A 17-year-old Santa Clarita teenager displayed a double dose of stupid last Tuesday after he allegedly stole an Airsoft pellet rifle from a store where he had just finished dropping off his resume.
According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office, the unidentified teen walked into a local hobby shop and submitted his resume, complete with name, address and phone number.
The boy then reportedly walked around the store for a few minutes before grabbing an Airsoft pellet rifle off of a display shelf and then fleeing the scene without paying for the item.
The teen, who has not been identified because of his age, was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras handing his resume to a store employee just moments before leaving the store with the stolen gun.
A reporter with KTLA in California went to the store, obtained a copy of the boy’s resume and then went to his home to obtain an interview.
The boy admitted to taking the gun after learning he had been captured on video surveillance stealing the gun.
“Honestly, I wasn’t planning on stealing anything,” said the teen. “I was actually trying to get a job, and… what can I say? I’m a teenager that’s stupid.”
Although the case has been assigned to a detective, an arrest has not yet been made in the case.
