ordered new doors.
Here we go, better not risk offending an Atheist or an Islamist. I wonder what George Patton would have to say about this inanity. But there is more. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta seems to be obsessed with a gender neutral military
(CNSNews.com) – Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Thursday that whether they are male or female “everyone is entitled to a chance” to become a combat soldier in a military that will now adopt “gender neutral” standards.
“If members of our military can meet the qualifications for a job–and let me be clear, we’re not talking about reducing the qualifications for a job–if they can meet the qualifications for the job then they should have the right to serve,” Panetta said at a Pentagon press conference.
The Defense Department announced today that it would rescind its 1994 policy restricting women from serving in combat-focused positions such as infantry units, potentially opening up 230,000 positions to female service members.
Sure, IF the standards are not lowered or altered fine. Problem is, I do not trust a Liberal like Panetta, or a Leftist like his boss, to NOT change he standards. Then there is always the threat of our government caving in to UN pressure and surrendering part or all of our right to protect ourselves
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has launched an investigation into drone strikes and will review resultant civilian casualties to determine whether the attacks constitute a war crime.
Ben Emmerson, a UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism, formally launched the inquiry on Thursday, in response to requests from Russia, China and Pakistan.
A statement released by the UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights states that the inquiry will provide a “critical examination of the factual evidence concerning civilian casualties”. […]
At a press conference on Thursday in London, Emmerson said that the British government had already agreed to co-operate with the investigation and that he was “optimistic” that the US would do the same.
He also requested the US to release “before and after” videos of the drone strikes and internal reports of those killed, including civilians.
Of course our only statement to the UN should be short, very short. I am think two words long, care to guess which two words? Here is a hint the first words starts with a big fat “F”. Again, let this serve as a reminder that Leftists are a threat to everything that makes America free and strong. You might be feeling like you were kicked in the groin ever since election day. Well shake it off. Politics are cyclical, and do not even think of packing it is, we have too much to lose, including our opportunity to retake and rebuild our republic that the Founders gave us.
Via Donald Douglas This shows clearly that some people do not belong in a y position of authority
Candy ass, he should keep walking if he does not believe in the right of self-defense. And let me, and Michelle Malkin remind you all how much the Left hates your guns, and YES, they are definitely looking to confiscate your guns

A teenage girl was beheaded by a relative in northern Afghanistan after she turned down his marriage proposals, according to reports.
The victim, named as Gisa, was decapitated with a knife in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province on Tuesday, local police said. She is believed to be around 15-years-old.
A police spokesman said two men, named as Sadeq and Massoud, had been arrested following the teenage girl’s murder.
The two men are understood to be close relatives of the victim that live in the same village.
Local police sources have said the men behind the attack wanted to marry the girl, but their advances had been turned down by victim’s father.
Gisa is understood to have been attacked as she returned to her home in Kulkul village after going out to collect water from a nearby well.
Her father told a local news agency he had not wanted his daughter to get married because she was too young.
Afghanistan’s Taliban regime – notorious for its oppression of women in the country – was ousted in 2001, but extreme violence against women is still rife.
In 2009 the Elimination of Violence Against Woman law was introduced in Afghanistan, criminalising child marriage, forced marriage, ‘giving away’ a girl or woman to settle a dispute, among other acts of violence against the female population of the ultra-conservative Islamic nation.
But the UN has said there is a ‘long way to go’ before the rights of Afghan women are fully protected.
Comprehensive official statistics on the number of incidents of violence against women in the country are difficult to establish, with the majority of cases going unreported. However in the year to March 2011, Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission registered over 2,000 acts of violence against women.
The NATO-led International Security and Assistance Force has given high priority to re-establishing women’s rights that were eradicated under the Taliban as part of its efforts to create a security strategy for Afghanistan.
But with the deadline for international troops to pull out of the country – scheduled for the end of 2014 – looming, activists have warned that the outlook for the female population remains bleak.
Human Rights Watch has said women’s rights are increasingly at risk in the run up to the scheduled draw-down of NATO forces, with early and forced marriage, impunity for violence against women and lack of access of justice among the long list of challenges they still face.
While Afghan women have won back some basic rights since the Taliban was toppled 11 years ago, so-called honour killings remain relatively commonplace in the war-torn Islamic nation.
This year the country’s Independent Human Rights Commission recorded 16 incidents of honour killings in March and April alone, the first two months of the Afghan new year.
During the month of July a spate of brutal killings in the country – which left four women and two children dead – attracted international attention.
The Independent Human Rights Commission warned last month that Afghanistan has seen a sharp rise in cases of both honour killings and rape, adding that many incidents of murder and sexual assault go unreported to authorities.
The ever-present threat of violence at the hands of men in a patriarchal society has also led to an increase in cases of Afghan women taking their own lives.
Dozens of women commit suicide in the country each year, often to escape failed or abusive marriages.
Divorce is still taboo in Afghanistan, and women who flee their marriages, if caught, face stringent prison sentences.
A family court established in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, in 2003 offered a semblance of hope for women in the country that are trapped in forced marriages or subject to domestic violence – but it still adheres to Afghanistan’s version of Islamic sharia law.
Traditional Afghan culture places no onus on a man who wants to leave his spouse to go through legal proceedings – he can divorce his wife without any approval of the justice system. In the court in Kabul, a woman must plead her case before judges and lawyers, and she must have five male witnesses willing to attend in support.
A recent case saw a 17-year-old girl forced to accept a marriage proposal from a man she despised successfully argued for her engagement to be scrapped by the court, according to The Washington Post.
Tragically for Farima, who dreamed of becoming a doctor, the decision did not mark a return to the life of relative freedom she enjoyed before her engagement. Before taking her battle to the court, the desperate teenager had thrown herself from the roof of her Kabul home.
Farima broke her back in the fall, but survived. Her fiance insisted that their planned marriage must still go ahead, leading the now disabled teenager to take her battle to the family court.
Following the case, the 17-year-old is back in her childhood home. Her family did not allow her to return to school, and the injuries she sustained in her failed suicide bid mean relatives fear she will be unlikely to marry in the future. While she managed, against the odds, to free herself from a fate she dreaded, the future for this defiant Afghan girl still looks bleak.
And she is pulling no punches in regards to Islamists, Nice Deb has the story
Via Dan Riehl, who thinks “the suits” at CBS will be none too thrilled with correspondent, Lara Logan’s Keynote speech at the Better Government Association annual luncheon in Chicago, last week, after the call they’ll likely get from the Obama White House….
Laura Washington of the Chicago Sun-Times described her speech to the roughly 1,100 influentials from government, politics, media, and the legal and corporate arenas as “provocative”, “ominous and frightening”:
She arrived in Chicago on the heels of her Sept. 30 report, “The Longest War.” It examined the Afghanistan conflict and exposed the perils that still confront America, 11 years after 9/11.
Eleven years later, “they” still hate us, now more than ever, Logan told the crowd. The Taliban and al-Qaida have not been vanquished, she added. They’re coming back.
“I chose this subject because, one, I can’t stand, that there is a major lie being propagated . . .” Logan declared in her native South African accent.
The lie is that America’s military might has tamed the Taliban.
“There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years,” Logan said. It is driven in part by “Taliban apologists,” who claim “they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban,” she added sarcastically. “It’s such nonsense!”
Logan stepped way out of the “objective,” journalistic role. The audience was riveted as she told of plowing through reams of documents, and interviewing John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan; Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and a Taliban commander trained by al-Qaida. The Taliban and al-Qaida are teaming up and recruiting new terrorists to do us deadly harm, she reports.
Lots more at the link. This is an enemy that must be exterminated, you cannot eliminate them by waging a PC war. You must be brutal, and take every opportunity to strike them. And yes, you must be willing to use every weapon at your disposal.
William Teach wants to know, because it does seem that Obama is setting up a “peace in our time” moment!
The man is desperate to get some sort of political win in Afghanistan. Either that or he simply doesn’t understand, or care, that the Taliban is a hard core Islamist group bent on killing the infidel.
(Washington Post) The United States has for several years been secretly releasing high-level detainees from a military prison in Afghanistan as part of negotiations with insurgent groups, a bold effort to quell violence but one that U.S. officials acknowledge poses substantial risks.
No, the Obama admin has been releasing these people who are pretty anti-women.
But the releases are an inherent gamble: The freed detainees are often notorious fighters who would not be released under the traditional legal system for military prisoners in Afghanistan. They must promise to give up violence —and U.S. officials warn them that if they are caught attacking American troops, they will be detained once again.
Egads! How can he be this naive? And what type of warning is that? Teach gives us a great analogy
That reminds me of an old Robin Williams joke about British police carrying no guns, just nightsticks “Stop! Or I’ll yell stop again.” But, I’m sure the little Taliban darlings will simply give up there life of violence in the name of Allah and Mohammed and play with pretty unicorns they were given on release.
Oh but of course they will. Obama will just fill them up with Hope and Change………Good Freaking Grief!
