Carl Jacquneaux, a 43-year-old Lafayette Parish resident was jailed Saturday after he allegedly chomped off part of a man’s face.
According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jacquneaux reportedly attacked 48-year-old Todd Credeur outside his own residence while he was working in the yard.
Jacquneaux then bit Credeur in his face, removing a large chunk of flesh below his left eye. The victim was able to escape using wasp spray.
After Jacquneaux fled the scene, he went to the residence of another acquaintance in Carencro and held him at knife point, then stole a handgun. He was apprehended at that residence.
Officers who responded to the scene stated that the victim had several lacerations to his facial area, as well as a gaping wound underneath his eye. Credeur was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators say Credeur is the husband of Jacquneaux’s ex-wife, who has a protective order against him due to threats and violent behavior.
She was at the residence at the time of the attack. Officers believe Jacquneaux was under the influence of narcotics during the attack, but no blood tests were performed. Friends of Credeur stated that the suspect had been using bath salts prior to the attack.
Jacquneaux was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail and charged with aggravated burglary, simple battery, violation of probation, aggravated second degree battery and violation of protective orders. He is currently being held in lieu of $312,500.
