However, it looks like they’re now admitting they dropped the ball even worse than we initially thought (emphasis mine).
The FBI in January received a tip to a public reporting line that Nikolas Cruz might carry out a school shooting, but failed to pass the information to its Miami field office or investigate any further, authorities said Friday.
The bureau acknowledged the startling lapse in a statement, saying a person close to Cruz had contacted the bureau’s public access tip line on January 5 and “provided information about Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.” On Wednesday, Cruz killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
The bureau said the information “should have been assessed as a potential threat to life” and passed to the Miami field office, but was not, and “no further investigation was conducted at that time.”
In other words, the FBI was handed every single red flag possible, and they still didn’t do a blasted thing.
Why? What was so important that someone with the means, opportunity, and stated intention to launch a school shooting couldn’t be investigated?
FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement that the facts are still being investigated.
“I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public,” Wray said. “It’s up to all Americans to be vigilant, and when members of the public contact us with concerns, we must act properly and quickly.”
Blah, blah, blah. Wray sound like another politician here. Someone, screwed up, and badly. There is no excuse Tom Knighton at Bearing Arms sums up his feelings, and mine
Hell, I think I’d have an easier time swallowing this if they’d looked into it and just found the tip wasn’t credible. I could probably accept that. I’d still be upset about it, but people make mistakes like that far more often than I suspect we’d like to believe. At least the steps were followed in that case.
Here, they weren’t.
The FBI isn’t having a very good 2018, but at this point, I can’t really muster any ability to give a damn. I know there are good people who work for the FBI, and I know most agents are hard-working, dedicated public servants. But this is unconscionable. There is no way this should be allowed to slide.
There are 17 dead kids. There are 17 families mourning right now, and the FBI was given the information that might have stopped the murders, and they didn’t even make a phone call, apparently.
Amen. It is one thing to try and fail. But to not even try?
Not very well, murder is up, thugs are killing people, and activists? They are stuck on stupid. Funny how thugs do not obey laws isn’t it? They do not care much about the pleas of idiots either
Last Friday, Baltimore kicked off its “Nobody Kill Anybody” weekend. The ceasefire was set to last 72 hours.
“The goal is for everyone in the city to know that Baltimore is committing to no shootings, no stabbings, etc…” the Baltimore Ceasefire’s Facebook page wrote. “No murders during the first weekend in August. WE CAN DO IT! Let’s go.”
Unfortunately, the city only made it 41 hours before a 24-year-old man was shot and killed. A few hours later, a 37-year-old was also fatally shot.
Thankfully, the final day passed without incident. However, an hour after the ceasefire ended, yet another shooting occurred.
While the city witnessed two more murders that weekend, many still considered the event to be a success.
“I would point to Friday,” Corneilius Scott of Mothers of Murdered Sons and Daughters told Fox News. “There were no killings on Friday and how often does that happen?”
For a city that averages roughly a murder a day, that’s pretty rare.
How are people so foolish? Do they think that violent criminals are going to stop being violent criminals for 72 hours? Why don’t they focus on longer sentences for these violent criminals? Why don’t they demand mayors that support police, rather than those who believe in giving looters and rioters “room to destroy”
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — After days of peaceful protests in honor of the 25-year-old black West Baltimore man who died in police custody on April 19, demonstrations took a violent turn in Baltimore Saturday.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake held a press conference Saturday alongside community and religious leaders and asked for peace as hundreds marched in Baltimore in honor of Freddie Gray.
But when one reporter asked to comment on how Baltimore police responded to the protesters she said she instructed officers to allow protesters to express themselves and that “we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.”
So handcuffing police and allowing thugs to loot, riot and burn does not deter violent criminals? How shocking! A slew of new gun laws do not deter thugs from killing? Stunning! Lax sentencing guidelines and early release of violent felons doen’s work either? No! And now we learn that meaningless feel good slogans like “No one kill anybody for 72 hours” are meaningless as well. Wowsers! I have to ask when these mental midgets will learn.
David Burgos’ modified walker, with swiveling wheels, a fold-down seat and a sewn-on Texas Rangers cushion, was his only means of getting around.
But to the thief who stole it from his family’s North Side porch, it was just a little more scrap metal.
Now police are looking for the man who was captured on the Burgos family’s home surveillance video taking the walker from the porch early Thursday morning. The same man was captured on video the same night stealing a flag pole from Burgos’ grandparents, who live four houses down on Belmont Avenue.
Thankfully for David, who has cerebral palsy, friends and family have stepped up and donated both a walker for him to use temporarily, along with more than $3,000 to replace one of life’s necessities for the young man on the go.

Here is what the chief said, and the media, naturally, gave him a pass
Recently, in an attempt to shed some light on the root of his city’s troubles and deflect blame away from his own desk, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn once again attempted to throw the law-abiding citizens of Wisconsin under the bus.
“I can tell you anecdotally we’re seeing a number of shootings involving concealed-carry permit holders—many of whom have extensive criminal records.” Flynn said. “But I’m not allowed to tell you how many or whom, because the law has been carefully written to prevent analysis of that information.”
Jenn Jacques, of Bearing Arms is having none of it!
Of course, anyone with an “extensive” criminal record is not get a CHL license, so Flynn is simply trying to hide his failures as police chief, and to attack law-abiding citizens. Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel laid waste to Flynn’s specious claims.
“I’m not aware of evidence of statistical significance that there are people who gain a permit who are committing crime with guns,” said Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel. “We only give permits to people who are law-abiding, who have no record of anything that disqualifies them from seeking that firearm, and those people don’t tend to commit crimes with the guns.”
In other words, Flynn is a disgrace to his office. Jacques points out that since 2001 only 1% of permit holders have been revoked, and over a third of those lost their permit because they moved out of the state.
Sheriff David Clarke also responded to Flynn’s reckless disregard for the truth
This anti-gun liberal is doing what liberals do best. Blame the law-abiding citizen for incidents of violent crime. He knows no shame as he manufactures fake news about concealed-carry permit holders.
To date, Milwaukee has had 138 homicides, compared to 145 in 2015. This is one of the highest per-capita homicide rates in the country. Many of these are senseless killings in drive-bys; drug- and gang-related incidents; instances of domestic violence; and innocent people becoming caught in a crossfire. You can count on one hand the number of these involving a concealed-carry permit, and of those, most involved self-defense.
These are the second- and third-highest homicide totals in Milwaukee history. That is a pattern. That is a pattern in part due to an inability of Flynn or anti-gun Mayor Tom Barrett to come up with a plan to reduce the pathologies that contribute to violence. Those are generational poverty, failing K-12 public schools, massive black unemployment, and dysfunctional families due to absent fathers. So they blame law-abiding citizens instead.
He is lying about not being able to analyze shootings involving concealed-carry permit holders. His problem is that there are so few, and most of those are justifiable self-defense.My advice to Flynn: Fix the ghetto, concentrate on career criminals and leave law-abiding gun owners alone.
That is great advice the Flynn would already be putting into practice, were he competent. Instead, he is lying and smearing lawful citizens, apparently with the tacit approval of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. That is beyond shameful, and it goes beyond just lying about CHL holders. It shows that the chief and mayor apparently care less about getting these murderers off the street than they do about pushing gun false control narratives.
