Figuring out the Michelle Fields/Corey Lewandowski fiasco

Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields claims she was manhandled while trying to ask a question of Donald Trump. Naturally, a certain amount of publicity over this began. The man Fields accused, Corey Lewandowski, denied that he grabbed and yanked Fields, and launched some very nasty remarks about Field’s character. At the same time, he pretty much admitted an altercation between the two did happen, using the excuse that he did not know Fields was a Brietbart reporter. Trump also claimed such an incident never happened. Now video of the incident has emerged, and it does not support the claims of the Trump camp.In the video, you can see Lewandowski reaching towards Field’s left arm, and you can see her being yanked backwards. Check it out

In the video, right after Fields is yanked, by someone, Washington Post reporter Ben Terris, who witnessed the incident seems to confront Lewandowski. The Trump campaign has changed its tune, saying that Fields likely was grabbed, just not by Lewandowski

Contrary to what Donald Trump said Thursday evening after the GOP debate, the incident certainly happened. However, the person who made contact with Fields was likely not Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

As Trump campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson said Thursday on the Fox Business Network, “someone probably did grab her,” i.e. Fields, though Pierson claimed it could not have been Lewandowski.

Audio of the incident, published on Politico, shows Fields asking Terris if the individual who pulled her left arm was, in fact, “Corey.” Terris says it was — an assertion he laterrepeated in print: “I watched as a man with short-cropped hair and a suit grabbed her arm and yanked her out of the way. He was Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s 41-year-old campaign manager.”

However, Lewandowski was not the only “man with short-cropped hair and a suit” walking near Trump. And he was walking on the opposite side of Trump from Fields, and Terris.

A photograph by Washington Post photographer Jabin Botsford, Terris’s colleague, released by ABC News World News Tonight, and taken seconds before the altercation took place, shows two men with short-cropped hair.

Again, the videos are clear that Lewandowski did reach towards Fields, but do not show any actual contact, so it is possible someone else jerked her backwards. That of course, would not make it any better. Terris, sticks to his story

For his part, Terris isn’t budging. “I saw what I saw,” said Terris in a brief chat with this blog. During the whole incident, says Terris, he had his “eyes trained on Corey Lewandowski,” because Terris was there to profile the campaign team with a focus on Lewandowski. Terris took strong issue with Pollak’s assertion that mistaken identity is the “likeliest explanation” based in part on Lewandowski’s denials. “Because he denied it?” asked Terris. “This is Breitbart.”

Moonbattery has more

Despite having reportedly admitted that he manhandled reporter Michelle Fields at a Trump event in Florida Tuesday, Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski now proclaims that this never occurred, and that Fields is a liar:

However, the incident was well documented. From the transcript of an audio recording:

[Reporter Ben] Terris: “He really just almost threw you down on the ground.”

Fields: “He literally went like this and was grabbing me down. I don’t even what to do [about] what he just did to me. Oh my God, that really spooked me that someone would do that.”

Terris: “What threat were you?”

Fields: “Nothing. I was asking about affirmative action.”

Terris: “And he probably knows you, right?”

Fields: “Yeah, I don’t understand. That looks horrible. You’re going after a Breitbart reporter, the people who are nicest to you?”

Terris gives his eye witness report of the incident at the Washington Post.

To put it mildly, Fields is correct that Breitbart (a.k.a. “Trumpbart”) is nice to Trump — so nice that at first they barely objected to his consigliere roughing up their female reporter. Now Breitbart is basically siding with Lewandowski against Fields and Terris.

Lewandowski has launched a campaign to discredit Fields (see here, here, and here), similar to the way Shrillary et al. would smear the subjects of Slick Willie’s bimbo eruptions.

There is more at Victory Girls as well.

Y’all can decide for yourselves folks. It is pretty clear to me that someone, grabbed this young lady, and whoever did should be fired immediately
