Singapore To Jail People For 6 Months For Standing Too Close To Strangers – Summit News

Singapore is set to punish people who stand too close to strangers with 6 months in prison as the true scope of “social distancing” measures begins to be felt around the world.

According to a press release from the country’s Ministry of Health, Singaporeans who fail to maintain a distance of one meter from other people during “non-transient” public interactions can be fined 10,000 Singapore dollars ($6,985) or hit with 6 months in jail.

The measure is obviously designed to target groups of people who congregate or people who visit their friends and relatives.

As the resentment of being forced to live under quarantine lockdown for weeks and possibly months builds, authorities across the world are undoubtedly going to face a growing backlash from the citizenry, no matter how bad the spread of coronavirus.

In France, a 35-year-old man was sent to prison after repeatedly violating lockdown measures after being found guilty of “endangering the lives of others.”…

.

.
A massive United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket took the U.S. Space Force into space on Thursday. The rocket was decked out in the official Space Force logo as it escorted an Advanced Extremely High Frequency communications satellite into orbit.

Atlas took off from a launchpad at Cape Canaveral in Florida. ULA’s live launch webcast kicked off at 11:37 a.m. PT, but the flight took place around 1:20 p.m. PT after a technical issue foiled the first countdown. The second attempt went off smoothly.

The Atlas V booster separated cleanly from the Centaur upper stage that will take the satellite on the final leg of its journey into orbit. “Successful staging and ignition of the Centaur upper stage is confirmed!” ULA tweeted…

Record 3.3 Million Americans Filed For Unemployment Benefits This Week – Zero Hedge

The pace at which Americans are losing their jobs is absolutely breathtaking. According to the Wall Street Journal, the largest number of new claims for unemployment benefits ever recorded in a single week prior to this year was 695,000 during the week that ended October 2nd, 1982.

So that means that what we are now witnessing is completely unprecedented, as The US Department of Labor reports a stunning increase of 3.283 million people sought initial jobless claims last week amid the virus lockdowns (almost double the expectation of a 1.7million increase).

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that nearly every single state cited Covid-19 in its reporting.

Service industries were hit hard, but the BLS says other industries were cited: health care and social assistance, arts, entertainment and recreation, transportation and warehousing, and manufacturing. Only three states had estimated claims…

German Parliament Passes Historic €750 Billion Aid Package – Deutsche Welle
.

.
Germany’s lower house of parliament has approved a €750 billion ($814 billion) aid package on Wednesday to cushion the economy from the direct impact of the coronavirus outbreak. In order to fund the emergency measures, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government is planning to take on new debt for the first time since 2013.

The debt ceiling, which is anchored in German law and limits annual government borrowing, was also suspended in a separate vote on Wednesday. It means the government can take on another €156 billion in 2020 as part of the aid package.

The special coronavirus spending plans received broad support in the Bundestag. Only the far-right populist Alternative for Germany party abstained…

Trump Administration To Designate Venezuela As State Sponsor Of Terrorism, Charge Nicolas Maduro – WREG

The Trump administration is expected to designate Venezuela as a state sponsor of terrorism as soon as Thursday and bring charges against the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, according to five sources familiar with the situation, in a momentous move that will mark a modern low point in relations between the U.S. and the ailing socialist state.

The designation puts Venezuela in the company of only four other countries – North Korea, Iran, Sudan and Syria – that have “repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism,” and will enable the U.S. government to implement further crippling sanctions on the Maduro regime.

Prosecutors from the U.S. Department of Justice are also expected to unseal criminal charges against Maduro and senior leaders from his government, the sources said. It’s unclear what specific crimes they are being accused of, but the sources said they were related to the country’s extensive drug trafficking efforts…

LA County Sheriff Orders Closure Of Gun Stores, Releases 1,700 Inmates – Breitbart

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has released 1,700 inmates from county facilities and is ordering gun stores in the county closed. Fox 11 reports the gun store closures are part of the coronavirus stay-at-home order while the release of the inmates is an attempt to slow the spread of the virus in county facilities.

Villanueva is the Director of Emergency Operations, which means “all FEMA requests go through him, and all National Guard requests go through him.”

He said, “When we’re communicating the shelter in place or the safer at home, there’s a lot of anguish, however, the people who have to enforce it are public safety, and we were totally out of the process, we were not involved,”

Villanueva defended his decision to close gun stores, by intimating that all the first-time gun buyers emerging amid the virus crisis create a perilous situation: “I’m a supporter of the 2nd amendment, I’m a gun owner myself…

.

.
The Communist thugs in charge of China have been trying to have it two ways on coronavirus: Playing the aggrieved victim of racism/biological-warfare/whatever, and acting like the international bigshot who, having solved the crisis at home, is now eager to help other nations around the world.

Beijing’s antics are making everything worse everywhere, this time in the Czech Republic. The Czech newspaper Irozhlas (I-Radio) reports that the bigshots in Beijing sent 150,000 coronavirus rapid testing kits to Czechia which return false results up to 80% of the time.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday ordered Britons to stay at home to try to halt the spread of coronavirus, imposing curbs on everyday life without precedent in peacetime. All but essential shops will close and people should no longer meet family or friends or risk being fined, Johnson said on Monday in a televised address to the nation.

Johnson had resisted pressure to impose a full lockdown even as other European countries had done so, but was forced to change tack as projections showed the health system could become overwhelmed.

Deaths from the virus in Britain jumped to 335 on Monday as the government said the military would help ship millions of items of personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks to healthcare workers who have complained of shortages…

Tokyo Olympics Postponed Until 2021 – The Guardian

The Tokyo Olympics are to be postponed until 2021 after talks between Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, and the International Olympic Committee president, Thomas Bach.

Abe said they had established that cancelling the Games was out of the question, and that Bach had agreed “100%” that a postponement was the most appropriate response to the global disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We agreed that a postponement would be the best way to ensure that the athletes are in peak condition when they compete and to guarantee the safety of the spectators,” Abe told reporters shortly after his conference call with Bach, adding that the Games would be held by the summer of 2021.

The Games “must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community”, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee said later in a joint statement…

Maryland Prepared To Jail People For Up To A Year If They Resist New Quarantine Edicts – Big League Politics

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a “moderate” voice within the Republican Party that has consistently opposed President Donald Trump, is threatening anyone with up to a year behind bars if they refuse to abide by his coronavirus edicts.

Hogan issued executive orders on Monday to close down restaurants, bars, movie theaters and gyms throughout his state, exploiting emergency powers to justify his anti-constitutional mandate. He also banned any public gathering with more than 50 people attending, which has since been reduced to 10 people in recent days.

Maryland State Police Superintendent Col. Woodrow W. Jones III made it clear that law enforcement will be working “around the clock and across the state” to enforce those orders. He made it clear that anyone who doesn’t comply will be subject to a fine up to $5,000, receiving up to a year in prison, or both.
