So when can we realistically expect that Obama Care website to work?

In only three more years, give or take apparently

Wait, did he say 2017?

“It may take until 2017. It will work really well then.”

– White House adviser David Plouffe, quoted by ABC News, on the implementation problems facing Obamacare.

Talk about setting low goals for the greatest legislation evah!

The Obama administration claimed victory Sunday for making HealthCare.gov workable for the vast majority of users, a standard that will be tested as millions of people flood the site in the next three weeks.

Sunday marked the passage of the administration’s self-imposed deadline for fixing the broken ObamaCare enrollment website, which serves consumers in 36 states.

The agency that oversees HealthCare.gov said “we believe we have met the goal” of making the system navigable for most people, but cautioned that more problems may lie ahead.

“Dramatic progress has been made,” the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) stated in a report released Sunday morning. “[But] there is more work to be done to continue to improve and enhance the website.”

The mixed message highlights the challenge facing the Obama administration as it seeks to ensure that millions can sign up for individual health plans online by the end of March.

ABC News Reports On Massive Chinese Traffic Jam… That Happened Three Years Ago

How Did ABC World News Mess Up This Report So Badly? – Mediaite

This might be one of the goofier examples of sloppy journalism in recent memory.

During ABC’s World News on Thursday evening, anchor Diane Sawyer read a quick story about a massive Chinese traffic jam just outside Beijing, reportedly “now entering its third week.” The traffic has come to such a standstill, Sawyer added, that truckers purchased noodle dishes from roadside villagers. Ultimately, the report concluded, the traffic will end around September 17th when the culprit – some major construction – is scheduled for completion.

So what’s wrong with that story? Well, there’s one big problem: That ridiculously large traffic jam happened three years ago.

How did that embarrassing mistake make it all the way to Sawyer’s mouth?

The only 2013-dated articles on this “traffic jam” appear on the India Times website and on The Daily Beast’s “Cheat Sheet” link dump. The former’s write-up says the traffic has been ongoing for only nine days, so clearly that’s not the source. And given the Beast’s popularity in America, this little blurb could be where ABC first spotted the story:

It seems as though the Beast mistook the story to be current, but later updated their link-out with a correction: “Editor’s note: The traffic jam described in this news summary occured [sic] in August 2010.”

So let’s assume an ABC producer found the story there, but saw it before the Beast updated to reflect the actual date. They would still have had to completely ignore the time and date on the actual CBC article containing many of the details Sawyer reported on air.

How, then, did ABC obtain the oddly-specific information about the jam having gone on for three weeks? Looks like they saw the reports (again, ignoring all the 2010 timestamps) and saw that the traffic began on August 14th. And hey, it’s September 5th. So that means it’s been going on almost three whole weeks!

And how did ABC find information about it expecting to end September 17? The biggest source for that is a Wall Street Journal article – again, from 2010 – that notes the 17th as the construction’s end date.

In other words: Reporting this story likely took a producer eyeing not one, but multiple articles. And somehow… missing… the time and date… on each… and every one of them.

Amazingly, ABC News itself actually covered the story when it first occurred.

Another question: Who obtained those photographs of the Chinese traffic jam without noticing they were from 2010?

Get ready for the Left to hold up this Zimmerman juror as a hero

Via The Blaze

In an interview with ABC News set to air Thursday, the woman, known only as “Maddy,” said everyone on the all-female jury felt Zimmerman was guilty, but that the evidence didn’t let them convict him.

“You can’t put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty,” Maddy said. “But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence.”

Note that she says there was not evidence to convict Zimmerman. That is something the media will no doubt completely ignore when they start blowing this out of proportion tomorrow. The media, and Liberal politicians will focus ONLY on the “we felt he was guilty” part of her interview. Odd it is that she says in the interview that she was the one dissenter against acquitting him

She revealed that she wanted to convict Zimmerman of second-degree murder, and “fought to the end” before finally voting to acquit.

“I was the juror that was going to give them the hung jury. I fought to the end,” she said.

But on the second day of deliberations, she said, she realized there wasn’t enough evidence to convict Zimmerman of second-degree murder or of manslaughter, which the jury was also allowed to consider.

So after sitting through the trial, and after two days of deliberations, THEN, she finally realized there was no evidence? Sorry that does not add up. Sounds to me, and this is only an opinion here, that she is trying to ingratiate herself with the Left here. Wonder how many times MSNBS will have her on?

Media whitewashes crazed ex-cop’s manifesto

Over at The Other McCain, Stacy notes this tidbit about Christopher Dorner’s and his manifesto

ABC News reports:

The rage-filled “manifesto” written by former police officer Christopher Dorner before he went on an alleged cop killing spree around the Los Angeles area was dismissed by the head of the Los Angeles Police Department today as “self-serving” and “ramblings on the Internet.”

Well of course it is “self-serving” and rambling, manifestos are rambling, incoherent and self-serving, If you do not believe me, read the Communist Manifesto sometime, talk about Cukoo for Cocoa Puffs! But, the real story is not what the LAPD is pointing out. The real story is that the media is downplaying, completely ignoring this nuts manifesto.

Indeed. The major media have tried to suppress the ugly truth about Chris Dorner’s motives and ideology by publishing a truncated version of his Facebook “manifesto” that omits the evidence that this mass murderer is, in fact, a liberal Democrat. Sooper Mexican got hold of the entire manifesto that makes the truth obvious enough:

No more Virginia Tech, Columbine HS, Wisconsin temple, Aurora theatre, Portland malls, Tucson rally, Newtown Sandy Hook. Whether by executive order or thru a bi-partisan congress an assault weapons ban needs to be re-instituted. Period!!!
Mia Farrow said it best. “Gun control is no longer debatable, it’s not a conversation, its a moral mandate.”
Sen. Feinstein, you are doing the right thing in leading the re-institution of a national [assault weapons ban]. Never again should any public official state that their prayers and thoughts are with the family. That has become cliche’ and meaningless. Its time for action.

Well, how about that? pretty strange isn’t it? I mean here is a guy, OK a nutcase with a rambling manifesto, who abhors mass shootings and “assault weapons”. And to show how much he cares about the victims of gun violence, he is shooting people! that, my friends is grade-A crazy! Of course, Dorner also shows another sure sign of certified lunacy by praising Dianne Feinstein, and Mia Farrow.

“Mia Farrow said it best” — yeah, that’s the kind of sentence that practically screams “diminished mental capacity.”

“Sen. Feinstein, you are doing the right thing” — another telltale clue that we are dealing with a deranged mind.

So, what if the killer had a manifesto that even used the words Tea Party? What if he, in any way, mentioned Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, or any Conservative blog? Would the media be ignoring that as unimportant? Yeah, I know, silly question. And of course, you David Frum would be Tweeting like a mofo ripping gun owners, and trying to stay relevant.

Dysfunctional Family Syndrome

Why are some families so, how should I out this, screwed up? The Other McCain has a story about parents that shelled out tens of thousands of bucks, to send their only child, a 21-year-old girl to college. A daughter they have driven, or who drove herself to get a restraining order against them! Good grief!

The “helicopter parent” syndrome carried to an absurd extreme:

A 21-year-old theatre student has obtained a civil stalking restraining order against her parents after convincing a judge that they attempt to control all aspects of her daily life.
Aubrey Ireland is a gifted theatre major at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, often winning major roles in her school’s musicals. . . . Earlier this month, Common Pleas Court Judge Jody Luebbers ruled in her favor, ordering that her parents must stay at least 500 feet from their only child until September 2013.
“They basically thought that [because] they were paying for my college tuition and living expenses that they could tell me what to do, who to hang out with … basically control all of my daily life,” Ireland told ABC News.

Well, if they are shelling out that much cash… But, maybe the parents are a bit wacko, read this

The dean’s list student’s complaints against her parents began when she realized they’d installed monitoring software on her computer and her phone. They paid unannounced visits, traveling 600 miles from their home in Kansas, to meet with Aubrey’s department head.
They also accused their daughter of promiscuity, doing drugs, and having mental issues to the point where they were considering going to court to order that she get treatment.

Look, I know what it is like to have a family member worry you with behavior, and I put some grey hair on my parents, a fact of which I am ashamed,  but monitoring software? There are serious trust issues here. Are they deserved?

“My mom has always been very overly involved,”Ireland said. “I would have to get on Skype all the time to show them that I was in my dorm room, or there werenights I had to leave my Skype on all night and my mom would watch me basically sleep.”
She claims her parents, David and Julie Ireland, have been diagnosed with co-dependency disorder. Her parents, however, say their daughter is just a good actor, and is lying. They said she is “an only child who has been catered to all her life.”

OK, sounds like her parents are NUTTY! Like a fruit cake nutty! Oh and by they way they are now demanding their money back!

Veteran ABC News Reporter Sam Donaldson Arrested For DUI

Veteran ABC News Reporter Sam Donaldson Arrested For DUI – Daily Caller

Veteran ABC News reporter Sam Donaldson, 78, was arrested for driving under the influence in Lewes, Del. on Dec. 1, local WGMD radio reports.

The former ABC White House correspondent was pulled over for a traffic violation when Lewes police suspected he had been drinking. Donaldson failed the field sobriety test and was arrested for a DUI, and will appear in court early next year.

Donaldson has been with ABC News since 1967 for the network’s Washington bureau. He later became the White House correspondent, and then anchored ABC Sunday Evening News for a decade.

He co-anchored “This Week” with Cokie Roberts from 1996 to 2002, and now serves as a frequent panelist.

Donaldson has a reputation for his feisty reporting style and his famous confrontation with President George W. Bush in 2006. After actor Mel Gibson went on his first reported anti-semitic tirade (during a DUI arrest, no less), Donaldson asked the president if he thought Gibson should be forgiven.

Bush looked to see who answered the question and said, “You’re a has-been. We don’t have to answer has-been’s questions,” the Washington Post reported at the time.

Donaldson shot back, “Better to have been a has-been than a never was.”

ABC News Employees In Chicago Ignore Black Anti-Obama Protest Right Outside Their Studio Window (Video)

Black Grassroots Activists Protest Obama Fundraiser, City Hall, ABC News In Chicago – Breitbart

Thursday evening in Chicago, black grassroots activists fed up with manipulation of their suffering by city leadership turned out to protest a fundraiser for President Obama held by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Speaker of the General Assembly Michael Madigan.

According to the protesters, Emanuel, Madigan, and Obama pretend to try to help their community but do nothing to curb the funneling of money and contracts to corrupt community organizations and union-controlled worksites that won’t hire black labor.

The protest began in the lobby of the building where the fundraiser took place and proceeded with a march past City Hall, ending up in front of the ABC 7 News studio on State Street.

………………………Click on image above to watch video.

According to Mark Carter of the Broke Party, a newly formed group of black grassroots activists fed up with the destruction and blight brought on their community by the liberal agenda, the protest was “about bringing attention to the demolition of homes in Chicago’s black communities on the west and south sides.” These buildings, Carter says, “can still be saved, but the city is tearing them down,” leaving property values and the community in the gutter.

Carter told Breitbart News they chose the Obama fundraiser as the starting point for the protest in order to send a direct message to Rahm Emanuel and Washington, D.C. that they will not be voting on Tuesday for those politicians who are allowing their homes and community to be demolished.

In an effort to bring even further attention to the ongoing issues of the black community in Chicago, the protest ended up outside of ABC 7 News’s local broadcast studio on State Street. This studio can be viewed from the street and sidewalk. When the protesters arrived, they used a bullhorn to announce themselves and called on weather reporter Jerry Taft, seen through the window, not to pretend they weren’t there, prompting a wave from Taft to the protesters.

The protesters waved anti-union signs, anti-NAACP, anti-Rainbow Push, and signs reading “Rahm Hates Black People” in front of the studio as Kathy Brock and Alan Krashesky broadcasted the evening news. They demanded their voices be heard and criticized Emanuel for acting in cahoots with community-organizing front groups ACORN and ACTION Now to put properties in the community into the organizations’ hands. These actions by the Mayor and the corrupt “Chicago Machine” have ensured that construction work only goes to the unions, effectively keeping the residents of the community unemployed.

J.R. Fleming, another protester, declared that these community groups “do not represent the interests” of their communities or of black leaders in their communities. Fleming continued:

We want to work in our communities, we want to train the young boys and girls on the block… they need jobs and opportunity… we demand the mayor of the city of Chicago respect us, respect our community and allow us to work in our own neighborhoods… We are not asking for your money… It’s clear to us you ain’t gonna house us, it’s clear to us you ain’t gonna put us to work, so it’s clear to us that we must do this ourselves.

A real estate investor who was part of the protest told Breitbart News that he has been prevented from doing business in his own community. According to him, he wants to purchase several properties, but the city has been ignoring his potential investment – and local community leaders’ advice – instead picking and choosing buildings to tear down, at the recommendation of the Chicago Police Department. These buildings, according to the investor, are ones “that could be rehabbed.”

This was the plan Mayor Rahm Emanuel implemented earlier this year in an effort “to prevent crime and lower the murder rate,” but it instead appears to circumvent the community members’ potential to add value and help craft their own community’s future. As these residents said, “buildings don’t kill people, criminals do.”

Paul McKinley, another activist from the black community, points to all of these issues as reasons why the unemployment rate continues to increase in the black community. While Friday’s jobs report indicates the black unemployment rate has risen to 14 percent, McKinley flat-out rejects that claim and points to a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee study that shows the black unemployment in 2010 for black males between 16-64 was 54.1 percent – a figure McKinley believes is only worse now.

McKinley said, “the media won’t cover our issues” and that they are allowing the city to continue the destruction of their community through gentrification. This, he belives, is part of the liberal agenda and is by design. Other activists at the protest chastised ABC 7 News as a “racist-liberal” news outlet that is just a “mouthpiece for Rahm Emanuel.”

Despite a significant news event occurring on their very doorstep, ABC 7’s Brock and Krashesky fled the newsroom and ignored the activity from the peaceful grassroots protesters outside. ABC 7 failed to send even one cameraman or reporter to investigate the protest and see what was going on.

*VIDEO* Glenn Beck: Is Brian Ross Of ABC News A Murderer And / Or Child Sex Offender?

The very latest on Brett Kimberlin, Neal Rauhauser, and their house of cards

Stacy McCain has the latest Including the increased attention Congress is paying to this war of free speech

Seventy members of the House of Representatives are reportedly prepared to unite in support of Senator Saxby Chambliss’s call for a Justice Department investigation of the “SWATtings” against Mike Stack, Patrick Frey and Erick Erickson.

Great start, even if our Justice Department is currently headed by Eric Holder.

There is also reportedly interest among Republicans in Congress about the “lawfare” aspect of the Kimberlin case, along the lines of what Ace of Spades talked about Friday: Legislation to prevent a convicted felon from using claims of “harassment” to intimidate people who are guilty of nothing but telling the truth about his criminal past.

A very good step if it can be made into law. On its face you would think it would get bi-partisan support, but, given ho wafr Leftwards Democrats have drifted….

Beginning with his lawsuit against Seth Allen in October 2010, Kimberlin and his allies have used this strategy in a number of variations. In some cases, as with Allen and Aaron Walker, legal action seemed chiefly intended to get behind the online aliases of those who were publicizing Kimberlin’s heinous history.

Allen used the pseudonyms “Socrates” and “Prespostericity,” while Walker was known as “Aaron Walker” in the blogosphere. Once the actual human beings behind those aliases were discovered — I believe the colloquial term for this is “patched” — then Kimberlin and his surrogates could mount personal attacks against these online critics. This could happen two ways: Either by using negative personal information about the critics in an effort to discredit them, or else by contacting the critics’ employer (or, in the case of Walker, their spouse’s employer) to claim that the critic was engaged in wrongful activity by blogging about Kimberlin’s criminality.

The success of Kimberlin in employing this tactic shows one reason, by the way, why using online aliases creates a vulnerability for anyone engaged in what we might call “combat blogging.” There is no such thing as a pseudonym that is totally secure. You may think that your online alias protects your private life, but if you ever get into heavy-duty blogwars — giving an antagonist a motive for wanting to know who you really are – your privacy becomes a weakness.

When I started blogging, I chose to use GatorDoug, but never his my name, I even blogged using my real name on other blogs. I never thought, at the time, if it might have legal implications, but, I think I made the right call.

Brett Kimberlin is a liar. He lies to reporters. He lies under oath in court. His apparent compulsive lying is one of the great constants of Kimberlin’s life, going back to when he was convicted of perjury as a teenager.Patterico calls attention to how blatantly Kimberlin lies:

[Kimberlin said] that he does not maintain any online presence and said he and his family have been victims of threats themselves and accused the bloggers of constructing a “false narrative” about him.
“I don’t blog, I don’t comment, I don’t tweet on any blogs at all. This is a right-wing attack on me and my organizations and it’s a smear job. It’s a swift boat action against us,” Kimberlin said.
– Arlette Saenz, ABC News, June 6

“[I]t’s part of my job to, to work on the Internet because it’s basically a social networking job and so I get Google alerts all the time mentioning my my organizations . . .”
– Brett Kimberlin, in Montgomery County court hearing vs. Aaron Walker, May 29

These two statements seem incompatible. If Kimberlin is “on the Internet” doing “a social networking job,” how is it that he never uses Twitter or writes on blogs? With whom does he network on the Internet, and how does he do it without using the most common tools for online social networking?

Pretty inane lie by Kimberlin there. He is a liar, Stacy will, I am sure be updating so check back here AND at The Other McCain

Take a gander at who has entered the Brett Kimberlin fray

More on that headline in a  moment but first, some other developments worth noting

Da Tech Guy notes that the dam might be breaking in on poor Brett

Since May 17th when Aaron Worthing first went public about his encounters with Brett Kimberlin & company and Robert Stacy McCain followed up that same day with the first of what is now dozens of posts on the subject the question arose when the media would take notice while others paid the price for defending their first amendment rights.

Even as bloggers took over Memeorandum, Patterico went public on his Swatting, Glenn Beck took noticeAaron Worthing was jailed and Erick Erickson of Red State & CNN was swatted the media remained silent.

Well now there has been a development that can’t be ignored:

Today, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder regarding recent reports that several conservative political commentators have been targeted with harassing and frightening actions. Chambliss demanded that Holder examine these cases to determine if federal laws have been violated.

These dangerous hoaxes, also known as “SWAT-ting,” occur when a perpetrator contacts local police to report a violent incident at a target’s home. These callers are believed to utilize voice-over IP (VOIP) and other less-traditional telecommunications methods to make the call appear to come from the target residence and to hide the caller’s true identity.

Yup that’s US senator Saxby Chambliss contacting the Justice Department on the Swatting issue, and while the MSM might have ignored bloggers this is a different kettle of fish to wit:

ABC News spoke with two prominent conservative bloggers who were victims of SWAT-ting, a hoax tactic used by some hackers to infiltrate a victim’s phone system, often through voice over IP (VOIP) technology to make calls appear as if they are coming from a residence. The perpetrators call police to report a violent crime at that home to which the police respond, sometimes with SWAT teams.

and yup again, that’s ABC news (and amazingly someone other than Jake Tapper) writing about the story of bloggers getting SWATTED (yes CNN you’ve been scooped on your own story again!)

Now, the BIG news! And it is bad for whoever is SWATting, or harrassing, or threatening Conservative bloggers. In fact it is VERY BAD! Stacy McCain has the news via Michelle Malkin The ACLJ has stepped up to defend Ali Akbar

I’ve been telling you about First Amendment lawyers working behind the scenes to help the targets of Brett Kimberlin and his online cabal.

Kudos to the ACLJ for stepping up to the plate in the face of ongoing threats and smears. Just released:

(Washington, DC) – The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which focuses on constitutional law, announced today it is providing legal representation to a top conservative blogger and his organization that represents hundreds of bloggers who are facing threats and intimidation tactics by those opposed to their viewpoint.

“Free speech is under attack,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. “Conservative writers are now facing threats against themselves, their families, and their livelihoods merely because they’ve aggressively investigated the history and funding of radical liberals. The ACLJ has a long history of successfully defending free speech, and we look forward to defeating this latest attempt to threaten and intimidate conservatives into silence.”

The issue involves targeting a number of conservative bloggers with a dangerous and illegal tactic that’s become known as SWAT-ing (making false 911 calls sending police to the homes of bloggers, claiming a crime has occurred.) The tactic is used in retaliation for posts the conservative bloggers have written.

The ACLJ is representing Ali Akbar, a top blogger and president of the National Bloggers Club, a coalition of 300 conservative bloggers who reach millions of readers. Akbar has seen his mother’s home photographed and placed on the internet. He has also received formal notification that he may soon be sued for publishing truthful information about radical liberals and their wealthy donors.

“I’m grateful for the support of the ACLJ, and I’m confident we’ll defeat any and all legal challenges to our fundamental right to free speech,” said Akbar. “We will not be deterred in our quest for the truth.”

The ACLJ will aggressively defend the constitutionally-protected free speech rights of Akbar and his organizations.

The ACLJ’s representation of Akbar comes as Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) is calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the SWAT-ting cases to see if federal laws have been violated. In a letter to the Attorney General, Sen. Chambliss wrote: “Any potentially criminal action that incites fear, seeks to silence a dissenting opinion, and collaterally wastes the resources of law enforcement should be given close scrutiny at all levels. . . Regardless of any potential political differences that may exist, threats and intimidation have no place in our national political discourse.”

That is big! The ACLJ gets it done in the court room

Cops, Witnesses Back Up George Zimmerman’s Version – ABC News

Two police reports written the night that George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin said that Zimmerman had a bloody face and it looked like his nose was broken. Two witnesses appear to back up Zimmerman’s version of being on his back and beaten by Martin.

Notice how the media is still playing the  Zimmerman is guilty angle. The report repeats that Martin was “unarmed” several times. They just cannot help themselves. ABC News also reports that Martin had THC in his system.

The teen, who lived in Miami, was in Sanford while serving a suspension for a bag of marijuana being discovered in his possession. Martin had THC, the drug found in marijuana, in his blood on the night of his death, according to the autopsy. His family told ABC News that it was “trace amounts” of THC.

Medical evidence supports George Zimmerman’s testimony, Al Sharpton hardest hit

Via Sister Toldjah

First, from ABC News:

A medical report compiled by the family physician of accused Trayvon Martin murderer George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an alleged altercation.

The morning after the shooting, on Feb. 27, Zimmerman sought treatment at the offices of a general physician at a family practice near Sanford, Fla. The doctor notes Zimmerman sought an appointment to get legal clearance to return to work.

The record shows that Zimmerman also suffered bruising in the upper lip and cheek and lower back pain. The two lacerations on the back of his head, one of them nearly an inch long, the other about a quarter-inch long, were first revealed in photos obtained exclusively by ABC News last month.

But the report also shows Zimmerman declined hospitalization the night of the shooting, and then declined the advice of his doctor to make a follow-up appointment with an ear nose and throat doctor.

And from Orlando’s WFTV:

SANFORD, Fla. — WFTV has confirmed that autopsy results show 17-year-old Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles when he died.

The information could support George Zimmerman’s claim that Martin beat him up before Zimmerman shot and killed him.

The autopsy results come as Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara continues to go over other evidence in the case.

O’Mara wouldn’t comment on the autopsy evidence, but WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said it’s better for the defense than it is for the prosecution.

WFTV has learned that the medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: The fatal gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.

When you compare Trayvon’s non-fatal injury with Zimmerman’s bloody head wounds, the autopsy evidence is better for the defense, Sheaffer said.

“It goes along with Zimmerman’s story that he acted in self-defense, because he was getting beaten up by Trayvon Martin,” Sheaffer said.

The injury to Martin’s knuckle also fits with Zimmerman’s story that before he shot and killed Martin, Martin had broken his nose and knocked him to the ground, slamming his head on the sidewalk.

But Sheaffer said there could be another explanation for Martin’s knuckle injury.

“It could be consistent with Trayvon either trying to get away or defend himself,” Sheaffer said.

MSNBS will be devastated, and I cannot wait to see how those weasels spin this.

What is the difference between Swiss Cheese and the Washington Post 5,000 word hit piece on Mitt Romney?

Lots more holes in the Post piece! Stacy McCain has LOTS more. Some GREAT aggregating going on at The Other McCain

Three recent headlines in the URGENT BREAKING SCANDAL:

Actually, I wasn’t present during the prank

Sister of Alleged Romney Target Has
‘No Knowledge’ of Any Bullying Incident

– ABC News

A question emerges in reading
the Washington Post piece …

– Daily Caller

Of course, this URGENT BREAKING SCANDAL involves incidents that allegedly happened nearly half a century ago, so those sneaky Republicans have a had a long time to cover it up.

Certainly the latter-day Woodwards and Bernsteins at the Washington Post will have their work cut out for them.

UPDATE: When I say they “have their work cut out for them,” I mean they’re already trying to change their story as it falls apart.

The changes have been noted by so-called “bloggers” like Brian Cates:

Washington Post Caught
Making Sh!t Up Again

Of course, there are no so-called “bloggers” on the Pulitzer Prize committee, which is composed entirely of respected professional journalists like Stephen GlassJayson BlairDan Rather . . .

UPDATE II: Dana Loesch wonders why the Washington Post didn’t alert its readers to the changes in its 5,000-word investigative report.Probably because of budget constraints:

The Washington Post Co. reported its first-quarter earnings on Friday, and the news coming out of the newspaper division was mostly grim. The unit lost $22.6 million in the quarter, with revenue down 8% and revenue from print advertising specifically falling 17%.  . . .
[T]he paper has lost top talent lately, including James Grimaldi, who took a buyout and is heading to The Wall Street Journal. With his departure, the Post will have lost all three reporters who won its 2006 Pulitzer for their coverage of the Jack Abramoff scandal. The paper also shut out of the 2012 Pulitzers and weathered a blogger embarrassment that revealed its BlogPost operation to be a mini sweatshop.

The Washington Post can afford to assign a reporter to do a 5,000-word investigative report on a Republican’s high-school activities, but they can’t afford to let their readers know that they’re “making sh!t up” again. Because credibility is kinda expensive . . .

UPDATE III: Reading Ben Shapiro’s examination of the Washington Post story, my brain exploded when this part sunk in:

Sometime in the mid-1990s, David Seed noticed a familiar face at the end of a bar at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
“Hey, you’re John Lauber,” Seed recalled saying at the start of a brief conversation. Seed, also among those who witnessed the Romney-led incident, had gone on to a career as a teacher and principal. Now he had something to get off his chest.
“I’m sorry that I didn’t do more to help in the situation,” he said.
Lauber paused, then responded, “It was horrible.” He went on to explain how frightened he was during the incident, and acknowledged to Seed, “It’s something I have thought about a lot since then.”
Lauber died in 2004, according to his three sisters.

By God, you can’t do that in journalism: You cannot base a key element of a story — in this case, the claim that Romney’s bullying left Lauber emotionally traumatized for life — on a quote from the deceased “victim” attributed to him based on an (alleged) private conversation. Lauber isn’t around to verify or dispute the accuracy of Seed’s account, and therefore it is unethical to include the “quotes” that Seed attributes to Lauber.

LOTS, LOTS, LOTS more on this over at Mr. McCain’s blog. Apparently even Morning Joe is skeptical over the timing of this hatchet job, and Jason Horowitz unemployment is paging you

Da Tech Guy senses a purposeful distraction. Bryan Preston at PJMediadoesn’t believe the timing of the WaPo article was entirely coincidental:

Horowitz has some explaining to do, and so do his editors. Did he fabricate any part of the story and implant it with Mitt’s school friends? Did he work on the timing of the story’s release with anyone in the Obama campaign?

You can also read what I wrote yesterday

Now, I have no idea as to the veracity of these “witnesses” nor do I have any what actually happened. What I do know, however, is that you have a media that is in the tank for Obama, running a story of massive size, over a high school prank? And one, it must be noted again, that fits in absolutely perfectly with the bullying/Gay marriage stories currently making headlines.

Not to be brash, but it seems pretty obvious that the Post ran this story when they did to hurt Romney, and help Obama. They were sitting on this, until the “right time”.

Ed had more today on the non-story story

Just think what The Washington Post could find if they actually vetted Obama’s past?

Of course, that would be silly. Why would a newspaper ever take a good long look at a president, or a presidential candidate anyway? Unless that candidate was Mitt Romney of course. And what dirt has the post dug up? What heinous crimes did Mitt commit? Did he attend a radical, racist church with a crackpot reverend for nearly 20 years? Did he have close ties with unrepentent terrorists? No, nothing unimportant like that. No, according to Stacy McCain, Romney might have been involved in some really dire stuff. Something like Watergate, but more hairy . We will call this scissorgate!

John Lauber, a soft-spoken new student one year behind Romney, was perpetually teased for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality. Now he was walking around the all-boys school with bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye, and Romney wasn’t having it.

“He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” an incensed Romney told Matthew Friedemann, his close friend in the Stevens Hall dorm, according to Friedemann’s recollection. Mitt, the teenaged son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, kept complaining about Lauber’s look, Friedemann recalled.

A few days later, Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair. Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors.

If this did happen, like it was described, then it was not a nice thing to do, but, something stinks here, and Stacy McCain, who knows the newspaper business sheds some light on this.

UPDATE: Question the timing, you say?

Funny how this appears one day after Obama’s forced-by-my-daughters’-emotions evolutionary announcement of support for same-sex “marriage.”

A Shermanesque statement from Professor Jacobson:

I once participated in a group which gave someone a wedgie when I was at summer camp in the 1960s. That’s why I’ll never run for President, my record is stained.

Dang it — another possible GOP contender fails the media vetting. At this rate, I’ll never get that ambassadorship to Vanuatu.

UPDATE II: These paranoid conspiracy theorists are everywhere!

Some critics saw the timing as evidence of media bias, suggesting that the motive had to do with making Romney look intolerant just as Obama had voiced his support for same-sex marriage.
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade, interviewing Romney on his radio show a few hours after the story landed online, said that since “everyone’s talking about same-sex marriage and tolerance and unions and what do you stand for, it’s amazing the timing of this Washington Post story … would seem to me it was somewhere shrink-wrapped, waiting to be unwrapped at the right time and this was the right time.”

Indeed. To report a story like that — to track down and interview somebody’s high-school classmates from a half-century ago — must have taken many weeks, if not months. The writing and editing of a 5,000-word story is not easy work. If you cranked out a thousand words a day (quite a rigorous pace, for original reporting), that’s a full week just to write the story, once you’d done all the interviews.

So, yeah, maybe they had it “shrink-wrapped,” ready to go.

Yes, McCain points out how much work goes into a 5,000 word report like this one. And look how it does tie in just perfectly with Obama’s “evolution”. Ah, but, 5,000 words is a lot to commit to a story that happened nearly 50 years ago. And perhaps the Post made some factual errors?

In a feature article published this morning, theWashington Post wrote the following about Stu White, a high school friend and classmate of Mitt Romney’s, in reference to an alleged 1965 bullying incident involving of a fellow classmate: [emphasis added]

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident.

Today, however, in an interview with ABC News, the same Stu White completely contradicts the Washington Post story:

While the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.

Because Mr. White had not been aware of the incident until this year, it was inaccurate and misleading for the Washington Post to report he had “long been bothered” by the incident

What do race pimps do once the race pimpin is done?

They leave the mess they created, and find other tragedies to exploit!

On Easter Sunday the Rev. Al Sharpton, an MSNBC host, broke a major promise he made to those supporting him and the family of slain teenager Trayvon Martin: He didn’t show up in Sanford, Fla., to “occupy” the town.

On March 26 Sharpton vowed to “occupy” Sanford over Easter weekend to show support for Trayvon, the 17-year-old black teen who was shot by Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman on Feb. 26.

“We’re going to have a full blown occupation of Sanford with tents and everything over Easter weekend until [authorities] either arrest George Zimmerman, or arrest us for praying for his arrest,” Sharpton told ABC News about two weeks before Easter.

On Easter weekend, however, Sharpton is nowhere to be found in the central Florida town. Instead, according to his Twitter feed, he’s in Harlem.

New surveillance tape of George Zimmerman being taken in for questioning

Via American Power

There’s lots of reporting at CNN.

Anderson Cooper had on former L.A. ADA Marcia Clark. She was highly skeptical that Treyvon Martin attacked George Zimmerman. She argued that Zimmerman didn’t look shaken up, he didn’t look like someone who had been attacked.

The full story’s an ABC News exclusive, “Trayvon Martin Video Shows No Blood or Bruises on George Zimmerman.”

The initial police report noted that Zimmerman was bleeding from the back of the head and nose, and after medical attention it was decided that he was in good enough condition to travel in a police cruiser to the Sanford, Fla., police station for questioning.

His lawyer later insisted that Zimmerman’s nose had been broken in his scuffle with 17-year-old Martin.

In the video an officer is seen pausing to look at the back of Zimmerman’s head, but no abrasions or blood can be seen in the video and he did not check into the emergency room following the police questioning.

My first thought on this is that I thought Zimmerman was never taken into custody, or even questioned the night of the killing, at least that has been the claim by the Left. Clearly this tape proves otherwise.

You really cannot see very much on this clip frankly. Some will jump on this and say that Zimmerman appears to be unscathed, but, he was treated by EMT’s at the scene of the shooting, so any reasonable person would assume that any blood would be gone 90 minutes after Zimmerman was treated. It is not like they would just leave him bleeding. The Daily Caller has more, including enhanced photos from the video in question

Surveillance video of George Zimmerman arriving at a Sanford, Fla. police station indicates what may be an injury to the back of his head, a Daily Caller analysis shows.

ABC News published the video Wednesday evening. Zimmerman is the man who shot and killed 17-year-old black teen Trayvon Martin a month ago. (RELATED: Full coverage of the Martin shooting)

“A police surveillance video taken the night that Trayvon Martin was shot dead shows no blood or bruises on George Zimmerman,” ABC News reporter Matt Gutman wrote, noting that Zimmerman told police “he shot Martin after he was punched in the nose, knocked down and had his head slammed into the ground.”

ABC News reported that Zimmerman appears uninjured in the video. But a still image from the video indicates what appears to be a vertical laceration or scar several inches long.

ABC did note that at the 49-second mark in the video, one of the police officers accompanying Zimmerman stops to look at the back of Zimmerman’s head for several seconds. Zimmerman, as ABC News noted, did not visit the emergency room after police interviewed him.

Frankly, you really cannot tell a whole lot from the still images either. Again, it is not as if the EMT’s would leave Zimmerman bleeding or with a gash in his head. People will, for the most part see what they want to see ion the video, and in the stills. This is not a “smoking gun” for either side. Sadly, the thing that is most needed, patience, is not going to be allowed by the race pimps

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla) says in the interview that she is trying to calm things down yet she is doing the exact opposite by making this case about race without all the facts, calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman and then spewing such heated rhetoric in saying that Trayvon was hunted down like a rabid dog and shot in the street. Again, no one has all the facts yet.

Again, forget about justice or facts, or evidence, the Left is not going to allow that to happen, as Jeff Goldstein points out there is a tragedy to exploit for political gain and Democrats cannot resist. Nor can they resist, apparently playing the second favorite game, blame Republicans.

Yes. Republicans. It is they who are ‘politicizing’ Martin’s death — they who are organizing marches, they who are putting out bounties, they who are selling hoodies and t-shirts, they who have scheduled mock Congressional briefings, they who used the bully pulpit to call for a national soul-searching because we’re somehow collectively complicit in a young man being shot to death while beating a neighborhood watch captain in Florida. Republicans. It is they who have blamed violence on freedom fetishists, they who have sought to turn the case into a call for federal review of state gun laws, they who stood before the nation and noted that, had they a son, he would have looked like Trayvon, while failing to show any public concern over the death of Brian Terry. It is they who have taken a local case, turned it intentionally into a national story, stoked racial animus, and are trying to orchestrate a lynch mob from the halls of Congress – all while ignoring due process.

Is there any low the Left will not stoop to? Of course not! They are about one thing, POWER! And they will do just about anything to get it. The Race Card? Whip it out!

White Hispanic.” That’s how the New York Times, Reuters, and other media outlets have opted to describe George Zimmerman, a man who would simply be Hispanic if he hadn’t shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The term, rarely if ever used before this tragedy, is necessary in telling the Martin story in a more comfortable way.

What’s the comfortable way? It’s the way the blame for Martin’s death belongs squarely at the feet of “the system.” And “the system” is a white thing, don’t you know?

For instance, in a remarkably uncritical interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Reverend Jesse Jackson explained that with the election of President Obama, “there was this feeling that we were kind of beyond racism.” He continued: “That’s not true. His victory has triggered tremendous backlash.” Indeed, “blacks are under attack.”

Go read the entire piece, and be disgusted by the shameful tactics of the Left. Sadly this is not new, nor will this time be the last time the race pimps do this, Daniel Greenberg touches on the Left’s use, and abuse of the Race Card

The Trayvon Martin case is a wholly familiar one to residents of any major urban city. If you live in Chicago, New York or Los Angeles, then it’s only a matter of time until an incident between a law enforcement officer, or more rarely a civilian defending himself, and a member of a minority group flares up into a citywide grievance theater complete with angry reverends on the steps of City Hall, women with stony faces holding up banners calling for justice and a media driven debate about police tactics and racism.

This sort of thing happens with depressing regularity in cities where even the most liberal residents have to choose between police overreach and being murdered. It never leads to meaningful debate or a resolution, instead it peters out with the best actors in the grievance theater picking up money and influence, the media selling a few more papers or ads for nasal polyp relief on the drive time news and everything going back to the way it was.

The grievance theater is never really about the specific case, the specific shooting, it’s about the links between the social problems of the black community, the compromises of civil liberties necessary to keep entire cities from turning into Detroit and the inability of the media to address the sources of crime as anything but the phantoms of white racism. It’s about a black leadership that is more interested in posturing as angry activists and shaking loose some money, than in healing their own community’s problems. And so the same story repeats itself again and again without an honest dialogue or anything meaningful coming out of it.

But grievance theater has been going national. It’s no longer just extraordinary cases like Bernie Goetz’s Death Wish moment on the number 2 train that briefly catch hold of the national conversation. The obsessive coverage of the so-called Jena 6 case, an incident of so little internal meaning, signaled that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would no longer just be able to drive a local controversy, they now had the freedom to drive national controversies any time they wanted to.

Trayvon Martin is their big moment. It’s no longer just grievance theater being used to influence the political fortunes of a municipal election, the way that Howard Beach was used to bring down Mayor Koch and replace him with the execrable David Dinkins. Now it’s being used as part of a presidential campaign on a national level.

The fortunes of too many black politicians have been tied to white guilt and black rage. The worst sort of black politician channels black rage to score points with black supporters while playing on the guilt of white voters, promising to heal the social conditions that bring about that anger and protect them from its ravages. But never before has that game been played out of the Oval Office.

The last two Democratic presidents were Southern governors, but the current occupant is a veteran of the corrupt urban political machine where there are only two games in town and when the money runs out, this is the one you play. The money is running out, the polls are running down and accordingly we have been treated to an episode of grievance theater, with our beloved leader in the role of healer and inciter.

Powerful piece, be sure to read the whole thing. Again, this is about power, nothing more. The tragic fact is that the BIGGEST issue facing minorities in America is the influence these race pimps yield.

The end of Newt? UPDATED

Does ABC News hold the death card that will “end Newt’s career”?

UPDATE: An ABC News executive told The Associated Press the network is likely to air the interview Thursday on “Nightline.” The Blaze’s earlier report and background on the controversy follows below.

According to Drudge Report, Marianne Gingrich — ex-wife of GOP candidate Newt Gingrich — dropped what sources claim is a game-changing bombshell about the former House Speaker — one that could “end” her ex-husband’s career. The two-hour long interview, conducted last week by Brian Ross, is said to contain “explosive revelations” that will “rock the campaign trail.”

The controversial nature of the interview is now causing major waves at the network, according to sources, and a “civil war” has since exploded at ABC on exactly when the tell-all will air.

Drudge reports that executives at ABCNews say it would be “unethical” to run Marianne Gingrich’s interview so close to South Carolina Primary and that a tentative decision has been made to broadcast the interview next Monday after all votes have been counted.

Well, we know that Newt was a bad husband, so there has to be more, a lot more if this story could end his career. Or is ABC just hoping that just the mention of a “bombshell” will do the trick. I have feared Newt’s baggage, and I suppose we will find out soon if my fears were well founded.

Right now, and I hate saying this, it appears that we could be, after South Carolina, down to Newt and Romney. If this news is truly a bombshell though what then. Let’s say Newt gets destroyed by this interview. Does Santorum rebound? Will Romney have  cakewalk from here out? Could there be one last shot for Perry? Likely not, since the voters seem to written Perry off for some unforgivable sin. Frankly, I am stunned that the base turned on Perry so quickly, and so permanently.

One last thought. How valid will this story be? Would Newt’s ex try to destroy him by lying? Clearly he was a cheat, but we already know that. Would she be willing to add “facts” to kill Newt’s chances? I always question the timing these types of interviews. If there was something so bad that it will nuke Newt, why was it not shared before this?

UPDATE! Hot Air reports via Howard Kurtz that the interview will reveal nothing new.

Good lord. After all the hype tonight, is this thing actually going to be a giant nothingburger? Howard Kurtz:

A knowledgeable insider says that Newt Gingrich’s second wife does not say anything in the taped interview with ABC News that she hasn’t said in previous print interviews. But to repeat her account of how their marriage failed—because the then-House speaker was having an affair—in a form that can be endlessly replayed on television could prove a serious distraction for the presidential candidate two days before the South Carolina primary.

So maybe this is just a publicity deal for her? Or maybe the thought is that this will hamstring the Gingrich “surge”. Guess we find out soon enough
