Renee Jackson, a 35-year-old New Orleans man was jailed after he allegedly attempted to rob a convenience store with a pair of hot dog tongs.
According to the Fort Smith Police Department, Jackson allegedly entered a local convenience store, grabbed a pair of silver tongs used for hot dogs, then demanded money from the clerk and customers.
Witnesses say Jackson appeared to be extremely intoxicated, so no one took him seriously. The clerk called 911 and stated that he was attempting to stab people inside the store with the tongs. He ultimately pushed one of the customers, but no one was inured.
Investigators say when officers arrived on the scene, Jackson was outside the building. Police stated that he had written a note to the store, apologizing for what he had done.
Jackson told investigators that he became distraught after arguing with his wife and wanted to go to jail because his family didn’t appreciate him.
He was booked into jail and charged with two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.
