Simply awful news. Former Titan QB Steve McNair has been found dead in Nashville. ESPN is reporting he died from  gunshot wound.

This is simply awful news. Updates as I get them.

This from ESPN.com. A woman was found in the home, also shot to death. Could it be a murder-suicide? I hate to speculate, but that was my first thought.

McNair, 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. A female victim was also found dead. Aaron said the woman has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

From the news this morning, it seems the police are not looking for suspects, which would lead me to believe I was correct about the murder/suicide thoughts. Apparently the woman found with McNair was his girlfriend, and they had been dating several months. She has been identified as 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi. ESPN has more

Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a “friend” of McNair’s. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police said the 36-year-old McNair was found on the sofa in the living room, and Kazemi was very close to him on the floor. Aaron said the gun was not “readily apparent” when police first arrived.

Autopsies were planned for Sunday.

What an awful waste. It is looking like McNair threw away a wife, four children, and his life.
