Rep. Duncan Hunter And Wife Indicted On Fraud And Campaign Finance Charges – San Diego Union-Tribune
.

.
Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, and his wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday on dozens of criminal charges including wire fraud and campaign finance crimes.

The indictment, filed in federal court in San Diego, accuses the couple of converting more than $250,000 in campaign funds to pay for personal expenses and filing false campaign finance records with the Federal Election Commission to cover up the true nature of the expenses.

The 60-count indictment accuses the couple of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, falsification of records and aiding and abetting in the prohibited use of campaign contributions. Within hours of its issuance, Hunter assailed the investigation as politically motivated just weeks before the fall campaign season gets underway…

Venezuela’s Economy In Complete Collapse, And The Mother Of All Human Waves Outward Begins – Monica Showalter

As Brazilian troops move toward the Venezuelan border to sort that hell out, and Argentina of all places takes Venezuela to the World Court for crimes against humanity, and the U.S. sends out the USNS Comfort to aid thousands of Venezuela’s starving, sick refugees desperately huddled in Colombia, there’s obviously a whirlwind coming that that socialist regime is overdue to reap.

Economically, they’ve just committed suicide, with dictator Nicolás Maduro’s socialist solution for the country’s economic meltdown a simple matter of lopping five zeros off the virtually worthless currency, as if that will fix the five-digit-going-on-a-million-percent inflation, devaluing it 95%, pegging it to a made up crypto-currency that’s even skeezier than bitcoin, known as the “petro,” and raising the minimum wage 6,000%, a move that will shut down pretty much every private business left in Venezuela, given that businesses cannot raise prices…

.

.
A federal judge declined to give jail time to former Democratic IT aide Imran Awan Tuesday, saying he has “suffered enough” at the hands of politicians “at the highest levels of government.” In addition, the Department of Justice said it did not find any evidence that supported criminal charges.

Imran choked back tears, saying, “We want to thank the prosecution, the FBI and the Capitol Police,” while his lawyer submitted a letter referring to President Donald Trump, Sen. Chuck Grassley and other Republications as “deranged,” “pathetic” and “without a shred of decency.”

Judge Tanya Chutkin gave Imran three months of supervised release. Imran’s attorney had hoped to avoid the supervision, indicating Imran wanted to go back to Pakistan…

Jim Jordan: I’d Build Wall, Defund Planned Parenthood, Reform Welfare – WorldNetDaily

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, says he is focusing on helping Republicans retain their House majority before he worries about his bid for Speaker of the House.

But he says GOP lawmakers need to prove to voters they will do what they’ve promised the past four election cycles and that’s exactly how he would lead in the next Congress.

The race for speaker was triggered by Speaker Paul Ryan’s decision that he is retiring from Congress come January. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is considered Ryan’s natural successor, but Jordan says the past two years have shown plenty of conservative actions from President Trump but very little from Congress in comparison.

He applauds Trump’s actions on the Iran deal, moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and cutting taxes and regulations. He says the legislative branch is failing to do its part…

Former presidential lawyer Michael Cohen claimed he violated campaign finance law at the direction of President Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign…

DOJ Declines To Prosecute FBI Agent IG Says Received Money From Former Source, Protected Source’s Illegal Business, Provided False Info To Police, And Misused FBI Assets For Personal Gain – CNS

The Department of Justice has declined to prosecute an FBI special agent whom the department’s inspector general determined had received money from a former FBI confidential human source, had protected that source’s illegal business, had provided false information to a local police department and had misused FBI assets for personal gain.

The inspector general referred this FBI agent’s case to the Department of Justice but DOJ would not prosecute.

“Criminal prosecution of the SA was declined,” the IG said in a publicly released summary of the investigation.

DOJ declined to respond to questions that CNSNews.com asked it about this case. “We don’t comment on referrals,” a DOJ spokesperson said.

The Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Justice released its “investigative summary” of the case on Aug. 6…

Tom Cotton: Mollie Tibbetts ‘Would Be Alive’ If Immigration Laws Were ‘Seriously’ Enforced – Breitbart
.

.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says 20-year-old college student Mollie Tibbetts would still “be alive” if the United States’ immigration laws were “seriously” enforced.

Law enforcement announced on Tuesday that Tibbetts’ body was found in a cornfield in her rural hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa after she was last seen jogging on July 18.

Illegal alien Christian Bahena-Rivera, a 24-year-old from Mexico, has been charged with first-degree murder in her death after police say he admitted to confronting and chasing down Tibbetts.

Cotton, a staunch opponent of illegal immigration, said he was praying for the Tibbetts’ family and blamed decades of lax enforcement of immigration laws for the death of the young woman.

South Africa In Chaos As Government Begins Seizing White-Owned Farms – Your News Wire

South Africa’s hard-left government has begun forcibly seizing white-owned farmland, at the same time as extreme gun control measures are introduced to confiscate guns from the people.

Johannesburg-based newspaper City Press reported a letter was sent to owners Akkerland Boerdery that said: “Notice is hereby given that a terrain inspection will be held on the farms on April 5, 2018 at 10am in order to conduct an audit of the assets and a handover of the farm’s keys to the state.”

Akkerland Boerdery immediately took out an urgent injunction to prevent eviction until a court had ruled on the issue, but the Department of Rural Development and Land Affairs has refused the application.

The Express reports: Annelie Crosby, spokeswoman for the agricultural industry association AgriSA, told City Press: “What makes the Akkerland case unique is that they apparently were not given the opportunity to first dispute the claim in court, as the law requires.”…

Miami Herald Endorses House Candidate Who Claims Aliens Took Her Aboard A Spaceship – The Hill
.

.
The Miami Herald is endorsing a congressional candidate who claims to have communicated with aliens throughout her life and says extraterrestrials once visited her.

The newspaper on Sunday endorsed Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera, who is running as a Republican for Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s (R-Fla.) seat in the Republican primary for Florida’s 27th Congressional District. The newspaper called her “a strong candidate in the race with plausible conservative ideas.”

Rodriguez Aguilera said in a 2009 television interview that she boarded a spaceship occupied by aliens when she was 7. “I went in. There were some round seats that were there, and some quartz rocks that controlled the ship – not like airplanes,” Rodriguez said…

53 Major Earthquakes Just Hit The Ring Of Fire In A 24-Hour Period – Zero Hedge

Is something unusual starting to happen to the crust of our planet? The USGS defines any earthquake of at least magnitude 4.5 as “significant”, and there were 53 earthquakes that met that criteria along the Ring of Fire on Sunday alone.

Not too long ago, I wrote about how “Earth changes” seem to be accelerating all over the world, but even I was stunned by the ferocity of the seismic activity that we witnessed over the weekend. Because none of the earthquakes happened in the United States, the mainstream media almost entirely ignored this story, but that is a huge mistake.

The entire west coast of the U.S. falls along the “Ring of Fire”, and experts assure us that it is only a matter of time before the seismic tension that is building up along the tectonic plates in that area is released…

Trump To Roll Back Obama-Era Restrictions On Coal-Burning Power Plants – Fox News
.

.
The Trump administration is escalating an effort to revive the flagging U.S. coal industry with a planned move next week to replace restrictive Obama-era climate policies with new rules designed to help coal-burning plants run harder and stay open longer.

The proposed new rules, which the Environmental Protection Agency plans is expected to release within days, would be the latest in a series of reversals of policies the Obama administration adopted to slow climate change.

It would replace the agency’s so-called Clean Power Plan for the electricity business with regulations that cede power to states, and could ultimately lead to more heat-trapping gases going into the atmosphere even as it sets parameters to boost efficiency at coal-fired power plants…

Kevin Spacey’s Latest Film Bombs To Career-Low $618 Opening Weekend – Zero Hedge

Scandal-plagued actor Kevin Spacey’s latest film “Billionaire Boys Club” earned only $126 U.S. dollars in Friday’s debut, and only $618 for the entire weekend, marking a career low for the disgraced Hollywood star.

“Billionaire Boys Club” was filmed in 2015 and released with no publicity following a premium VOD release last month. The film brought in $126 dollars on Friday from eight locations. Four additional cinemas reported Sunday earnings, putting the final estimated weekend at $618, according to those with access to grosses.

Put another way, that’s a per location average of roughly $56 for the weekend. If going by the average 2018 ticket price to date of $9.27, that means about six people showed up at each theater, on average.

If the current national ticket price average of 9.27 dollars is used, that means that no more than 6 people bought tickets to see the crime drama…

Cape Cod Beach Closed Indefinitely As Even More Sharks Spotted In Waters Where 61-Year-Old Professor Was Attacked – Daily Mail
.

.
The Cape Cod beach where a New York professor was bit by a shark earlier this week has been indefinitely closed to swimming after more sharks were spotted in its waters. About 20 more confirmed and uncomfirmed accounts of shark sightings just 30 yards off shore have been reported since Thursday.

‘We have more shark activity,’ said Turo Town Manager Rae Ann Palmer, prompting the closure of Long Nook Beach until further notice. The beach near the tip of the Cape Cod peninsula was originally closed Wednesday after 61-year-old William Lytton, of Scarsdale, was attacked, suffering bites to his hip and legs.

According to the Cape Cod National Seashore, a great white shark was seen feeding in the waters off Race Point Beach in Provincetown…

An argument between two golfers at a Massachusetts golf club turned bloody Friday when one of the men bit off the other player’s finger, reports said.

Media Ignore Record Low ObamaCare Rate Hikes; Anyone Want To Guess Why? – Investor’s Business Daily

Democrats promised to make President Trump’s efforts to “sabotage” ObamaCare a big election issue this year. Then rate hikes for ObamaCare premiums started coming in well below expectations. Why isn’t this big news?

A few months ago, the Washington Post reported that Democrats were “centering their campaign to retake Congress… on a staunch defense of the Affordable Care Act.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared that “We Democrats are going to be relentless in making sure the American people exactly understand who is to blame” for-sky high rate hikes.

News outlets ran story after doomsday story about how efforts to undermine ObamaCare by Republicans and the Trump administration would cause a huge spike in premiums. The Congressional Budget Office predicted average premium increases of 15% for 2019 and blamed the Republicans’ repeal of the individual mandate for most of it…

U.S. Steel To Invest $750M At Indiana Plant Thanks To Trump Tariffs – Breitbart
.

.
U.S. Steel has announced that they will invest $750 million at their 110-year-old steel manufacturing plant known as Gary Works in Gary, Indiana, crediting President Trump’s protective tariffs on steel imports.

What was once the largest steel mill in the world will now get a $750 million facelift thanks to Trump’s 25 percent tariff on all imported steel into the United States, designed to protect American industries and jobs from being outsourced.

In a statement this week, U.S. Steel executives said they would be revitalizing the Indiana plant which employs about 3,800 American workers, the Chicago Tribune noted…

More Than 700,000 Overstayed Visas In 2017 – Washington Free Beacon

Around 700,000 people overstayed their temporary visas in fiscal year 2017, according to a recently released estimate from the Department of Homeland Security.

Six hundred thousand of these individuals are suspected to have remained in the country, according to DHS, while the other 100,000 or so simply departed after their visas expired. The 700,000 count represents a tiny fraction of the nearly 53 million people admitted to the United States in FY17.

However, it is 300,000 more people than the number apprehended trying to illegally cross the southwestern border for the same year, indicating that visa overstays represent a more serious source of illegal immigration than border crossers.

Visa overstays have been a priority of DHS under Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who introduced new measures regulating a key visa program last year. Nielsen argued at the time that tightened security for temporary visa holders was a vital tool for combatting terrorism…

Asia Argento, Weinstein Accuser, Paid Actor $380,000 Not To Sue Her Over Rape Claim – Washington Times
.

.
One of disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein’s first accusers, according to a New York Times report Sunday, had herself paid off an actor who had accused her of statutory rape.

Italian actress-director Asia Argento, in the months after accusations by her and other women felled Mr. Weinstein, reportedly agreed to pay actor-musician Jimmy Bennett $380,000 in exchange for his dropping any right to sue her for what characterized as a sexual assault by her in a California hotel in 2013. At that time, Mr. Bennett was 17 and under the legal age of consent in California. Ms. Argento was 37.

According to the Times, the claim of assault “and the subsequent arrangement for payments are laid out in documents between lawyers for Ms. Argento and Mr. Bennett…
