President Obama called Hillary Clinton the most qualified candidate evah! I would say she is the one of the most undeserving of such an honor. Mike McDaniel reminds us that if her lips are moving………
In her recent interview with Chris Wallace, the one where she famously lied, saying FBI Head James Comey called her many lies to the American people “consistent and truthful,”Hillary Clinton also claimed that the majority of Americans want the kind of “common sense gun safety” she has promised to work every day to obtain. As with Barack Obama, the surest way to determine whether Hillary Clinton is lying is to confirm that her lips are moving:
The Washington Post’s Kessler awarded her ‘four Pinnochios,’ and noted, ‘Comey has repeatedly not taken a stand on her public statements.’
John Hinderaker of Powerline comments on her gun control scheming:
More gun control has never been a winning issue for the Democrats–not on the national stage, anyway. It recent years it has been used mostly as a means of whipping up the Democrats’ base, but conventions are staged for a broader audience, and I take seriously Hillary’s statements to the effect that it is a key part of her agenda. Apparently the Democrats are heartened by recent polls indicating that support for anti-gun measures is growing. This shouldn’t be surprising, given the extraordinary publicity accorded to every ‘shooter’ incident.
As Mark Twain said, “there are lies, damned lies and statistics.” Gun control polls can be, and routinely are, worded and applied so as to obtain predetermined results.
Indeed they are, and no doubt guns, particularly YOUR guns are the number one long term target of the Left, and as I always say, and as McDaniel notes here, the Left will never stop pushing for their aims, because CONTROL of YOU is their long term aim.
The disarmament of the law-abiding American public, like universal health care–Obamacare–is a never-ending goal of progressives. They worked relentlessly for more than a century to get Obamacare, a law based entirely on lies, yet they continue to claim it a wonderful gift to the American people even as they continue to advocate a “single payer” system. Some honest progressives–nearly an oxymoron–admit Obamacare is a lie and a failure, but as is always the case, no progressive policy can possibly be wrong. As a result, they advocate for more of the policy, in effect longer, applied much more rigidly and fervently, and that far more money be spent. Only then will the wonders of universal health care be manifest. With this in mind, it’s easy to understand that gun control is a reflexive feature of progressivism. It is never far from the minds of progressives, even if they aren’t mentioning it in every speech. They are willing to wait for a century or more for an overwhelmingly Democrat Congress, or better yet, for an unassailable progressive majority on the Supreme Court.
Why do they see disarmament as a priority? Because the Second Amendment truly is the provision of the Constitution they fear most. As long as Americans keep and bear arms, progressive’s ultimate desires for domination can never be realized. Their desires have nothing to do with keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists; their sights are eternally set on law-abiding Americans, people that represent a threat only to tyrants, and only during the hard tyranny phase of their seizure of absolute power. The most recent proof of this is Mr. Obama’s commutation of the sentences of at least 60 felons, all convicted of violating federal firearm laws. It is a truism, but nonetheless true: criminals don’t obey gun control laws.
Those who do actual research know full well that both violent crime and homicide rates have been falling for 25 years in America, even as more Americans buy guns, and carry guns. So, the fact is more guns have NOT led to more crime. In fact the opposite is the case. Millions of Americans now carry firearms, and yet, violent crimes are falling.
During President Obama’s administration, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared to over 14.5 million – a 215% increase since 2007. Among the findings of our report:
■ The increase in the number of concealed handgun permits last year set another record, increasing by 1.73 million. That is slightly greater than previous record of 1.69 million set the last year.
■ 6.06% of the total adult population has a permit.
■ In ten states, more than 10% of adults have concealed handgun permits. Indiana has the highest rate — 15%. South Dakota is close behind with 14.7%.
■ Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas each have over a million residents who are
active permit holders.
■ In another 11 states, a permit is no longer required to carry in all or virtually all of the state. Thus the growth in permits does not provide a full picture of the overall increase in concealed carry.
■ Between 2012 and 2016, in states that provide data by gender, the number of women with permits has increased twice as quickly as the number of men with permits.
■ Some evidence suggests that permit-holding is increasing about 75% more quickly among minorities than among whites.
■ Between 2007 and 2015, murder rates fell from 5.6 to 4.7 (preliminary estimate) per 100,000. This represents a 16% drop. Overall violent crime fell by 18 percent. Meanwhile, the percentage of adults with permits has soared by 190%.
Understand that the Left knows this too, so they know that there is a good chance that gun bans, etc. would increase crime. But, simply put they do not care. Individual rights, and lives are not paramount in the Left’s grand scheme. Installing Collectivism is. Study the history of Collectivism AKA Marxism, it is a story of Democide, and human degradation.
In 1928 Stalin abandoned Lenin’s quasi-capitalist New Economic Policy in favour of headlong state-organized industrialization under a succession of five-year plans. This was, in effect, a new Russian revolution more devastating in its effects than those of 1917. The dictator’s blows fell most heavily on the peasantry, some 25 million rustic households being compelled to amalgamate in collective or state farms within a few years. Resisting desperately, the reluctant muzhiks were attacked by troops andOGPU (political police) units. Uncooperative peasants, termed kulaks, were arrested en masse, being shot, exiled, or absorbed into the rapidly expanding network of Stalinist concentration camps and worked to death under atrocious conditions. Collectivization also caused a great famine in Ukraine. Yet Stalin continued to export the grain stocks that a less cruel leader would have rushed to the famine-stricken areas. Some 10 million peasants may have perished through his policies during these years.
Mao and other Communist leaders set out to reshape Chinese society. Industry came under state ownership and China’s farmers began to be organised into collectives. All opposition was ruthlessly suppressed. The Chinese initially received significant help from the Soviet Union, but relations soon began to cool.
In 1958, in an attempt to introduce a more ‘Chinese’ form of communism, Mao launched the ‘Great Leap Forward’. This aimed at mass mobilisation of labour to improve agricultural and industrial production. The result, instead, was a massive decline in agricultural output, which, together with poor harvests, led to famine and the deaths of millions. The policy was abandoned and Mao’s position weakened.
In an attempt to re-assert his authority, Mao launched the ‘Cultural Revolution’ in 1966, aiming to purge the country of ‘impure’ elements and revive the revolutionary spirit. One-and-a-half million people died and much of the country’s cultural heritage was destroyed. In September 1967, with many cities on the verge of anarchy, Mao sent in the army to restore order.
In late 1934—just when the worst excesses of Stalinism seemed to have spent themselves—the Secretary General launched a new campaign of political terror against the very Communist Party members who had brought him to power; his pretext was the assassination, in Leningrad on December 1, of his leading colleague and potential rival, Sergey Kirov. That Stalin himself had arranged Kirov’s murder—as an excuse for the promotion of mass bloodshed—was strongly hinted by Nikita Khrushchev, first secretary of the party, in a speech denouncing Stalin at the 20th Party Congress in 1956.
Stalin used the show trial of leading Communists as a means for expanding the new terror. In August 1936, Zinovyev and Kamenev were paraded in court to repeat fabricated confessions, sentenced to death, and shot; two more major trials followed, in January 1937 and March 1938. In June 1937, Marshal Mikhail Tukhachevsky, at the time the most influential military personality, and other leading generals were reported as court-martialed on charges of treason and executed.
Such were the main publicly acknowledged persecutions that empowered Stalin to tame the Soviet Communist Party and the Soviet elite as a whole. He not only “liquidated” veteran semi-independent Bolsheviks but also many party bosses, military leaders, industrial managers, and high government officials totally subservient to himself. Other victims included foreign Communists on Soviet territory and members of the very political police organization, now called the NKVD. All other sections of the Soviet elite—the arts, the academic world, the legal and diplomatic professions—also lost a high proportion of victims, as did the population at large, to a semi-haphazard, galloping persecution that fed on extorted denunciations and confessions. These implicated even more victims until Stalin himself reduced the terror, though he never abandoned it. Stalin’s political victims were numbered in tens of millions. His main motive was, presumably, to maximize his personal power.
Pol Pot. The name is synonymous with horror.
Even in the blood-drenched annals of twentieth-century history, Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia stands out for the sheer scale and senselessness of its atrocities. In the name of creating an agrarian communist revolution, Pol Pot and his underlings killed at least 1.5 million of their own people in the infamous Killing Fields. They wiped out between 1/4 and 1/5 of the country’s entire population.
In the name of agrarian communism, the Khmer Rouge decided to completely and immediately remake Cambodian society as a utopian farming nation, free of all foreign influence and the trappings of modernity. They immediately abolished all private property, and seized all products of field or factory. The people who lived in cities and towns – some 3.3 million – were driven out to work in the countryside. They were labeled “depositees,” and were given very short rations with the intention of starving them to death. When party leader Hou Youn objected to the emptying of Phnom Penh, Pol Pot labeled him a traitor; Hou Youn disappeared.
Pol Pot’s regime targeted intellectuals – including anyone with an education, or with foreign contacts – as well as anyone from the middle or upper classes. Such people were tortured horrifically, including by electrocution, pulling out of finger and toenails, and being skinned alive, before they were killed. All of the doctors, the teachers, the Buddhist monks and nuns, and the engineers died. All of the national army’s officers were executed.
Love, sex and romance were outlawed, and the state had to approve marriages. Anyone caught being in love or having sex without official permission was executed. Children were not allowed to go to school or to play – they were expected to work, and would be summarily killed if they balked.
Along with the three previous examples, Hitler (yes, Fascism IS of the Left), Castro, and others slaughtered, starved, worked to death, and tortured well over 100,000,000 souls. And yes, most of those victims were disarmed. Totalitarians understand that removing the most basic human right, that of self-defense makes their perverse pursuit of a Marxist Utopia easier.
Go read the rest folks, McDaniel lays the truth out about Hillary, the Left, and gun
