Offendeditis Outbreak after students learn something on Veterans’ Day

Via Bob Owens at Bearing Arms, and good for the principal for standing strong

Charlotte’s NBC outlet is pushing their anti-gun, anti-military agenda using the excuse of one middle school parent who was angry that a Rock Hill, SC Middle School Veterans Day appearance by active duty soldiers featured several unloaded military weapons.

The principal of Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill is defending the decision to let students hold military weapons during a Veterans Day program at the school last week.

A parent complained after pictures of two students holding weapons were posted on the eighth grade school blog.

In each picture a member of the military is next to the student.

The parent thought, that in light of recent school shootings, it was inappropriate.

Principal Brenda Campbell disagreed.

“Those guns are completely no ammo. They had been checked out by the military themselves, who brought them into our school,” Campbell said.

She said it was all part of a larger Veterans Day program, where students could learn military history and meet and talk with real members of the military and with elderly veterans.

“It is kind of hard to teach students about veterans, and the military, and the history of patriotism without there being some weapons involved,” said Campbell.

I cannot believe it, some actual common sense in a school! Now, as Bob also points out, North Carolina grocers are also standing up to anti-gun nut cases!

In North Carolina, you’ve been able to open carry or concealed carry a handgun in most stores, including grocery stores, for years.

The Gunwire has found must-see video of two self-important, self-absorbed gun haters who are boycotting a local grocery chain, Harris-Teeter, because one of them was angry that her local store manager didn’t kick out an open carrier who was peacefully shopping.

The duo’s protests has been largely ignored, and they’ve responded by saying they aren’t going to shop in any grocery stores where guns are allowed.

Idiots!

  1. I don’t believe they’re idiots so much as self-centered and self-interested in trying to gain a position in their community by protesting the fact another citizen was willing to stand before any assailant might endanger people within that “open-carry” participant’s influence. My suggestion is they feel free to shop wherever they wish, but I suggest, if the store does NOT allow open carry, that store should be required to post a sign saying they DO NOT allow open carry by their shoppers. If they believe in a no-firearms policy, they should be forced to advertise their availability for robbery, looting and plundering.
Let’s see how well THAT goes over.
