Man’s Car Explodes After He Sprays Aerosol Deodorant, Lights Cigarette – WJZ

A car exploded in Woodlawn Thursday morning when a man sprayed aerosol deodorant inside and then lit a cigarette, officials say. The impact blew the doors off, separated the roof from the top of the car and blew out the windshield. It also damaged a nearby car.

Police say the man is lucky to be alive and conscious, although he was taken to the hospital with minor burns. It happened in the 1600 block of Whitehead Court in front of The Restaurant Store.

The Restaurant Store manager told WJZ’s Devin Bartolotta that the driver was a frequent customer. He was the one who rushed outside to call 911 when he heard the explosion.

“Inside, working, taking care of customers and we just heard a loud explosion-type boom,” Jeff Heckel said. “There was no flames or anything, just a very loud explosion. Shook the building.”

“The aerosolized deodorant was inside of the car, created a flammable atmosphere, which he was not aware of, and then when he lit his cigarette, he created a spark…

A Speech by Virginia Delegate Nick Freitas, the liberty-minded conservative who is challenging Senator Tim Kaine, discussing the importance of the Second Amendment has been viewed over five million times in the past 24 hours.

Friday’s speech by Freitas before the Virginia House of Delegates lead to many Democrats actually walking out and demanding a recess so that they could calm down because they were so outraged.

The Washington Post reports that after Democrats settled down, Del. Joseph Lindsey (D-Norfolk) told the House that “today, I have been offended as I can never recall since being a part of this body…

Google Recruits Left-Wing Extremist Group To Police YouTube Videos For Extremist Content – Daily Caller

The Southern Poverty Law Center is assisting YouTube in policing content on their platform, The Daily Caller has learned.

The left-wing nonprofit – which has more recently come under fire for labeling legitimate conservative organizations as “hate groups” – is one of the more than 100 nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and government agencies in YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers” program, a source with knowledge of the arrangement told TheDC.

The SPLC and other program members help police YouTube for extremist content, ranging from so-called hate speech to terrorist recruiting videos.

All of the groups in the program have confidentiality agreements, a spokesperson for Google, YouTube’s parent company, previously told TheDC. A handful of YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers,” including the Anti-Defamation League and No Hate Speech – a European organization focused on combatting intolerance – have gone public with their participation in the program…

Marshall Islands Creates Its Own Cryptocurrency To Pay Bills, Boost Economy – Toronto Star
.

.
The tiny Marshall Islands is creating its own digital currency in order to raise some hard cash to pay bills and boost the economy.

The Pacific island nation said it became the first country in the world to recognize a cryptocurrency as its legal tender when it passed a law this past week to create the digital “Sovereign,” or SOV. In the nation of 60,000, the cryptocurrency will have equal status with the U.S. dollar as a form of payment.

Venezuela last month became the first country to launch its own cryptocurrency when it launched the virtual Petro, backed by crude oil reserves. The Marshall Islands said the SOV will be different because it will be recognized in law as legal tender, effectively backed by the government…

Aerosol Huffer Arrested 10 Times Since September Kills Trucker While Driving Impaired – Miami Herald

A North Carolina woman arrested twice in January for allegedly huffing aerosol cans in Marathon is now reportedly facing a felony death charge in her home state.

According to the News Reporter newspaper in Whiteville, N.C., Jill Hardie Taylor, 37 is being held on a charge of felony death by vehicle for a fiery wreck that killed a truck driver Feb. 18, among other impaired driving charges.

Rick Dale Crocker, 49, the founder of a substance-abuse recovery ministry, died in the cab of his 18-wheeler after apparently trying to avoid a collision with Taylor’s Hyundai, according to the story and other news reports. Taylor was not injured, although her car was reportedly totaled in the crash.

Just days before the wreck, she was arrested in two separate incidents in North Carolina for driving while impaired, multiple traffic violations, reckless driving with wanton disregard for human life, resisting a public officer and inhaling vapors, according to the News Reporter…

Turkey Is Turning Into The Next Pakistan – Eli Lake
.

.
There isn’t much that Turkey’s president can do these days to further debase his reputation in the West. Recep Tayyip Erdogan has crushed peaceful protests at home and abroad, closed newspapers, threatened American soldiers, and collectively scapegoated Kurds. But over the weekend, Erdogan managed to go even lower.

At a rally at Kahramanmaras, the Turkish leader brought a trembling 6-year-old girl on stage dressed in military garb and told her she would be honored if she died as a martyr. He sounded like a terrorist. We expect this kind of child abuse from the fanatics in Hamas or Hezbollah. Erdogan though is the leader of an important NATO ally.

Turkey is beginning to resemble Pakistan, a perpetually failing state whose military leadership has tolerated and advanced a vision of political Islam…

Trump Threatens EU With Tax On Car Imports, Slams ‘Very Stupid’ Trade Deals – Politico

President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened the European Union with increased taxes on automobile imports while slamming the “very stupid trade deals and policies” struck by his predecessors, as his administration continues to defend his decision this week to impose unilateral tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

“The United States has an $800 Billion Dollar Yearly Trade Deficit because of our “very stupid” trade deals and policies,” the president wrote on Twitter. “Our jobs and wealth are being given to other countries that have taken advantage of us for years. They laugh at what fools our leaders have been. No more!”

He added: “If the E.U. wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S,” Trump added. “They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!”…

Devin Nunes Drops A MOAB On The Russia Investigation, Claims There Is Evidence Of Collusion – Daily Caller
.

.
Republican Rep. Devin Nunes of California shared some startling news about the Russia investigation Saturday, claiming there was clear evidence of collusion on Fox News’ “Cavuto Live.”

Nunes said he welcomes more investigators to look into Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court abuses and said he is glad the Inspector General is getting involved.

“We have a media that pretty much refuses to cover this issue at all. We have serious abuses that occurred in the FISA court against the Trump campaign,” Nunes said. “We continue to get facts. We will bring those facts forward as we see them.”

Nunes said there is evidence of collusion, but added it occurred between the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton…

ICE Nets 232 in Northern California Raid As White House Blasts Oakland Mayor – Breitbart

Federal law enforcement officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have arrested 232 people since Sunday in the San Francisco Bay Area after a sweep for illegal aliens.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now reportedly investigating Democratic Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who tipped the public off about the raids in what ICE claims “created another magnet for more illegal immigration.”

Oakland, like many cities in California, has declared itself a sanctuary city and a hub for illegal immigrants. Those arrested were reportedly suspected of violating immigration laws.

Fox News noted that the four-day raid, which ended on Wednesday, was “the second in California since a statewide sanctuary law took effect in January. Agents arrested more than 200 people last month in the Los Angeles area.”

The Los Angeles Times noted, “Of those [arrested], 115 had prior convictions for “serious or violent” crimes or “significant or multiple” misdemeanors…

Frederick Demond Scott, a 23-year-old black man, is now charged in the murders of five white men and one white woman in total, although investigators and prosecutors have not discussed a motive for the killings.

After the indictments, Scott faces a total of six counts of first-degree murder and six counts of armed criminal action in a string of killings that began in August 2016.

Scott was indicted Friday in the deaths of David Lenox, 67, Timothy Rice, 57, and Michael Darby, 61…

Thousands Sign Petition Asking Trump To Let White Farmers From South Africa Migrate To U.S. After Country Votes To Force Them Off Land – Newsweek

More than 12,000 people have signed a petition asking President Donald Trump to let white people in South Africa emigrate to the U.S. amid a vote by the country’s parliament favoring a motion that could see South Africa’s constitution amended to allow for land to be stripped from owners without any compensation.

The motion, which will still need the approval of the South African Parliament’s Constitutional Review Committee before an amendment can even be drafted, has once again stoked fears among the country’s white farmers of a violent and disastrous land redistribution akin to that which crippled Zimbabwe in the 2000s.

The online petition calls on Trump to “take the steps necessary to initiate an emergency immigration plan allowing white Boers to come to the United States.” Boer is the term used to describe South Africans of Dutch, German or Huguenot descent, who are also commonly referred to as Afrikaners…

USDA Report: Nearly 36,000 Retailers Engaged In Food Stamp Fraud To The Tune Of More Than $1 Billion – Washington Standard

This is just among the plethora of examples as to why it is immoral to have a “safety net” out of DC, not to mention the fact that it’s completely unconstitutional to do so.

A report out of the U.S. Department of Agriculture reveals that 35,891 food retailers across the country engaged in food stamps fraud to the tune of more than $1 billion over three years from 2012 to 2014.

According to the report, “During 2012 to 2014, the rate of trafficking was 1.5 percent of total SNAP benefits, an increase from the estimate of 1.3 percent in the 2009-2011 study. Much of this increase is due to growth in the number of SNAP-authorized smaller stores that have a higher rate of trafficking.”

“Trafficking is defined as buying or selling benefits for cash or consideration other than eligible food, and the penalty is permanent disqualification,” the report reads. “Permanent disqualification occurs when a retailer’s authorization to redeem SNAP benefits is revoked.”

Reports: DOJ Inspector General To Accuse Outgoing FBI Deputy Director McCabe Of Leaking, Misleading Investigators – Breitbart
.

.
Department of Justice Inspector General (DOJ-IG) Michael Horowitz’s long-awaited report will accuse outgoing FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe of improper leaking to the press and deliberately misleading DOJ-IG investigators, according to Thursday reporting in the New York Times and Washington Post.

The New York Times broke McCabe’s alleged leaking to the media first. According to their “four people familiar with the inquiry,” Horowitz’s report will accuse McCabe of authorizing the leaks that led to an October 2016 piece in the Wall Street Journal that revealed on ongoing dispute about how to handle the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails that had just been reopened by the discoveries on disgraced Congressman Anthony Wiener’s laptop…

Decision By Dick’s Sporting Goods And Walmart To Stop Selling Certain Firearms To Adults Under 21 Is Probably Illegal – Law And Crime

Dick’s Sporting Goods and Walmart made waves in recent days by offering olive branches to gun control advocates. Effective immediately for Dick’s and “as quickly as possible” for Walmart, the two big-box retailers have pledged to stop selling certain types of rifles, ammunition, and shotguns to adults under the age of 21. In some states, however, that’s likely not to be legal.

To begin, this analysis has nothing to do with the Second Amendment because the Bill of Rights is typically interpreted to limit and constrain government action. Dick’s and Walmart are private companies and the Second Amendment has nothing to say about their decision to curtail a class of buyers from purchasing a class of products.

All state laws, however, have quite a bit to say about what private businesses can and cannot do under specific and delineated circumstances.

Of major relevance here: many states and jurisdictions have age discrimination provisions written into their public accommodation laws…

Poll: 82% Of Dems Favor Banning All Semiautomatic Weapons, Evenly Split On Banning All Guns – Hot Air
.

.
YouGov asked people whether they favor or oppose banning semiautomatic weapons. Note: Not semiautomatic rifles, which some might incorrectly but understandably treat as a question about AR-15s or “assault weapons.” YouGov asked about semiautomatic weapons. That means handguns too.

Overall Americans are at 55/33, with even Republicans at a surprisingly narrow 37/53 in opposition.

YouGov should have followed up by asking people to define “semiautomatic” and presenting them with four possible definitions. I’d be curious to see what percentage answered correctly. Instead they followed up by asking how people feel about banning all handguns (except those issued to officers of the state, of course!), which would include revolvers…

Not A Single CNN Show Is In The Top 20 For Cable News – Daily Caller

CNN’s ratings are continuing their fall, with many viewers choosing to watch other cable news channels like MSNBC or Fox News instead.

Forbes reports:

“CNN had significant declines in February, with ratings dropping 19% in total day and 16% in prime, where the network returned an average audience of 979,000 total viewers–behind MSNBC (1.805 million) and Fox News (2.766 million).”

According to one measure, not a single CNN show even cracked the top 20 for viewers in weekday cable news in February.

Many of CNN’s commentators have been consistent critics of President Trump and his policies. Fox News’ Sean Hannity, meanwhile, is the ratings king, with Tucker Carlson right behind him.

The one show that did get into the top 25 was “Anderson Cooper 360,”…

FBI Denies Secret Comey-Obama Meeting Raises Integrity And Public Trust Issues – Daily Caller

The FBI states it will not expedite the release of documents about secret meetings between FBI Director James Comey and former President Barack Obama, according to a letter the bureau sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Such information is not “a matter of widespread and exceptional media interest in which there exists possible questions about the government’s integrity which affects public confidence,” David Hardy, the section chief for the bureau’s Record/Information Dissemination Section, told TheDCNF in a Feb. 26 letter.

TheDCNF, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), requested records of all meetings between Comey and Obama and sought an “expedited process” as provided under the act when issues are of great interest to the media and the records address issues pertaining to government integrity. TheDCNF FOIA request was filed Feb. 16, 2018.

The issue prompting the FOIA request was the disclosure Comey held a secret Oval Office meeting with Obama on Jan. 5, 2017…

Another Promise Kept: Trump To Slap Tariffs On Steel, Aluminum – Washington Times
.

.
After a year of thrilling skeptical conservatives with an economic agenda of tax cuts and deregulation, President Trump veered sharply away from his free market supporters Thursday by announcing plans to slap big tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

Mr. Trump said he would sign into law next week tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum. The levels are in line with Commerce Department recommendations after a 10-month investigation determined that those imports threaten national security.

The tariffs were necessary to combat foreign countries’ dumping of steel and aluminum in the U.S., said Mr. Trump, who blamed unfair trade practices for wiping out domestic production and helping ship manufacturing jobs abroad…

Trump, Pence ‘Don’t Want Gun Control,’ NRA’s Chief Lobbyist Says After Meeting – Fox News

Just one day after putting the NRA on the defensive with stunning televised comments, President Trump has signaled in an Oval Office meeting that he doesn’t want gun control, according to the NRA’s top lobbyist.

Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, tweeted late Thursday that “POTUS & VPOTUS support the Second Amendment, support strong due process and don’t want gun control.”

About an hour later, Trump appeared to endorse Cox’s version of events with a tweet of his own: “Good (Great) meeting in the Oval Office tonight with the NRA!”

On Wednesday, Trump shocked observers during a televised discussion with bipartisan lawmakers by appearing to endorse extreme gun control measures.

“Take the guns first. Go through due process second,” Trump said. “I like taking the guns early.”…
