Dunkin’ Dumps Store Owners For Hiring Undocumented Workers – Washington Examiner

The world famous doughnut maker Dunkin’, outraged that some franchises are not using the required E-Verify system to make sure its workers are documented, has moved to oust the owners and take over the restaurants.

According to several reports, the Massachusetts-based breakfast and lunch restaurant, which recently changed its name from Dunkin’ Donuts, has sued to stop those franchise owners from operating.

The most recent suits were filed in Delaware and Pennsylvania, “amid what appears to be a crackdown on franchisees employment verification practices,” according to Restaurant Business.

A post from Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, said, “Each of the lawsuits is similar. They each said that Dunkin’ reviewed employment verification documents and practices, found violations at the subject franchisee companies, terminated the operators’ franchise agreements and then swiftly moved to remove the franchisees from the restaurants.”…

.

.
Hong Kong protesters on Monday marked the 22nd anniversary of the city’s return to Chinese rule by bursting into the legislative building amid widespread anger over proposed laws that would allow extraditions to the mainland.

In a direct challenge to Beijing, black-clad protesters wearing hard hats and face masks smashed a big hole through the bottom of a window at the government headquarters, known as the Legislative Council. The demonstrators cheered and waved umbrellas as they took control of the ravaged building, where riot police had stood guard hours earlier, according to CNN.

The former British colony has been wracked by weeks of protests over a government attempt to change extradition laws to allow suspects to be sent…

Ted Cruz Calls For FBI To ‘Investigate And Bring Legal Action’ Against Portland Mayor – Breitbart

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has called on both the FBI and the Department of Justice to investigate Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler.

“To law enforcement: find & prosecute these violent felons,” Cruz tweeted after the violent left-wing Antifa attacks on Saturday. “To federal law enforcement,” he wrote. “Investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists.”

Wheeler is under fire for his response – or lack thereof – to the violent Antifa protesters in the city under his care. During the demonstrations, journalist Andy Ngo was beaten in the head and hit with a milkshake allegedly filled with quick-dry cement. Cruz also went after Vox writer Carlos Maza for encouraging the actions.

“Troubling, if true,” Cruz said of a screenshot of a Maza tweet posted on Sunday. “Should ‘journalists’ be inciting physical violence against those with whom they disagree?”…

Turns Out Kamala Harris’ Ancestor Owned Slaves – Big League Politics

Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris is descended from Irish slave owner Hamilton Brown, the namesake of Brown’s Town in Jamaica, who recruited massive numbers of Irish migrants to Jamaica to work on his sugar plantations after the British empire abolished slavery.

Kamala Harris’ father Donald Harris wrote an essay entitled “Reflections of a Jamaican Father” for Jamaica Global Online, in which he made a startling admission (emphasis added):

“My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town) and to my maternal grandmother Miss Iris (née Iris Finegan, farmer and educator, from Aenon Town and Inverness, ancestry unknown to me).

The Harris name comes from my paternal grandfather Joseph Alexander Harris, land-owner and agricultural ‘produce’ exporter (mostly pimento or all-spice), who died in 1939 one year after I was born and is buried in the church yard of the magnificent Anglican Church…

More Calls For Queer Mayor’s Resignation – Washington Free Beacon
.

.
South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg (D.) faces growing calls for his resignation in the wake of a white police officer shooting and killing a black man. The incident occurred in the early morning of June 14 and snapped racial tensions that have been tightening since Buttigieg demoted Darryl Boykins, the city’s first black police chief, in 2012.

Buttigieg held a town hall on June 23, but South Bend’s black community reacted with fury. They pointed to racial conflicts within the SBPD as well as the department’s fraught relationship with the black community, demanding swift change.

Six shootings occurred the weekend of his town hall. In one instance, a witness reported that the shooter was aiming specifically at police…

Welsh Farmer Bought 13th Century Castle By Mistake – Daily Mail

A farmer has revealed how his family bought a 13th century castle from a Welsh Lord – by mistake. Gwylim Morris and his family only wanted to buy a simple farm when they snapped up a parcel of land in the Welsh countryside.

After the deal had gone through the stunned family realised they had accidentally taken over one of Wales’ most iconic castles too.

Carreg Cennen stands on top of a hill in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, just 200m away from Gwylim’s new front door at Castle Farm. Having rented the land near the castle from Lord Cawdor of Pembroke, as tenants on his farm on the outskirts of Llandeilo, the Morris family decided to secure the land for prosperity.

However upon purchasing the bundle of land they noticed an unexpected detail in the paperwork, the red line indicating the property boundary showed Carreg Cennen castle to be in their possession…

Trump Deregulation Will Boost Household Income By $3,100, Report Finds – Daily Signal

The Trump administration deregulation efforts will raise incomes by about $3,100 per household over the next five to 10 years, and sharply reduce prices for consumers, according to a report released Friday by the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

“The deregulatory efforts of the Trump administration have also removed mandates from employers, especially smaller businesses, and have removed burdens that would have eliminated many small bank lenders from the marketplace,” Casey Mulligan, the chief economist for the Council of Economic Advisers, told reporters Friday. “These deregulatory actions are raising real incomes by increasing competition, productivity, and wages.”

The Council of Economic Advisers report is titled “The Economic Effects of Federal Deregulation Since January 2017: An Interim Report.”

The report takes a sampling of 20 major deregulatory efforts, which it projects alone will save consumers and businesses about $220 billion annually, and increase after-inflation incomes by 1.3%…

Russia To Tow Controversial Nuclear Power Station To Arctic – The Hill

Russia will tow a controversial floating nuclear power plant to the Arctic next month, CNN reported Sunday. The Akademik Lomonosov will float next to a small Arctic port town of Pevek, nearly 4,000 miles away from Moscow.

The move will allow the plant to provide electricity to settlements and companies extracting hydrocarbons in the Chukotka region, according to CNN. The floating plant, which will be the farthest north nuclear station in the world, has received criticism from environmental groups.

The Lomonosov platform has been dubbed “Chernobyl on Ice” or “floating Chernobyl” by Greenpeace, referring to the Soviet power plant that melted down in the 1980s. Rosatom, the state company in charge of Russia’s nuclear projects, has been fighting against this nickname, saying such criticism is ill-founded.

“It’s totally not justified to compare these two projects. These are baseless claims, just the way the reactors themselves operate is different,”…

“Wealthy” Chicago Households On Hook For $2 Million In Debt Each Under ‘Progressive Solution’ To Pension Crisis – Zero Hedge

Chicagoans are buried under so much pension debt it’s impossible to see how their city can avoid a fiscal collapse without major, structural reforms. The futility of paying down those debts becomes obvious when you try to figure out just who’s going to pay for it all.

The total amount of city, county and state retirement debt Chicagoans are on the hook for is $150 billion, based on Moody’s most recent pension data. Split that evenly across the city’s one million-plus households and you arrive at nearly $145,000 per household.

That’s an outrageous amount, but it would be a clean solution if each and every Chicago household could simply absorb $145,000 in government retirement debt. The problem is, most can’t.

One-fifth of Chicagoans live in poverty and nearly half of all Chicago households make less than $50,000 a year. It wouldn’t just be wrong to try and squeeze those Chicagoans further, but pointless. They don’t have the money…

DemoNazi-Run California Legislature Passes Bill To Put Trannies In Women’s Prisons, Even Rapists – The Federalist

While it should be obvious that women’s prisons are for convicted criminals who are female, California Senate Bill 132, sponsored by state Sen. Scott Weiner (D-San Francisco), requires men who say they are women to be housed in women’s prisons. he State Senate passed the bill in May, and it passed the state Assembly with very little opposition on June 25.

The bill demands that the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation ask prisoners their preferred pronouns and gender identity at intake, then house them accordingly. This means that a man need only say at intake that he is a woman to gain access to women’s prison. In passing this bill, California has turned its back on incarcerated women.

In describing the bill, the Legislative Council’s Digest states:

The bill would require staff and contractors to consistently use the gender pronoun and honorific an individual has specified in verbal and written communications with or regarding that individual that involve the use of a pronoun or honorific…

Manure Pile Spontaneously Combusts To Spark 13,000-Acre Wildfire, Spanish Authorities Say – USA Today
.

.
Spontaneous combustion of a manure pile on a farm likely sparked a 13,000-acre wildfire now burning out of control in northeastern Spain, authorities say.

Television reports showed horses incinerated in the blaze that rolled across the rural terrain, forcing the evacuation of at least 53 residents in Spain’s Catalonia region. Hundreds of sheep also died in the fire and smoke that drew more than 500 firefighters and soldiers to battle the flames, The Guardian reported.

The flames threatened nearly 50,000 acres in the area, said Miquel Buch, the regional interior minister, calling it the area’s worst wildfire in 20 years. “Let us be very aware that any irresponsibility can end up being a catastrophe,” Buch said in a tweet…

Acting DHS Chief Predicts Up To 25 Percent Drop In Border Crossings After New U.S.-Mexico Agreement – Fox News

The acting head of the Department of Homeland Security on Friday said that he expects the number of migrants apprehended at the border will be lower by up to 25 percent in June than in previous months after Mexico increased its enforcement measures.

“It’s become clear that over the past three weeks since the administration reached a new agreement with Mexico that we’ve seen a substantial increase in the number of interdictions on the Mexican southern border, and a sincere effort to address the transportation networks coming through Mexico,” Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan told reporters.

The U.S. and Mexico reached agreement this month on a deal that sees Mexico take “unprecedented steps to increase enforcement to curb irregular migration” in exchange for the U.S. dropping proposed sanctions on Mexican imports.

McAleenan said the U.S. was looking to see Mexico increase its deployment of National Guard members to the border, and for the expansion of the Migrant Protection Protocols…

Female Captain Arrested After Rescue Ship Carrying 40 Migrants Rams Italian Border Force Boat – Daily Mail

The captain of a migrant-loaded German aid ship which rammed an Italian border force boat has been arrested.

An extraordinary standoff between the two vessels off the coast of the Mediterranean’s Lampedusa island was broken when Captain Carola Rackete, 31, plowed into the smaller motorboat which was blocking her ship from port.

Two weeks earlier, Ms Rackete and her crew rescued 40 migrants and had requested permission to drop them off on the tiny Italian-owned island. But the country’s anti-migrant interior minister Matteo Salvini refused to let them disembark on Lampedusa until other European Union countries agreed to take in the asylum-seekers

Five countries offered on Friday home the migrants but still the Italian government did not give permission for the the Dutch-flagged Sea-Watch 3 to disembark.

At dawn this morning, Ms Rackete, fed up, steamed towards the shore and in doing so smacked into the much smaller border force motorboat…
