So, when I woke up this morning, I went to Bing to scan for headlines, and found that the “Sean Hannity pointed a gun at Juan Williams” story is still being prominently pushed by our media. CNN is sticking by their story, and defends its muckraking. This despite the fact that Hannity says it never happened.
“While discussing the issue of firearms, I showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only,” Hannity said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
“Every precautionary procedure that I have been trained in since the age of 11 was followed. I’ve had a conceal carry permit in five states for all of my adult life. Any other interpretation of this is outright false reporting.”
Of course, given the left’s deep irrational fear of firearms, and given that the media is overwhelmingly to the left, such hand-wringing and hyperventilation is to be expected. But the story, is a non story. Not because Hannity, the accused denies it, but because Williams says it never happened
Yes, despite the fact that there is no there there, media outlets are still running with this bogus story. From what both Hannity and Williams say it sounds like one man showed another a firearm in a safe and responsible manner. Of course to the left-leaning media, there is no such thing as gun safety because guns = evil. But the media’s collective bed-wetting is not the biggest takeaway from this. Their shoddy, agenda-driven reporting is. Every day at work, there is CNN, no I do not decide to put it on, regurgitating the same stories that most Americans care nothing about. “No evidence Obama wiretapped Trump”. “Paul Ryan says no evidence of Trump being wiretapped”. The media even tried to revive the long discredited Hands up Don’t Shoot lies about Mike Brown this past week.
Anything to discredit Trump I guess. Sorry that is not the media’s job. Their job is to report. Their job is to illuminate the truth, not editorialize. I understand, of course, that the media does not like to be accused of bias, and pushing slanted, or even fake news. I understand they are angry over this. They are angry over the public perception of their work. But, they do nothing to stop doing exactly what they are accused of. If and when the media ever wants to reform their image, they need to start by finding a mirror, and taking a very long look at themselves.
