And Brett Kimberlin, scumbag, terrorist, convicted felon, and short besides, is a very bad actor. He decide to try to intimidate Stacy McCain, of The Other McCain blog, and he tried to bully and intimidate others as well. Because these bloggers dared to uncover the ugly truth behind Kimberlin, and his allies, they found themselves targeted.
Zilla of the Resistance has an incredibly detailed post on just who this guy is, and what he’s done to people who have exposed him, and writes
What did Stacy do to find himself in the cross-hairs of this violent terrorist thug? The same thing that gets the rest of us targeted by vile leftists who want to silence us: he told the truth: about Kimberlin, his violent criminal history, the leftist operatives that he is connected to, and the plethora of money that The Speedway Bomber has been given by a myriad of well-known progressives.
The Lonely Conservative has her blogburst up, along with a ton of links to those participating
Brett Kimberlin, aka The Speedway Bomber, is not a nice man. He’s on a mission to go after any blogger who dares to speak the truth about him. He doesn’t want anyone writing about his sordid past, or his ties to liberal groups and “charitable” foundations thatsend his “non-profit” businesses money.
You see, this is how the far Left plays. They target anyone who dares expose or even question them. Their thuggery is vile, and they must be stopped, because should their intimidation tactics succeed, well, then free speech in America is gone. That, of course is the goal of the Kimberlins of the world. Too often, these despicable and cowardly tactics have succeeded. Corporations, media outlets, and politicians have bowed to Left-Wing boycotts, or the Race Card, or out of fear of negative publicity. But, something odd happened when Kimberlin tried this game with bloggers. He, in the words of The Lonely Conservative, poked a bees nest
Brett Kimberlin, aka The Speedway Bomber, is not a nice man. He’s on a mission to go after any blogger who dares to speak the truth about him. He doesn’t want anyone writing about his sordid past, or his ties to liberal groups and “charitable” foundations that send his “non-profit” businesses money.
What he probably didn’t realize is that conservative bloggers don’t take kindly to attacks on our friends. An attack on one is an attack on all. He wanted to quietly terrorize anyone who wrote about his evil ways through “lawfare.” Little did he know is that he had kicked a bee’s nest. The Army of Davids has answered the call.
He may have cost one couple their jobs, and forced a family out of their home, but in doing so, he invited a level of scrutiny upon himself that was surely unexpected. There’s now a web page devoted to exposing his evil ways. His deadly deeds may have been scrubbed from Wikipedia, but thanks to big voices like Michelle Malkin and Lee Stranahan, Kimberlin will go on to live in infamy.
A bit about Kimberlin’s past is in order here I think
In the late 1970′s Brett Kimberlin planted bombs all over the town of Speedway Indiana. One of those bombs was in a gym bag placed outside a school. Carl DeLong, a Vietnam War veteran, picked up the bag thinking he would be able to identify the owner and return it. For his trouble he had his leg blown off, his body filled with shrapnel, and an injured wife. DeLong was in so much pain he took his own life a few years later. His widow won a wrongful death suit against Kimberlin, who has not paid up.
The police who investigated the bombings believed Kimberlin planted the bombs to deflect attention from another crime – the cold-hearted murder of the grandmother of a girl he may have molested. They didn’t have enough evidence to charge him for that crime, especially after the victim’s husband died. Eventually, Kimberlin was sentenced to fifty years in prison, but thanks to lax federal parole laws at the time he got out early. The Indy Star covered the events, and their reporting is available online. (Follow that link for one article, and look to the left of the page for a number of other articles they ran at the time.)
Ace of Spades summed up one story, the one where they recounted how Kimberlin put out hits on his enemies.
But remember, this is the guy who is being “harassed” and even viciously “decked” by bloggers.
It’s not this guy himself who’s causing the problems– no, not the guy who had a list of witnesses against him to be killed.
Not the guy who tried to pay off another convict to plant a bomb, of the exact same design as his own bomb, so that he could argue that cops “got the wrong man” for the Speedway Bomber.
No, it’s this guy who is the innocent victim of cruel right-wingers conspiring to besmirch his good reputation with smears.
While in prison Kimberlin boned up on the law, and claimed to have sold drugs (he was also convicted of drug dealing) to Dan Quayle. Those claims caught the attention of the left. Fox News documented his post-parole activities in 2010.
Now, 22 years later, Kimberlin has taken that lesson and made unfounded accusations a profession of sorts. Using two popular leftist blogs, the 56-year-old from Bethesda, Md., has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from the public and left-leaning foundations by promising to put conservatives he disagrees with in jail, often with offers of large rewards. So far — without success — he has called for the arrest of Karl Rove, Andrew Breitbart, Chamber of Commerce head Tom Donohue, Massey Energy Chairman Don Blankenship and other high-profile public figures.
A review of tax filings for Kimberlin’s blogs, “Velvet Revolution” and “Justice Through Music,” raises troubling questions about whether his “nonprofit” operations are dedicated to public activism — or are just a new facade for a longtime con artist.
Though neither website publicly reveals Kimberlin’s role, tax and corporate documents show that he is one of four directors who incorporated the Velvet Revolution, and that he is the registered agent for the tax-exempt, non-stock company, which is registered at his mother’s house in Bethesda. In 2008, the last year for which tax records are available, Velvet Revolution took in $83,000 in gifts and contributions.
Kimberlin is also one of two incorporators of Justice Through Music, as well as a $19,500-a-year employee of the non-profit, whose purpose is to “shed light on some of the injustices of the world through music” and which took in more than $550,000 in contributions in 2008.
What those who view the blogs — and those who donate to them — aren’t told is who Kimberlin is and where he’s been. And that is a twisted story, indeed. (Read More)
Kimberlin is making a mockery of the legal system. Via Absolute Moral Authority, just search him on Google Scholar. It’s one lawsuit after another. Who do you think is paying for all of this litigation? We, the taxpayers are, while Kimberlin is funded by liberal groups like the Tides Foundation, John Kerry’s wife and Barbara Streisand, and his “non-profits” have tax-exempt status. Lee Stranahan has a list of his more recent activity, as well as some of his political connections, all Democrats, I might add.
That is one very naughty monkey, and a dangerous one, anyone who crosses him might become a target. So, why wold I, or any other blogger take part in exposing Kimberlin? Why would we make a target of ourselves? Well, simply put, I, and every other blogger telling this story is already a target aren’t we? I blog about the Left every day, I try to expose their agenda every day. So, the Left proven their penchant for targeting folks like me over and again. That leaves me, and all the other bloggers with a choice. Either keep doing what we love to do, or, do what the Brett Kimberlin’s want us to do, that is SHUT UP! Sorry, I am not going to be forced into silence by a thug.
There is a another point that needs to be stressed here. Why are bloggers becoming the target of choice for the Left? More than talk radio, more than Conservative columnists, more than Fox News? Well, we are most times the source of breaking news and commentary aren’t we? I do not remember the last time I listened to talk radio and heard a subject discussed that I, or Ed, or some other blogger had not already delved into. Often times bloggers are days ahead of talk radio. And there are no sponsors to target for most of us. Most of us do not have careers in media, we are not talking heads on CNN or Fox, we are everyday folks doing our best to fight for American principles. We are many, from the blogger who gets a few hits a day, to the blogger getting several hundred visits a day, to those, like this blog, that gets 3-4,000 a day, to blogs that get tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of hits a day. And we are VERY hard to control. That is what makes us all targets for the totalitarians like Kimberlin.
Consider this list of bloggers covering this, and trust me, there are many more!

If you are Brett Kimberlin, and you do not want your past, or current activities exposed, this is a problem. A problem monkey boy thought he could do away with by going the intimidation route, BIG, BIG mistake!
And, let us assert here that Kimberlin is not the only one trying to shut us up. This tactic is used by most of the Left, as Donald Douglas points out
I saw this first at WSB-TV Atlanta, “Georgia Democrats’ director record comes to light.”
And here are Andre Walker’s key posts, via Bates Line:
And yesterday at Walker’s blog, “Good Trouble vs. Bad Trouble.”
But see Bryan at Legal Insurrection, “Is conservative blogger in Georgia another victim of “lawfare”?”
While the conservative blogosphere is focused on Brett Kimberlin, there is another instance of possible “lawfare” which deserves attention.
Roughly three weeks ago a lawsuit alleging defamation against a conservative blogger was filed in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia.
The claim was brought by Georgia Democratic Party Political Director, Rashad Richey, against conservative blogger Andre Walker of Georgia Politics Unfiltered, as well as a number of other named and unnamed Defendants.
In Richey’s complaint, a number of points were cited as evidence of libel and libel per se. Both of these categories fall under the legal umbrella of defamation. The complaint referenced, among other things, blog posts where Walker wrote that Richey had a “history of making poor personal decisions,” that he was a “criminal,” and a “jailbird.”
Walker has answered the complaint saying not only that this lawsuit is without merit, but also that it is an exercise of frivolity, actionable under the Georgia Abusive Litigation Act.
Walker further asserts that the statements at issue were made in the exercise of Walker’s “right of free speech under the Constitutions of Georgia and the United States of America…” and that truth is an absolute defense to a defamation claim. News reports have publicized Richey’s history of run-ins with the law.
Additionally, Richey likely will be considered a “public figure” under the law, requiring him to prove actual malice.
As I stated earlier, we are ALL targets now. An Ex-Con his some good thoughts on this
The Brett Kimberlin saga continues, small blogs proliferate in raising our weak and oft unheard voices against the thundering maelstrom of the far left loons. The blogs, from those read only by close friends and family to the 25th tier with their audience of several, upwards to the micro-bloggers that get an occasional break and traffic in the low hundreds on an average day. These are the foot-soldiers in the battle for our nation.
Due to the foolishness and over-confidence of our target some of the larger blogs, some even with name recognition and a national following, are getting involved in this effort. The effort to unmask a twisted dwarf with a bomb in one hand and a subpoena in the other.
But, with an exception or two, none of the truly national blogs, online news purveyors or MSM outlets have so much as breathed a word. Is it apathy or cowardice? Do these non-participants opt out because they just are so jaded that they really don’t care unless it will demonstrably increase web traffic or income from enhanced ad rates? Or are these organizations just cowardly, afraid to put their elephantine bulk of public opinion and political notice up against a 5’4″ sociopath?
Why is it that single man operations are willing to put their very lives on the line to stop Brett Kimberlin and his merry band of Marxist sycophants from continuing their home-grown and home-brewed brand of political terrorism? Are they more invested individually in the success of our nation? Are their lives less valuable than say, Glenn Beck’s?
Here are some more links to folks taking part in this blog burst
Finally, some thoughts and tips for those who might think of joining this venture from Bob Belvedere
Tomorrow is Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day where many of us will take part in a blogburst to help spread the word about Democrat activist and convicted domestic terrorist bomber Brett Kimberlin and his Leftist associates.
-Lee Stranahan, who thought up this great idea, put together a background video on Kimberlin that can be found here. He explains:
This is no war of words; Kimberlin is a serial litigator who has filed over 100 lawsuits by his own account and he takes people to court, claiming they are harassing him. He calls their employers. I stand with all these people, some of whom are my friends. I’m launching a new effort on my own that I hope will help. The only effective way I to fight Brett Kimberlin is for as many people to research and write about him as possible.
So I’m declaring this Friday, May 25th as Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day.
Here’s what you do to take part…
- Research Brett Kimberlin on your own. Don’t trust secondary sources; look for the orginal articles articles published about him, too.
- On Friday, May 25th — write an honest, factually accurate post about what you learned and what your OPINION is. Brett may try and sue you, so be accurate, factual and separate fact from opinion.
- The post doesn’t have to be long — ANYTHING helps.
- After you post, Tweet, share, whatever — get the post out there.
This foolishness has gone on long enough
In another posting, Mr. Stranahan offers some sources on the Internet that can be useful for research [I don’t think he will mind if I quote it in full]:
In order to help you prep for Everyone Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day, I wanted to point out two treasure troves for research on Brett Coleman Kimberlin. Research can be tricky because either Kimberlin or his allies are intent on information not coming out. For example, despite the numerous newspaper, magazine articles and even a book written about him there’s no Wikipedia page for Brett Kimberlin. The entire page was pulled down for a very suspect reason.
One is the Indy Star articles like this one — that show original reporting of what happened in Indiana and elsewhere, starting in 1978.
Another source of amazing data is the Google Scholar page – not regular Google, but Google Scholar and focus on Legal Documents. Search for Brett Kimberlin and you’ll find numerous (but not nearly all) legal cases and judgments he’s been involved in.
That is all for now, but, there will likely be updates later, so check back. I will try to give credit to everyone who links here, but if I miss you, let me know in the comments to this post!
Stacy McCain, The World’s Most Interesting Blogger, is really where this blog gets all its journalistic heft. Which is where I come off with posts like the one last night. Dianna Deeley asks some interesting questions in the comments:
By the way – I finally realized how JTMP has been skating by. In their boiler plate “about us” section, in paragraph two, they write: “Nationally known entertainment attorney Jeff Cohen and other computer savvy activists”.
If the Jeff Cohen is the lawyer who signs as executive director, he’s not a nationally known entertainment lawyer.
There is, indeed, a very famous entertainment lawyer named Jeff Cohen, but it’s not the same guy. I’m wondering about this.
Oh, and has anyone – anyone at all – found a “famous musician” or “famous band” associated with this outfit? I haven’t.
Which leads one to The Naked Gun for an answer, as Frank Drebbin muses:
I’d known her for years. We used to go to all the police functions together. Ah, how I loved her, but she had her music. I think she had her music. She’d hang out with the Chicago Male Chorus and Symphony. I don’t recall her playing an instrument or being able to carry a tune. Yet she was on the road 300 days of the year. In fact, I bought her a harp for Christmas. She asked me what it was.
If you don’t have heft, go for ‘heh’, I always say, as of now.

Update May 25 midnight: As I noted on Wednesday, blogs and Twitter users are uniting today for Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin. This post will remain the lead story all day so that newcomers to this ongoing story can get the basics. The list of bloggers below who have stepped forward to write about Kimberlin — and support those he has attacked — will continue to be updated throughout the day. E-mail if I have missed you. New blog post excerpts and latest developments will also be added below. Just keep scrolling. Patterico reminds readers that a left-leaning lawyer and left-leaning blog were also targeted, which I want to make sure to note. Be sure to check Patterico’s blog for more revelations about his plight. Also bookmark Aaron Walker’s blog,Stacy McCain’s, and Liberty Chick Mandy Nagy’s Twitter feed.Read the comprehensive investigative piece Mandy wrote at Breitbart.com that set all the insanity in motion.
Mandy and Aaron will be on Lee Stranahan and Brandon Darby’s radio show at 7am ET to talk about Kimberlin. Please remember:Kimberlin is a radical, violent, lying, dangerous felon. This is literally a matter of life and death, freedom vs. terrorism. We side with life and freedom.
Update II: Ali Akbar of the National Bloggers Club has stepped up to the plate and set up a donation page to help support the bloggers targeted by Kimberlin. Please help here if you can.

You’re about to listen to one of the most bone-chilling pieces of audio you will ever hear. At least, it was to me when I first heard it.
It’s a phone call that could have gotten me killed.
In this post you will hear that audio clip. You will also read about a months-long campaign of harassment carried out by at least three individuals: Ron Brynaert, Neal Rauhauser, and Brett Kimberlin — much of it directed at critics of Brett Kimberlin. This harassment includes repeated references to critics’ family members, workplace complaints, publication of personal information such as home addresses and pictures of residences, bogus allegations of criminal activity, whisper campaigns, frivolous legal actions, and frivolous State Bar complaints.
And finally, you will hear a comparison of one of those men’s voices to that of the man who made the call that sent police to my home. And you’ll read a declaration from a forensic audio expert comparing those two voices.
In the last radio interview Andrew Breitbart ever gave, on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Breitbart talked about a new ruthless tactic used by thugs against political opponents:
[O]ne of the things they’ve done to people who have worked with me in the past, including an L.A. prosecutor, is to “SWAT.” That means that they’re spoofing phones, pretending to be somebody else’s phone, calling 911, and saying “I killed somebody” and then the person’s home is met with the guns drawn, the SWAT and the helicopters, in a horrifying act. It’s happened twice: once in New Jersey, once in Los Angeles, with an L.A. County . . . prosecutor who [is] associated with me.”
I am that L.A. County prosecutor. And in this post, you’ll hear the hoax call that sent police to my house, pointing loaded guns at me.
Read it all, it is chilling.
UPDATE!!!!! Mark Tapscott writing at the Washington Examiner touches on the assault on free speech
The enemies of free speech and thought have lately turned to more subtle tools of suppression than merely shouting down speakers. Among these are extortionary threats to launch false charges of racism against companies that support politically incorrect groups, such as the American Legislative Exchange Council.
But far more sinister is the tactic adopted by Brett Kimberlin, an activist and the founder of the group Velvet Revolution who was convicted in 1981 of exploding eight bombs in 1978 in Speedway, Ind. One of his bombs blew off the leg of a man who subsequently committed suicide.
Nowadays, Kimberlin targets conservative bloggers like Aaron Worthing and Robert Stacy McCain in Maryland, and Patrick Frey of Patterico’s Pontifications in California. Why? For publishing facts about Kimberlin’s criminal record.
Kimberlin harasses his targets by, among many other ways, filing false charges in courts that require expensive, time-consuming litigation, disrupting his targets’ workplaces, and dropping dark hints about spouses and kids.
Here’s how Patterico describes Kimberlin’s tactics against Worthing in seeking a “peace order”: “It is beyond the scope of this post to detail every way in which Kimberlin’s peace order is misleading and deceptive. Kimberlin complains that Aaron spoke of purchasing a gun, implying that Aaron’s statement was aggressive — when Aaron actually said he had bought a gun to defend himself.
“Kimberlin claims that Aaron is responsible for ‘alerts’ coming to his email inbox, suggesting Aaron is emailing him, when in fact the ‘alerts’ Kimberlin is talking about are Google alerts. If you write about this guy on the Internet, he may run to a judge and say you are causing abusive alerts to come to his email.
“You might say: What’s the harm in getting a peace order? I have watched this play out in other venues and I know just what Kimberlin is up to. As soon as he gets a ‘peace order,’ he will run back to court the very next time Aaron mentions his name in public.
Glenn Beck is talking about Kimberlin listen here
UPDATE!!!!!! Bob Belvedere is all over this!
Bloggers, Tweeters, and Other Members of the Allied Internet Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the Leftist war machine, the elimination of Progressive tyranny over the oppressed peoples of The West, and security for ourselves in a free online world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He has many friends within the governments at all levels. He will fight savagely and unfairly. He lives by the creed: ‘by any means necessary’.
But this is the year 2012! Much has happened since the Leftist triumphs of 2006-2008. The Rightosphere has inflicted upon the Leftists great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our ridicule offensive has seriously reduced their strength on Twitter and their capacity to wage war on the Internet. The tide has turned! The free men and women of the online world are marching together to Victory!
I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in this battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!
Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

-If you read one post on this Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day, please make it Patterico’s entitled: Convicted Bomber Brett Kimberlin, Neal Rauhauser, Ron Brynaert, and Their Campaign of Political Terrorism.
It shows you all of the methods being used by these Leftists in their campaign to destroy people on the Right and and anyone on the Left who dares rise to our defense, who do not follow The Party Line, who refuse to look the other way as they carry out their nefarious schemes. Patterico’s post exposes this cabal’s strategy and tactics, how these Leftist thugs terrorize honest, decent, law-abiding people. When you read it, you will also see how Patterico almost was killed as these bastards SWATted him [BTW: One of the things you will find out is that Ace has been a target].
-Ali Akbar and the folks over at the National Bloggers Club have, once again, stepped up to help, as Stacy McCain [still in hiding with his family] informs us:
The National Bloggers Club has been a valuable ally in supporting and defending bloggers targeted by harassment and intimidation. Today is “Everybody Blog Brett Kimberlin Day.” I join with National Bloggers Club president Ali Akbar in sincerely requesting that readers concerned about defending First Amendment rights online visit the club’s special site, KimberlinFiles.org, and please give generously. Fellow bloggers can help by including the image and link in their coverage of the Kimberlin case.
-Also, check out the resource site Who Is Brett Kimberlain? here.
-That Innocuous Girl has put together a timeline of events in Kimberlin’s pastthat is quite useful. As she explains:
