One of the funniest movies ever made,I’ve seen it easily 75+ times since first viewing in the late 70’s.Richard Pryor was one of the screenwriters,he wrote quite a lot of it on an Amtrak train going out to Los Angeles.Mel Brooks approached John Wayne to play Sheriff Taggart (for an obscene amount of money),The Duke politely turned him down stating ”It sounds hilarious,but way too risque & off the wall for my image & audience.But I’ll be first in line at the Premiere to see it!”

    With all the whiny pussies & snowflakes out there offended at A JOKE,no way could a movie like this even be considered to be done today.
