Facebook Has Lost $100 Billion In Value Since February – Verdict

.
Following another fall in the Facebook share price yesterday, the social media giant has now lost $100 billion from its market capitalisation from its peak on 2 February. This is more than the total market value of companies like Paypal ($91 billion) and Starbucks ($81 billion), and close to Netflix ($130 billion) and McDonald’s ($125 billion).

Facebook’s market cap peaked at $552 in early February before beginning its $100 billion slide. The vast majority of that value – around $80 billion – has been lost since 16 March, when the news broke that political consultancy Cambridge Analytica had allegedly harvested the data of 50 million Facebook users.

Nasty, 3 Foot Long Parasitic Worms Are On The Cusp Of Being Wiped From The Planet – Ars Technica
.
It all starts with a sip of water that’s contaminated with the worm’s larvae. Inside a human host, the larvae punch through the digestive tract, entering into the body cavity to quietly grow.

Within a few months, the male and female worms meet and mate. Then the males die off. The surviving female worms mature, reaching 60 to 100 centimeters (2 to 3 feet), and migrate into the victim’s muscles.

About 10 to 14 months after that tainted drink, the female worms burn through the skin by oozing acid, creating a searing blister. This can happen anywhere in the body, but it’s usually in the legs or feet.

Not coincidentally, dunking the blister in water eases the pain – and gives the female worm the opportunity to burst out of the wound and spew a milky slurry containing millions of larvae, which starts the cycle all over again.

From there, the victim can slowly try to pull the worm out….

Clintons Received Cash From ‘Cult’ Leaders Who Brainwashed Sex Slaves – WorldNetDaily
.

.
It’s a bizarre and twisted tale of brainwashed sex “slaves” who were branded with a leader’s initials on their private parts – and top executives of the secretive group in upstate New York reportedly pumped thousands of dollars into Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Keith Raniere, co-founder of NXIVM, was arrested Monday in Mexico and extradited to the U.S., where he is being charged with sex trafficking. He appeared in court Tuesday in Texas and signed a waiver for U.S. Marshals to bring him back to New York.

On Tuesday, the FBI raided the Albany home of Nancy Salzman, 63, a registered nurse and hypnotist who is president of NXIVM. The organization describes itself as a “community guided by humanitarian principles that seek to empower people and answer important questions about what it means to be human.”…

Beijing has confirmed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has visited China to hold talks with President Xi Jinping, in his first foreign visit since taking power.

The announcement corroborated speculation which was sparked when a train similar to the one the dictator’s father used was spotted making a round-trip to Beijing.

Xi held talks with Kim at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and he and his wife Peng Liyuan hosted a banquet for Kim and his wife Ri Sol Ju.

‘I have had successful talks with General Secretary Xi Jinping on developing relations between the two parties and the two countries, our respective domestic situation, maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and other issues,’ Kim said at the banquet.

Kim also committed to denuclearisation in Korea if the United States and the South showed ‘goodwill’, it was reported, with China agreeing to support its neighbour if nuclear tensions could be eased…

NRA PAC Donations More Than Tripled In February – Washington Free Beacon

Donations to the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) political action committee more than tripled in February in comparison to its contributions from January, filings show.

The donations increased as liberal activists, politicians, and celebrities have called for more gun control measures and singled out the NRA and Republican politicians who have received support from the group following the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 dead.

Speakers at the “March for Our Lives” rally this past Saturday in Washington, D.C., continued the push by calling for an AR-15 ban and restrictions on “high capacity magazines.”

Supporters of the NRA appear to have responded by infusing more money into the organization’s political action committee. The NRA’s Political Victory Fund, the group’s PAC, experienced a nearly five-fold increase in itemized donations immediately following the attack, according to the Center for Responsive Politics…

Rocker Who Survived Terrorist Attack At Paris Nightclub Calls Anti-Gun Marchers “Disgusting Vile Abusers Of The Dead” – Fox News
.

.
The lead singer of Eagles of Death Metal – the band that was performing during the 2015 Paris nightclub attack – took to social media Sunday to criticize March for Our Lives participants and called student organizers “vile abusers of the dead.”

Jesse Hughes, 45 – the lead singer who once said “until nobody has a gun everyone has to” – posted the rant on Instagram.

“Obviously… The best thing to do to combat chronic abusers and disregarders of the law (like the law against Murder) is to… pass another Law,” Hughes wrote in a series of Instagram posts that have since been deleted, Rolling Stone reported. “But before we pass this law we’re going to denigrate the memory and curse ourselves by exploiting the death of 16 of our fellow students for a few Facebook likes and some media attention.”…

Leftist Teacher Who Led Unauthorized Anti-Cop Walkout, Endangered Kids By Telling Then To Lie Down In Middle Of Street – Blue Lives Matter

A middle school teacher who led students on an unauthorized school walkout and told them to lie down in a busy intersection was put on administrative leave on Friday, school officials said.

Ockley Green Middle School social studies teacher Chris Riser and Black Lives Matter activist Teressa Raiford led a student assembly on the morning of Feb. 9, KATU reported. During the assembly, Riser told the students that he was going to leave the school to walk towards the police department, where he planned to meet with the family of a Quanice Hayes.

Hayes was fatally shot by police after officers cornered the armed robbery and carjacking suspect. Officers ordered him to lay on the ground with his hands out, and he instead reached for the small of his back, and the front of his waistband. A black air pistol was recovered on scene. A grand jury later determined that the shooting was justified.

During Riser’s march, he said that he wanted the students to come with him, but that he had to leave them behind, and not to come, seventh-grader Harmony Mahoney told KATU…

Foxconn Buys Peripheral Maker Belkin For $866 Million – TechCrunch

Foxconn, best known for manufacturing practically everything in the world, has just announced the purchase of Belkin, the PC peripherals company, for $866 million in cash. That certainly makes it one of the larger consumer electronics acquisitions in recent memory.

You probably know Belkin for its various lines of accessories, peripherals, and assorted consumer electronics; Linksys, surely the most recognizable router brand, is a subsidiary. Wemo and Phyn might also ring a bell.

The purchase is likely aimed at giving Foxconn a foothold of its own in the peripherals and networked devices market. Belkin’s CEO and founder (35 years on), Chet Pipkin, will continue to operate the company as a wholly owned subsidiary and may join Foxconn’s management team.

No indication was given that Belkin’s companies would change much, either in makeup or in product lineup. I asked both companies for more details, and got a polite no comment in record time…

.

.
Texas and more than a dozen other states led by Republican governors are supporting the Trump administration in its lawsuit over California’s so-called sanctuary laws that protect people in the U.S. illegally.

In a court filing Monday, the states say the laws are designed to interfere with or block federal immigration enforcement, and California doesn’t have that authority.

The U.S. Justice Department is challenging three California laws, including one that bars law enforcement from providing release dates for people in jail.

Federal officials say they need the kind of information California has blocked to take custody of people in the country illegally who are dangerous and need to be removed…

Trump Exempts South Korea From Steel Import Tariff – Fox Business

The Trump administration detailed a trade deal that it reached with South Korea on Monday, which permanently exempts the U.S. ally from newly implemented steel tariffs, but maintains a quota on imports from the country.

The quota on South Korean steel imports is 2.68 million tons of steel per year, or 70% of its annual average sale to the U.S. over the past three years.

In exchange for the exemption, South Korea will open its markets to U.S.-manufactured autos, expanding the number of cars it imports per manufacturer to 50,000, from 25,000.

Meanwhile, the U.S. will extend a tariff on pickup trucks, which was set to expire in 2021, for an additional two decades. The 25% tariff impacts prominent South Korean auto manufacturers, including Hyundai and Kia. South Korea has also been impacted by the Trump administration’s decision in January to impose steep tariffs and quotas on imported washing machines…
