Grassley Extends Deadline For Kavanaugh Accuser To Decide On Testifying – The Hill

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said late Friday night that he is giving Christine Blasey Ford more time to decide whether to testify on her allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Grassley wrote on Twitter that he had “just granted another extension to Dr Ford to decide if she wants to proceed [with] the statement she made last week to testify to the senate.”

The GOP chairman didn’t specify how long of an extension he is giving Ford, but his announcement kicks the negotiations over a public hearing into at least Saturday. Grassley wrote on Twitter that Ford “[should] decide so we can move on,” adding, “I want to hear her.”

He noted the Judiciary Committee had given Ford five extensions to decide if she wanted to meet with the Senate panel.

“Dr Ford if u changed ur mind say so so we can move on I want to hear ur testimony. Come to us or we to u,” Grassley added in a tweet…

Fake Hispanic Beto O’Rourke Pins Himself In Corner Over Drunk Driving Claim – Daily Wire
.

.
Texas Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke pinned himself in a corner during Friday night’s debate with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) after he claimed that he did not try to flee the scene of a drunk driving crash that he caused in 1998 – despite the fact that a police report from the incident states he did try to flee the scene.

“Representative O’Rourke, you have addressed your 1998 DWI arrest numerous times during your public career, but not this question,” the moderator said. “As the Houston Chronicle pointed out recently, a witness said in that accident that you tried to leave the scene of the accident.”

“Did you?” the moderator asked. “And should voters be concerned about this incident?”

“I did not try to leave the scene of the accident,” O’Rourke responded…

One Of Australia’s Biggest Banks Caught Committing Mortgage Fraud On Elderly Couple – Zero Hedge

An elderly couple in Western Australia found themselves to be victims of a mortgage fraud that ultimately cost them about $200,000 and their marriage, when a door-to-door salesman on behalf of a real estate developer pushed them toward an overpriced home purchase – and one of Australia’s “big four” banks, Westpac reportedly modified the couple’s disclosed income in order to get them a loan that they shouldn’t have qualified for.

Internal documents from Westpac shows that the bank’s staff inflated the income of the couple in order to approve a $464,000 loan in early 2012.

After the couple’s monthly income was changed from $4561.67 to $5797, modified using a one time bonus the husband received, the couple quickly started struggling to make repayments on the new property. They were also unable to find a tenant for the property for long periods, which exacerbated their financial situation.

Below is a photograph of internal documents from Westpac showing that the couple had been initially denied the loan in January 2012…

PayPal Blacklists Infowars For ‘Promoting Hate’ – Breitbart
.

.
Internet payment services giant PayPal has blacklisted Infowars from its platform for allegedly promoting “hate and discriminatory intolerance against certain communities and religions.”

Infowars was informed of the ban this week, and it claims to have been told “off record” that the ban was due to “criticism of Islam and opposition to transgenderism being taught to children in schools.”

“The ban was instituted despite InfowarsStore.com containing no political content whatsoever, emphasizing how the decision was a broader attack on the Infowars platform,” Infowars declared in a statement. “PayPal representatives said they were giving Infowars 10 days to switch payment processors, after which all services would be terminated.”…

China Considers Lowering Tariffs As Its Economy Faces Difficulties – OAN

President Trump appears to be winning the trade war against China. Beijing is reportedly looking at lowering import tariffs on global trading partners, which could include the U.S.

This comes after President Trump announced another round of tariffs on Monday, targeting about $200 billion worth of Chinese goods. While Beijing has vowed to impose retaliatory tariffs, the country’s premier said it’s getting harder for China to maintain a stable economy.

“China is facing a host of difficulties and challenges in economic development,” stated Li Keqiang, the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

“The international economic and trade environment has experienced significant changes which inevitably affect the Chinese economy – we are exploring further policies to bring out further cut in taxes and fees.”

According to reports, China could lower the tariffs as early as next month. Officials have not confirmed if the U.S. would be affected by the move…

“We are aware of the video and investigating the serious issues it raises, and we have also communicated with the GAO Inspector General,” the GAO said in a statement.

The office was responding to a video posted Thursday that purports to show GAO auditor Natarajan Subramanian detailing his involvement in the Washington, D.C., chapter of DSA.

Subramanian explained in the video that he does social media work for DSA, and contributes to the organization for an estimated 20 hours a week…

FBI Finally Releases Reason For Evacuating New Mexico Solar Observatory: Child Porn – Washington Standard

Earlier this month, the Sunspot Solar Observatory in New Mexico mysteriously shut down without warning and under a shroud of secrecy. The local police were not informed about the nature of the FBI investigation which caused conspiracy theories to abound.

Then, on Sunday, a statement from the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), the group who runs the observatory, suddenly released the reason for the investigation, noting that it was “criminal” and the site was closed over concerns for “the safety of local staff and residents.”

“AURA determined that moving the small number of on-site staff and residents off the mountain was the most prudent and effective action to ensure their safety.”

The statement did not explain the “criminal activity” allegedly discovered at the observatory, or mention anything about arrests. It then acknowledged how the secrecy and “lack of communications while the facility was vacated was concerning and frustrating for some.”…

French Court Orders Marine Le Pen To Submit To Psychiatric Evaluation – The Hill
.

.
A French court has ordered far-right leader and former presidential candidate Marine Le Pen to submit to a psychiatric evaluation after she posted Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) execution images to her Twitter account.

Reuters first reported that Le Pen made the announcement of the tribunal’s decision on Thursday in a statement denouncing the court’s decision. The investigation into her Twitter habits stems from 2015 posts in which she posted three images of ISIS executioners performing grisly murders.

The tribunal declined to comment on Le Pen’s case but noted that such evaluations are commonplace, Reuters reported….

Google Emails Show Employees Sought To Leverage Search Results To Harm Trump’s Agenda, Report Says – Daily Wire

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson reported Thursday night that emails he recently obtained show that Google employees schemed to “leverage” Google’s search to promote certain groups and terms in search results that were in opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration’s agenda.

“We have internal documents that show that Google employees discussed corrupting the company’s search engine to push propaganda on hundreds of millions of unsuspecting users,” Carlson said.

“Shortly after taking office, President Trump issued his now famous ‘Travel Ban,'” Carlson continued. “Almost immediately after that Google employees began plotting ways to undermine the president’s executive order.”

“On January 29, a Google product marketing manager named Mackenzie Thomas sent an email to a group of fellow employees: ‘There is a large brainstorm going on throughout the marketing org,’ she wrote,” Carlson said…

.

.
A suspect who was caught on camera using the tiniest accomplice to help him steal prizes from an arcade game has been identified as a teacher – and he’s been removed from the classroom, police and school officials said.

Anthony Helinski, 34, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, surrendered to police in New Hampshire on Wednesday after he was spotted coaching his daughter on how to pilfer prizes from an arcade game at the Mall of Rockingham Park in Salem on Sept. 14. Helinski turned himself in with an attorney after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, the Eagle-Tribune reports.

“This allegation is not in line with his reputation and character,” said Helinski’s attorney, Christopher Coughlin…

Winning: Jobless Claims Fall To 49-Year-Low For Third Straight Week – The Hill

Applications for unemployment benefits fell to a new 49-year low for the third straight week, reflecting a tight job market. U.S. filings for jobless claims fell 3,000 to a seasonally adjusted 201,000 in the week ended Sept. 15, the lowest level since Nov. 15 1969, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The four-week moving average, which is a better gauge for the direction of job market, was 205,750, a decrease of 2,250 from the previous week’s 208,000, the lowest level since Dec. 6, 1969 when it was 204,500.

The effects of Hurricane Florence, which hit North Carolina and South Carolina last weekend, on jobs is not yet known.

The storm, which has caused widespread flooding across the two states, may temporarily push up unemployment figures in the next few weeks like Hurricanes Harvey and Irma did last year…

Former Scalia Law Clerk Drops Pictures And Evidence That Blows Christine Ford’s Case Wide Open – Gateway Pundit
.

.
Is this a case of mistaken identity? Accuser Christine Blasey Ford is waging a war on Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh with decades-old, unsubstantiated claims of sexual assault in an effort to derail his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Judge Kavanaugh has categorically denied the allegations and even told Senator Orin Hatch he wasn’t at the party in question.

Ed Whelan, Justice Scalia’s former law clerk and president of conservative think tank the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), came out in defense of Brett Kavanaugh and said compelling evidence will come out next week exonerating Kavanaugh. On Thursday afternoon, Ed Whelan started dropping pictures and evidence that may blow Christine Ford’s case wide open…

MAGA Update: Dow, S&P Close At Record Highs- Money Watch

A wave of buying sent U.S. stocks solidly higher on Wall Street Thursday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrial Average above the all-time high it closed at in January. The S&P 500, the benchmark for many index funds, was also above the peak it reached last month.

A weaker dollar and a mix of mostly encouraging economic reports kept investors in a buying mood, despite the escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China as each nation imposes new rounds of punitive tariffs on the other.

Technology stocks, banks and health care companies accounted for much of the rally. Energy and industrial companies lagged, and homebuilders slumped following new data showing flat home sales in August and surging mortgage rates.

The S&P 500 index rose 23 points, or 0.8 percent, to close at 2,931. The Dow Jones industrials gained 251 points, or 1 percent, ending at 26,657. The Nasdaq composite climbed 78 points, or 1 percent, to finish at 8,028. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies picked up 16 points, or 0.9 percent, closing at 1,719…

Fake News Update: CNN’s Chris Cillizza Lies About Trump ‘Telling FBI To Ignore’ Kavanaugh Misconduct Allegation – Breitbart
.

.
CNN’s Chris Cillizza lied about President Trump “telling the FBI to ignore an allegation of sexual” misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Cillizza, who has already proven himself to be one of the most flagrantly dishonest staffers at the far-left CNN, tweeted out his lie Tuesday in response to a comment Trump made about the FBI not wanting to investigate the misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh.

Cillizza’s lie is deceptive in two ways. To begin with, in his statement, all the president did was reiterate what the FBI has already said. On two occasions, through the Department of Justice, and independent of Trump, the FBI accurately pointed out that their agency does not investigate local sexual misconduct allegations…

Senate Judiciary Chairman Grassley Willing To Send Staff To California To Speak With Kavanaugh Accuser – The Hill

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is willing to send staff to speak with the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault to hear her story, an aide said Wednesday.

Committee spokesman Garrett Ventry told The Hill that Grassley is willing to send committee staff to speak with Christine Blasey Ford in California, where she is a professor at Palo Alto University.

Grassley separately told reporters on Wednesday that he is offering four potential venues to hear from Ford, including a public or private hearing before committee members, or public or private interviews with committee staff.

“We’re going to continue to try to hear from Dr. Ford in any format she’s comfortable [with] open session/closed session/private staff interviews/public staff interviews [because] her information is very important. We’ve provided an opportunity for her to put her story fwd on Monday,” Grassley tweeted…

Officials Halt Obama Library Construction, Reveal Sweetheart Lease Deal Of $10 For 99 Years – Daily Wire
.

.
The Chicago Park District has put a halt to preparations being made for the Obama Presidential Library until after a federal court reviews a lawsuit filed by Chicago residents, and federal agencies assess the transfer of historic public land to a private entity.

But in the meantime, permits and agreements filed by Chicago city officials, and with the Chicago Department of Transportation, reveal a sweetheart rent deal that any Chicago renter (or landlord) would certainly envy: the Obama Foundation will pay a mere $10 for a 99-year lease on what is supposed to be a public park.

The Chicago Park District had begun felling trees on land destined to become part of the Obama Library complex, but those preparations ground to a halt Monday…

Cold-Blooded Hitman Caught On Camera Shooting Serbian Property Developer Turns Out To Be 70-Year-Old Woman – Daily Mail

This is the chilling moment a 70-year-old woman nonchalantly approaches a man in the street and shoots him three times in the head and body. The pensioner can then be seen walking away as though nothing had happened.

Named as 70-year-old Stojanka Stojanovic, she confessed to killing the man in northern Serbian capital Belgrade. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old property investor Zoran Trifunovic, who was fighting a court case against Stojanovic.

The footage from a street surveillance camera shows the victim walking towards his killer as he talks on a mobile phone. The OAP then calmly produces a gun and shoots him in the jaw at close range. Trifunovic slumps to the floor where he is shot again, this time in the stomach.

Stojanovic then walks slowly around his body before deciding to fire a parting shot at his head. As Trifunovic lies dying on the floor, the casual killer slowly walks away looking as though she does not have a care in the world…

Trump Visits North Carolina To Survey Florence Devastation – Asheville Citizen Times

President Donald Trump on Wednesday pledged the full support and finances of the federal government to support states struck by Tropical Storm Florence while insisting that at least some of the storm’s danger lingered.

Minutes after arriving in North Carolina to survey storm damage, Trump vowed “100 percent” backing to Gov. Roy Cooper. Trump twice stressed that, even though the skies above were clear and “beautiful,” the surrounding state was still at risk for flood.

The president said the region was in for a “rough two weeks,” but promised to send “a lot of money to the area.”

“We need it, and we have it, and we will be applying it, and there will be nothing left undone,” Trump said…

The Worst Ex-President Derby – Bruce Thornton

Jimmy Carter must be pleased. He got to surrender his “worst postwar president crown” to Barack Obama, and now with Obama’s recent return to public appearances, Jimmy is hopeful that his award for “worst postwar ex-president” will soon be gone as well. The real question for the rest of us is whether Obama will help or hurt the Dems in November.

Carter and Obama are competing in the same category: reactive presidents. In 1976 Carter seemed the antidote to the scandal-plagued Nixon years. The church-going peanut farmer from Georgia appeared to be the principled outsider who could cleanse the stains of Vietnam and Watergate.

No matter that Vietnam’s escalation had been a Democrat show, or that Nixon had drawn down U.S. troops in Vietnam from nearly half a million in 1969 to 27,000 in 1972.

Or that Watergate, as Conrad Black described the Europeans’ bemused reaction, was “a pious exercise in Anglo-Saxon hypocrisy covering the crucifixion of a capable and successful president,” one confected and peddled by the Nixon-hating media….
